Washco
I have been trying to decide between a Vista CX and a 60CSX. Either way, I would really like to be able to interface directly with my Mac. We do have Virtual PC but that is painfully slow. Anyway, I sent Garmin an email and this is what I was sent: Thank you for contacting Garmin International! I am happy to help you with this. Thanks for your patience. It is on the way. We have released our first version of Mac. software, which is for our fitness units, meaning the rest cannot be too far behind. Apple is working on it for us, as they did our fitness software, Training Center. I don't have a specific date, and did not have a specific date until the day the Training Center was posted on our website. If you have any additional comments or questions, please do not hesitate to contact us via email or at the number listed below. Best Regards, David M. I read some online reviews from last year and it was said that Garmin was working on it. Thanks for the information. So, hopefully fellow Mac users, the light is at the end of the tunnel! +TroyKrum
Awesome... thanks for sharing so I don't have to email them as well. I look forward to interfacing directly with my home computer. Washco - I am also trying to decide between the Vista Cx and the 60CSx - come to any conclusions? Is it worth the extra $100 for the 60CSx? Troy Quote Link to comment

Is it worth the extra $100 for the 60CSx? Troy Well, I decided that the better antenna chip set was worth it. My old Megellan 315 is about the same size as the 60 so Im used to that and Im not going to buy any maps right now due to Garmin's response. I dont know how soon they will come out with the Mac versions but hopefully it will be before Aug when we go on our family vacation. So, I went with the 60. Cant wait!!! That Vista sure is a cute little guy tho. Quote Link to comment
+user13371
I was considering the Garmin Edge 305 (or other Garmin models) because of their announced Mac support. But after looking at Garmin's Training Center and http://www.motionbased.com, I'm not overly impressed. I may be more impressed when any of the major GPS makers offers map software that runs on the Mac and can transfer data between the computer and GPS seamlessly. But neither Garmin (nor Magellan, Lowrance, Delorme, et al.) have announced time frames for such things. Until then, I've cobbled together solutions relying on Google Earth, Robert Lipe's GPSBabel, and folder actions in Mac OS X. I still can't download MAPS to the GPS, but I could transfer waypoints, tracks, and routes pretty easily between Google Earth and my Lowrance iFinder H2O. I recently sold the iFinder, and expect to adapt my folder actions for whatever brand of GPS I buy next. Quote Link to comment

BTW I have no interest in Ascent, other than as a user. http://www.montebellosoftware.com/ Quote Link to comment
+user13371
...Ascent ...Looks like it would be good for storing and playing back tracks, but I couldn't see where it lets you pre-load any information to the GPS before heading out. Did I miss something? Quote Link to comment

Did I miss something? No, you didn't. The software developer still has that on his list of things to do Quote Link to comment
