MarilynB
Ok, so I know playing with this thing and I created a route, converted it to way points, when I save the route it saves it as a .upt and a .rte file, now when I use the conversion manager to put it on the explorist 500 that application is looking for .wpt or .trk file format....did I miss something here?? Same for the region, I created a region in Mapsend, now in the transfer/convert utility it is looking for different file extension names Quote Link to comment
+embra
You need to use Conversion Manager or the downloadable Mapsend Manager to convert formats and transfer the files. Be advised that you can transfer a point-to-point route from DR in all detail, but if you try to transfer a street route only the beginning and end transfer; the GPS will generate the route itself on the fly when activated. For that reason I don't transfer routes, but only the destination waypoints. Quote Link to comment
MarilynB
I follow what you are saying but conversion manager does not look for a .upt file or a .rte Conversion manager is looking for a .wpt or a .trk file So I have nothing to convert because the 2 file formats are diferent??? This is confusing and frustrating... Quote Link to comment
MarilynB
Ok, I called customer support....what a nice, nice person, they were so patient with the "idiot" me With version 3.0 Mapsend Direct I just save directly to the unit (as it appears as a hard drive) I felt foolish LOL Quote Link to comment
+embra
I feel a bit foolish, too; I should have caught that if it was saving it in the format the Explorist ultimately needed, that you must have 3.0, which communicates directly. I have an older version requiring the extra hoop to jump through. Quote Link to comment
