+rwfairbanks
I came accross a marker at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in California. I can email a picture if you would like. The website gives the location as Lat: 37° 06' 57.5" N Lon: 121° 04' 58.3" W but the marker says N224839.76 E1831378.34 Can anyone "learn me" what these numbers mean? Thanks, Ron Quote Link to comment
FlagFinder
i think its NAD83 a different system for coords Quote Link to comment

Thanks, Ron It's just a different way to write the same coordinate. Instead of using degrees they use feet (I assume). NAD83 is a different coordinate plane, which does not change the format of the coordinate per se, but the location as the WGS84 is a more updated plane that is commonly used today. Correct me if Im wrong, but I believe this is correct. JTA Quote Link to comment
FlagFinder
ya i think its WGS84 too because that is most commonly used for benchmarks Quote Link to comment
pathfinderpolks
I don't know much but that looks like UTM coords to me. Quote Link to comment
+Airmapper
I don't know much but that looks like UTM coords to me. It does look like UTM. It's missing a zone number though. I plotted them, and if I did it right, the two sets of coords given do not match. Someone from the Benchmarking forum would probably have a good explanation. Quote Link to comment
+rwfairbanks
Thanks everyone, I'll find the benchmark forum and ask again. Quote Link to comment
