vista cx keeps adding measurment tool--help

I have a new vista cx. When I go to waypoint from map. I get a little blue pin head on my map page. My triangle goes off screen as I walk along the way. I can go to menu and turn off measuring, but when I click on to waypoint and go for another point, the measuring blue pin head is on my display again. what am I doing wrong? Also when I go to waypoint and bring up my list, I go to menu and want to select find nearest, that opion is not there. On my legend it appears , what gives. A little advice and help goes a long way. thanks.

If, with the map displayed, you use the cursor to select a new point, the map will no longer move as you move. The unit assumes you want to move the cursor around the screen. You need to hit QUIT to return to the regular map mode that keeps your position marker centered.
