Mega-event Cache

We've recently added a Mega-Event cache type.

 

"Mega-Event Cache

A Mega-Event cache is similar to an Event Cache but it is much larger. In order to qualify as a Mega Event, the event cache must be attended by 500+ people. Typically, Mega Events are annual events and attract geocachers from all over the world."

 

Note that we want this cache type to apply to only the largest of geocaching events and, accordingly, we may increase the required number of attendees to 750 or 1,000 based on the level of requests.

 

The first two that we've qualified for this cache type are GW4 and the Midwest Geo Bash. There is a new icon on those cache detail pages.

 

Also, in the interest of better publicizing these events so that people from far and wide can attend, we'll be allowing them to be published 6 months in advance (we'll consider a longer period if necessary).

 

In order to have your event qualified and published as a Mega-Event cache, please send an email to contact@Groundspeak.com with details of the event. Groundspeak approval will be required.
