+Frank22 Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 Does anyone know or use a topo software that works like ExpertGPS and is less costly or free? ExpertGPS is nice when locating caches in a given area. I just haven't justified its purchase as yet. Quote
topografix Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 So how much would you be willing to pay? Make me an offer: paypal@topografix.com Quote
+Sputnik 57 Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 (edited) The free route is to download USAPhotomaps, then load up area topo maps, and transfer waypoints. I don't recall if USAPhotomaps takes .gpx files, but you can load them into your GPSr and then transfer them from there to USAPhotomaps. This is not a replacement for ExpertGPS. It doen't have any of the same functionality. It will, however, show you caches on topo maps for free. Edit: Yes, USAPhotomaps reads (and exports to) .gpx files. Grasscatcher Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 As a user of several other mapping programs as well as Expert GPS, paying $59.95 for Expert GPS was one of the absolute best bargains I have run across. The combination of features, functionality of the program, and VERY responsive support cannot be beat! I also use Mapsource, Topo, USAPhotomaps,ArcExplorer,DNR Garmin and have totally given up on Maptech. Quote
