10 "must Have" Waymark Categories

Recommended Posts

Waymarking "Must Have" categories:

1. Potholes. Got one in a road near you? WAYMARK IT! In order to log a find on a previously waymarked pothole, all you need to do is run over it! There's nothing like a solid "thunk" to let you know you scored a find!

2. Porta-Potties. You know when you really need to go, but aren't sure where you need to go to go? This waymark will tell you where to go... to go. So get going, get there, and get going!

3. Stop Signs. Lots of accidents are caused when people unknowingly run stop signs. This Waymarking category can save lives and millions of dollars per year in vehicle repairs. Waymark a stop sign and save a life! (Note: Stop signs outlined in white are optional, and therefore shouldn't be waymarked)

4. Fire Hydrants. Volunteer fire companies across the nation need to know where to tap in if there's a fire, so this waymark could save lives. As an added bonus, people who walk their dogs will find this one useful as well.

5. Federal Government Buildings. Got a building in town which is used by the Federal Government? Stick a waymark to it online! Please be sure to note what types of security measures are installed there as well. This waymark will be managed by "Osama_GPS".

6. Dirtiest Public Restrooms. Found one that's really, really nasty? One that makes your hair curl before you even step through the door? WAYMARK IT! Please post lots of pictures too, as a competition will be held for the nastiest bathroom in the nation. Entries will be disqualified if the nastiness was caused by those submitting the waymark.

7. Missing Landmarks. You know the routine, you ask someone for directions to a place you've never been, and they start off with "You know where that big old tree used to be before they cut it down a few years back? Well turn left there, and...". Now you can waymark all those landmarks that "used to be" but aren't anymore, so when the old-timers use those missing landmarks in their directions, you'll know what they're referring to. Acceptable items for this category include businesses that have changed names at least 3 times, buildings that have been demolished, trees that have been cut down, signs that have been removed, and houses where people who died long ago used to live.

8. Good places for something to be. Found a spot where you think something should go? WAYMARK IT! Let's say you're walking through the woods and suddenly have a Big Mac attack, waymark that spot and let us know that that would be a great place for a McDonalds! That vacant lot down the street might be a really handy location for a Wal-Mart, or the neighbors back yard might really need a sprint car track. Let Waymarking keep track of where all sorts of stuff should go that isn't there yet.

9. Places where people might die. Found a really dangerous intersection? Or an old quarry? A new retirement home? Or some other place where someone will most likely die in the future? WAYMARK IT! Tell the world that you think someone will probably die here before it actually happens! Your waymark will be proof positive that you were right, should a death actually occur there. "Virgin" death sites only, please - waymarks will be deleted if someone has already died there.

10. Chain stores without caches. I know it sounds impossible to believe, but there may actually be some Wal-Marts, Cracker Barrels, or other national chain stores that don't have a cache in their parking lots. If you're fortunate enough to find such a rare occurrence, WAYMARK IT! Tell the world there's a naked franchise store just waiting for a magnetic key holder on a guardrail, or a film canister under a light post cover! Let no chain store go un-cached!!

Any more? :D
