  2. I noticed today that a log I had posted did not have the photo I had attached so I thought maybe since there was little internet at the location it just didn't get added. But it did show on the website it just doesn't show on the app. So I looked at a different geocache and sure enough logs that have photos are not showing the photos in the app, they only show on the website
  3. Starting today I've frequently been experiencing this issue: I click on a cache on the map and then click on the name and it brings me to a different geocache.
  4. In the app some mystery caches won't load and give me the cache information about the cache. I see the cache on the map, but when I click on the cache it just says Something went wrong - can't load this content (or something in that wording. I don't have the app in English so I don't know the exact wording the app use in English). Other caches loads just fine and gives me all the information about the cache. I've tried to log out and log back in again. The problem is still there. I've tried to delete the app and reinstall it. The problem is still there. I've also tried to load the cache information while on Wifi and while on mobile data. The problem is there both on Wifi and mobile data. On the website I can access the caches just fine. It's only in the app I have this problem. Version information: Version 8.56.1 Android 10 Samsung SM-G965F
  5. When I try to open a link from e.g. an e-mail normally I could choose if I want to open the link in a browser or in the geocaching app. After the last update for the new One UI 4.0 from Samsung I don't get this option anymore and the link will directly open in the browser. Have I something to change a setting or is that a setting on your part? Some information of my device: Samsung S10 One UI-Version: 4.0 Android-Version: 12 Just ask me if you need more. Greetings Oberbilker
  6. Since I have a new phone (Samsung A52) I don't get push notifications from the geocaching app anymore (other apps work fine). I already emptied the cache and switched off the battery optimalization, but unfortunately that made no difference. Has anybody the same problems or has someone an idea how to tackle this? Now, I see the messages in my email which is often too late when geocachers in the field have a question about one of my caches
  7. Almost every time to try to download a list for offline use it fails. I keep trying to download a single list over and over and it keeps failing. Sometimes a list will download quickly without issue and others just refuse to at all. Galaxy S9+ Android Version 10 App version 8.30.1
  8. Good day fellow Geocachers, ill get right to the point, i always had a iPhone but these have become very expensive devices. I subsequently bought a Huawei P40 5G lite, but was not told that it does not work with any google apps. so all the maps on the Geo apps don't work thus i cant geocache anymore! it has an Android version 10, EMUI Version 10.1.1 operating system. has anyone been able to fix this or have a work around? i have a "fake" google maps that works on the phone but obviously the Geo Apps don't talk to it?
  9. Howdy, This runs fine on my chromebook. However it does not take advantage of all the screen real estate and looks like it is running on a handheld. Thanks.
  10. Since September 28 (likely when I installed the most recent app update released September 26) my drafts in the app don't clear once I post my log on the website. Here's my typical "workflow" - I use the Geocaching app to locate, search for, and hopefully find a cache. I log the results as a Draft, making a few quick notes about the find. Once I get home, I log on to the geocaching.com website, go to the Drafts on the left side of my Dashboard, and click on the draft I want to log. The edit window opens, I flesh out the details of the find, open the trackables drop down list to visit or otherwise log any trackables, and hit Submit. I hit "Back to Drafts" to continue logging the other drafts, if any, I created for that day. The drafts are then gone from the list on the website. In my app, though, I have all the drafts from Sept. 28 through today. Prior to the 28th, once I logged from my drafts on the website, the app would sync and I wouldn't see them in the app or on the website. The app also shows a blue exclamation point for all the caches I have found since 9/28, rather than the smilie. The website shows the smilie. Sometimes there would be a delay in the app showing the smilies; but this is going on for over a week now with no syncing happening. I've restarted the phone, and the app, logged off and back on to the website - my Find count is updated in the app, but the map has blue exclamation marks that are increasing every day, and my drafts folders is getting full! Anyone else seeing this? Android app, version 6.12.1 Google Pixel (original) running Android 9
  11. Whenever I try to load a photo to a log, the image is being rotated from portrait to landscape orientation. Really annoying. I hope the viewers don't think I'm stupid. Samsung Galaxy S21
Desde entonces no he cogido ningún cache. Registré un geoearth y hoy un cache cogido este finde y ... serian 1.402 Me encuentro con que tengo 1.407 . Que está pasando o puede pasar?
  13. How long do we have to wait for "drafts" to be fixed on the Android app? It's been reported multiple times. They have been broken since the App update which made the Android App *look* like the iOS version of the App. Enough is Enough. Prior to the iOS-ing of the App -- drafts could be written, drafts would display on the map as '!', drafts could be opened and edited on the Android App. Life was good. Enter the iOS-ing release of the Android app. Drafts can be written. Drafts only momentarily display as '!', then they revert to original icon. Drafts can't be edited - when opened again, the draft is empty, causing me to re-enter my draft notes -- only to have them disappear again. This multiple draft entries then shows up on the web site as multiple drafts for the same cache. Not cool. I can go to the same set of caches in the iOS app on my iPAD and they show up correctly on the map *AND* I can edit the draft note from the iOS app -- but they are not there in the Android app. I can go to the website and the same set of caches will show up as drafts on the map *AND* I can edit the MULTIPLE draft notes. Almost SIX months to fix a BASIC function of the Android app? Seriously? I've attached the screen shots of what a single sample of caches look like on the Android app, the iOS app and on the website. Stop with the 'small' visual tweaks and FIX the everyday REAL bugs.
  14. I updated the app today before I set out. I noticed two changes in 8.46.2 that I am not wild about. Thing 1: GPS accuracy no longer appears when navigating using the map view. It was available in every version I can remember up until this one. Its absence is not good. I would like it back. The only way I can see the accuracy of GPS reception is to use the compass view - and that creates another issue. Thing 2: The compass navigation apparently will only work for the published coordinates for a cache. I was using the map view to navigate to the parking coordinates of a multi, which should have been 0.3 miles or so ahead of me. When I switched to compass view, the needle said I had only 0.1 miles to go. That's where the published stage 1 coordinates of the multi were. The destination coordinates at the bottom of the compass screen confirmed that it was trying to take me to stage 1 and not the parking coordinates. I will try to add screen shots when my phone charges up some more.
  15. The height of a new message window is about five scrolls the size of my phone screen. Please adjust the height of the message window so that it's easier to find and press the send button. Google pixel 3 chrome.
  16. Hello, normally I use my Garmin GPS for caching. But on my holidays I go caching with my smartphone, using the app that shouldn't be named here. There works everything fine. But I use the official App for Drafts and Messages. Today I noticed shocking that the app used 100 MBs. I checked my settings and see that I use the app only 12 minutes. 100 MBs in 12 min is a very high consumption of mobile data. I heard from an other cacher that he has the same Problem. He is caching with GCDroid and use the official app also only for Drafts (or logging) and Messages. Around 700 MBs are used by the official app and around 300 MBs are used by GCDroid. (But GCDroid is used much more than the official app) @Geocaching HQ Please Fix that. For people's with not much mobile data the app isn't usable... Has anyone the same Problem here? --- My English is not the best, so I hope everything is understandable...
  17. This weekend I did some extensive caching using the app. Since the major update I've noticed some *really* annoying things (at least to me). 1) Distance does not update on map page - cache info box. On the front map page, when you click on any cache it puts a lovely box at the bottom of the screen showing the GC, favorites, cache name, distance, D/T and size. This is all fantastic information. Prior to the major update, the 'distance' would update constantly as you moved closer to the cache. I rely on this heavily when driving to a new cache target. I can quickly check, see my blue dot moving and know that I'm 10 miles, or 500 ft away. This is highly useful when doing a power trail! With the new update (the one that changed the user interface) -- this distance no longer updates. It stays at 10 miles, even if you are 10 feet away. ARGH!!!! 2) Draft Log Icons disappear Caches with 'draft logs' have traditionally been shown with the '!' (exclamation mark). Which makes it easy to look at a bookmark list of an area and see which caches one still hasn't logged. This has been broken since the last update. It will show the "!" for a short period but when you move to the next cache it disappears on the app. This has led me to writing multiples of draft logs over and over and over again. Additionally -- I go back into the cache to log a draft again (or to update the information) -- and the draft text is not available -- making me think that I forgot to make a draft. This is *REALLY* very annoying especially when you are on power trails or doing multiple days of caching off bookmark lists. This past weekend I easily visited more than 100 caches -- but you would never know from the visual in the App. 3) Inability to add Adventure Labs starting points to bookmark lists Is that a BUG or a feature??? If it's a feature, it really shouldn't be. You've added AL icons to maps and I can search for them, but if I'm planning a trip and want to be sure I remember to look for the adventure lab when I drive through the area -- I can't because they are not on my bookmark list and hence their locations aren't available offline. This to me is a key feature that is absolutely required. 4) Solution Checker Not available UGH. I solved 25 geoart puzzles on my phone and didn't know about solution checker that was on the web page. All because there is NO indication in the cache description on the app that it exists. This should be a slam dunk NO BRAINER to integrate into the App Description page. This is just wrong on SO many levels. 5) Drafts on phone are limited to 250??? Are they? Or Aren't they? This seems to be a rather arbitrary limit. 6) Inability to filter by number of favorite points This has got to be a bug and definitely not a feature. I could swear that at one point I could set this filter. This would be the top used filter if it worked. 7) Bookmark lists limited to 100???? Arbitrary limit -- not related to anything slightly computer related like 128 or 256. That's the big list for now. Looking forward to updates soon.
  18. We especially recommend logging a cache in the Geocaching® app for Android on August 26 to discover a fun surprise. It's sure to add to the International Dog Day festivities. https://www.geocaching.com/blog/2021/08/four-ways-to-celebrate-international-dog-day/
  19. I just updated my android phone to a Galaxy S21 and moved the Geocaching app over to it. All seemed good until I tried to write a cache log. There's no keyboard! There's no indication that would suggest the keyboard could be retrieved from some storage location. This is a major pain! Beyond the fact that I cannot notify other caches when I have found and tried to log an FTF (without switching over to Chrome), I keep notes to myself for when I log my finds (or DNFs) later. Where did my keyboard go?
  20. The past week or so (maybe since January 1?) I have a persistent notification for a new souvenir. I can view my souvenirs, it goes away, but within half an hour, it's back. I look at them again, the notification goes away, and then returns. The last souvenir I earned is the one for Jan 1. I've restarted the app, and the phone, and the behavior remains. Android v. 9 App v. 7.2.0 Google Pixel How can I clear this?
  21. It has been some time since we have done any caching. We are taking a vacation and were hoping to do some caching. Downloaded a list for our destination on my Android Geocaching app.. Click on a cache and the phone downloads forever without providing any of the information. Also, selected a map with numerous caches showing. Clicking on any one has the same result of continual download. However, selected one cache that immediately pulled up the cache information. But this was one of 30. Would someone be able to give me some troubleshooting steps to take to correct this?
  22. I little while back I disable a cache that had gone missing. Today I replaced it but when I went to log Enable on my Motorola G4 it was not there as an option. All that was showing was OM, WN and Disable. I logged an OM, which was fine, but still no Enable option. When I got home I checked the cache on my desktop and the Enable was there along with the others. Odd eh? GC4R3TD
  23. I noticed yesterday that the app is displaying a incorrect number of souvenirs. I checked again this morning and nothing has changed The app only shows 50 and the website shows 289 Samsung S21 Ultra Android 11 App Version: 8.53.0 I've tried logging out and back in and pulling down to force a refresh, still says 50
  24. Yesterday I went out geocaching and had a number of problems with the Android app which I have never seen before in my 3 years of using the app. Before I get into the problems this is what I do when I go into the woods to find caches. First I make a list of the caches I going to look for, then I download the data to my cell phone (it took about 6 attempts to get each list to fully download, but this is nothing new - just a bug that doesn't get fixed). Next, when I start into the woods I turn on Airplane Mode to help preserve my battery. Now for the issues: 1) Three times I was dropped out of the geocaching app to the login screen - this has never happened to me before. I wasn't doing anything different when I got dropped out of the app, one time I remember I was trying to open the list view. I tried logging back in and got a message that I needed to have network access in order to log in. WTF!? Luckily on this trail I had 1 bar of connectivity and I was able to log in. But I've been on many hikes where I had no network access, so this would mean that I would have had to turn around and leave as I couldn't do any geocaching. Is this for real, can you only log in when you have a network connection? What idiot thought up that one? 2) My normal way of caching is once I've found a cache and logged it, I tap on the map at the top of the cache page. It opens up and shows the map and all the caches in my downloaded list, so I can select the next cache on the trail. But not this time... At various times during the day one of 3 things would happen: (a) the map would appear in the full screen but no geocaches would be displayed; (b) the map would appear with the geocaches from the list, but if I tapped on any geocache icon nothing happened. In the past the geocache name would appear at the bottom of the screen and I could tap the name to pull up the geocache page; (c) the map and geocache icons would appear but no matter which geocache I tapped on I would only get the name of the current, i.e., just found, geocache at the bottom. I have never seen this behavior before. Luckily I could go back to my downloaded list and select a geocache from there. At this point I'm going to rollback to the previous version to see if that works better. Marc (aka 51MarLin)
  25. I have a Sony Xperia 5ii, the app will not open. I get a green screen with the Geocache logo and it is not loading. I have changed permission to include location and storage, open supported links- non of this I have had to do with my previous two Xperia's. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled. Any suggestions as this Android should support the program app?
