I noticed yesterday that the app is displaying a incorrect number of souvenirs. I checked again this morning and nothing has changed The app only shows 50 and the website shows 289 Samsung S21 Ultra Android 11 App Version: 8.53.0 I've tried logging out and back in and pulling down to force a refresh, still says 50

Yesterday I went out geocaching and had a number of problems with the Android app which I have never seen before in my 3 years of using the app. Before I get into the problems this is what I do when I go into the woods to find caches. First I make a list of the caches I going to look for, then I download the data to my cell phone (it took about 6 attempts to get each list to fully download, but this is nothing new - just a bug that doesn't get fixed). Next, when I start into the woods I turn on Airplane Mode to help preserve my battery. Now for the issues: 1) Three times I was dropped out of the geocaching app to the login screen - this has never happened to me before. I wasn't doing anything different when I got dropped out of the app, one time I remember I was trying to open the list view. I tried logging back in and got a message that I needed to have network access in order to log in. WTF!? Luckily on this trail I had 1 bar of connectivity and I was able to log in. But I've been on many hikes where I had no network access, so this would mean that I would have had to turn around and leave as I couldn't do any geocaching. Is this for real, can you only log in when you have a network connection? What idiot thought up that one? 2) My normal way of caching is once I've found a cache and logged it, I tap on the map at the top of the cache page. It opens up and shows the map and all the caches in my downloaded list, so I can select the next cache on the trail. But not this time... At various times during the day one of 3 things would happen: (a) the map would appear in the full screen but no geocaches would be displayed; (b) the map would appear with the geocaches from the list, but if I tapped on any geocache icon nothing happened. In the past the geocache name would appear at the bottom of the screen and I could tap the name to pull up the geocache page; (c) the map and geocache icons would appear but no matter which geocache I tapped on I would only get the name of the current, i.e., just found, geocache at the bottom. I have never seen this behavior before. Luckily I could go back to my downloaded list and select a geocache from there. At this point I'm going to rollback to the previous version to see if that works better. Marc (aka 51MarLin)

I have a Sony Xperia 5ii, the app will not open. I get a green screen with the Geocache logo and it is not loading. I have changed permission to include location and storage, open supported links- non of this I have had to do with my previous two Xperia's. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled. Any suggestions as this Android should support the program app?

Anyone else getting this? A few times now, I have been minding my own business, navigating to a cache, when the app goes from whatever the actual distance to the cache is, to over 5000 miles. It would appear it thinks it is on Null Island, N 0 E 0. Exiting the app quickly fixes the issue upon restart, but it is annoying. Screen cap attached if it helps. Using v8.47.1 on Android 11, on a Galaxy A52 5G.

My app is acting very strange today. No anything. Just continual flashes of something gray. Good thing I was just going to the message center and not out geocaching.

I went to temporarily disable one of my geocaches today but when I clicked on "Log" I thought for a second that I had already disabled it. The three options are owner maintenance, write a note, and temporarily disabled. It should say temporarily disable.

Hi, I have a Samsung SM A520F Android 8.0.0 phone with the Groundspeak app version 8.47.1. When I use the app I select a cache from the map, this will indicate a distance to the cache - but it will not change as I get closer to the cache, for example it may say 0.6 miles to the cache and this will not change. If I open the cache and select "navigate" it then will give an accurate distance to the cache. If I then log that cache and move on to the next one it will show the distance from the point I selected the first cache, this may be 0.8 miles, if I then go to navigate it will show me 0.2 miles from the cache. I have tried to delete and re install but this has made no difference, I have also tried it on more than one occasion and have tried in totally different areas. This is a feature that used to work but seems to have stopped playing the game.

I think 3 pictures should say more than 3000 words. The Geocaching app did get updated to it's newest version to the point of removing the old one's shortcuts from wherever I had them on my phone. Images: 1. Newsletter 2. Adventure lab app 3. New geocaching app (i did Check the filters but there was noe AL option).

The official info says "Note: The Geocaching.com solution checker is not available on the Geocaching® app." Very true, if you use that checker, nothing at all about coordinate checking shows up in description in the app. One can back up one screen, and choose "open cache in browser", and find and use the checker that way. This is not very user friendly. I propose that the official geocaching app(s) should automatically show a similar link on the cache description page. (Ideally the entire checker should be visible and usable in the app description, but one battle at a time.) As it stands, the official app user will not know about the checker, and cannot see it, or how to find it, unless the CO adds text and a link. If the CO adds this text and link, it becomes redundant clutter when the cache is viewed with a web browser (or the third party app.) Hope this makes sense to the powers that be...

I have downloaded the app onto my Motorola Moto G phone, but it says this device does not have a compass . I deleted and reinstalled but no joy. This is the first time I have used it so I am a bit of a newbie

I would like to request that the Draft slide under Found It, be made a full time selection. I find that many times I forget to switch the Draft on and publish logs before I am ready for them to be published. Thank you..

The upgrade around the 12th of april gave us LabCaches on the map, but ruined the distance to the cache-function i the map. Its still not working, and what was prioritized in the fix yesterday: Sorting of the souvenirs ? Who needs an app with a lot of fancy functions when the basics don't work?

Hi, Today, after installing the last update of the app, I did some maintenances, and when I send a maintenance log from the app, it crashes and closes, leaving me an error message. When I open the app again, the maintenance message doesn't appear in the logs, so I tried 3 times and nothing, so I went through chrome. When I came back home, I saw that the 3 maintenances are well logged... I tested again on a maintenance tonight, in wifi, in case it was a phone (3G/4G) network problem, I have the same result. I sent a comment following this new bug. Android 8 - App version 8.47.0

Map countdown missing on Android app upgrade
Kerewin0430 posted a topic in Official Geocaching® apps
The newest update to the geocaching app appears to have disabled the "countdown" feature as you approach a cache while looking at the map. You can click off and back onto a cache repeatedly to get the distance, but it's no longer automatic. I can only get the countdown to happen if I'm using the compass feature within a particular cache (but then you don't see the map), or if I ask it to navigate to a specific waypoint (again, accessed by going directly into an individual cache). Am I missing something? Is there a toggle where I can ask it to show me the distance in real time? This is quite debilitating and annoying! -
I've had the geocaching app on my tablet and I took it off to upload the new app. Now it says it won't download on my tablet. Where did that option go?

Yesterday and today, when I open the App on my Android phone, it won't display the nearby caches. I tried everything to get them to display but no luck. Is this a known issue since there have been quite a few issues with the site the last few days? If someone can tell me how to make the map refresh to display nearby caches, I'd appreciate hearing from you. When I try on my desktop at home, it displays just fine. Thank you!

Hi all, I was struggling to figure out a nearby puzzle cache (GC5YBPG) the other day. I wasn't at home, so I was looking at the cache page in my Android app, and just coming up with nothing. Today I happened to look at the page on my computer and see that there is a Related Web Page up at the top that contains all of the info required to solve the puzzle. I went back to the app and looked everywhere and I couldn't find the Related Web Page at all, meaning if you were using the app and not a web browser there would be no way to solve this cache, and you wouldn't even know that there is info missing. If setting a Related Web Page is officially supported through the website, it needs to be supported in the official app. The app could show it as part of the description, or somewhere else - I'm not trying to dictate how it needs to be visible, but it needs to be. If it's there and I just can't find it or even if it's obvious and I'm just missing it, I'd appreciate it if someone could point out to me how to view any Related Web Pages.

My android app keeps forcing me to find wonders. The "find wonders" keeps reappering on my phone app every few seconds prompting me to "play now". Very annoying when trying to navigate the map looking for hides. Then when I do find a wonder, I never get credit for it even though I have logged it as a find. I am missing all wonder logs that I have found. WTF?

I changed my home location on Geocaching.com but it's not changing on my Android phone app. I've logged out and back in on my phone and on my laptop but still alerts new caches 100 miles away. We have a camp and have changed home location up there and then back home again but it's not working now. Is there a way to do it on the Android app? Thanks for any help.
