  1. I'm trying to set up instant notifications to my cell phone. When I add the new address to my email list, it will not verify. I know it's the right address, because it sends an email/text and I get it. But even though I click on the link, it says the verification failed. Any idea what I'm doing wrong and how I can get around it? Thanks!
  2. Can anyone tell me what qualifies as a recent cache? I am sent a list of over 400 recent caches in The Logbook. I quit looking at it. Some of the caches date back to 2004 or earlier - not too recent in my book. I thought maybe it is "recently found", but then I found a cache in the list that is almost two years lonely. Some may be more. I made a very quick search. If is is a list of caches near me why isn't it named that. I could use a list of recent caches in case I missed one in my notifications. It happens. Just wondering.
  3. I have not received any email notifications on my submitted waymarks or waymarks to be reviewed for several hours. Anyone else having this issue?
  4. I think there may be a problem with the Waymarking email feature. At least once, but probably twice, someone messaging me clicked the "Allow recipient to see my email address", but when I tried to respond in either of the two ways, I could only get to the Waymarking no reply address: 1. Click on the Reply to this Message link gives me the no reply Waymarking address 2. Hit "reply" on my email gives me the no reply Waymarking address. I needed their email address in order to send photos.
  5. I'm trying to set up instant notifications via email-to-sms on my O2 iPhone 3GS, using http://support.Groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=184 as my guide. I went to the page they suggested for the email addresses associated, but the O2 one didn't give any result, and I've tried several others I've found online. None of them have sent a test sms through, has anyone set this up on O2 already who could give me some pointers?
  6. When a person logs a cache, an email is sent to the cache owner containing the contents of the log. This is excellent, however line breaks are removed. The problem is that sometimes the formatting matters, especially if it contains a listing, for example: a challenge requirement. Line breaks serve to improve readibility, and removing them makes the log harder to read. Yes, I know, I could click on the link and see it in the online log, but it should be an easy task to keep the <br/> tag and replace <p> with <br/> for the email logs. For example, this log: Driving up to Auckland today gave me the opportunity to pick up a few caches along the way. I qualified for this one recently and so had wanted to come back and claim this cache and another nearby as these two are likely to be the last two I will qualify for from this series for a very long time. Once at GZ, it was a super quick find, sign, and replace before jumping back into the car and continuing on my journey north. TwigNZ has used Project-GC to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did. D: Don't get T'd off! 7. I am trying to change my email address to a different one. I have a gmail account and I want to use that instead of my old one....sbcglobal.net as we left AT&T. When I put in my gmail account address, it says "already exists". Of course it does! I have it. I see no where in my profile where I can change my primary address. Can you help, please? I need to do this ASAP so I continue with my geocaching stuff Thanks in advance Cissy
  8. Could you please consider to attach GPX file to the notification email? Off course, nice would be an option in notification settings, so anyone can enable or disable it.
  9. We have received your new waymark submission: Home is Here - Guthrie, OK. You will receive an email notifying you when it has been reviewed and approved. Listings are reviewed by the waymark's category managers. Normally, waymarks are reviewed within 36-72 hours, but it can sometimes take longer. In the meantime, if you wish to edit your waymark listing, you can use the link below or use the waypoint name WMZ558. _________ 1. You receive an email notification when the waymark is reviewed, whether it's approved or declined. 2. You can't edit the waymark after you submit it. You'll have to cancel the submission if you want to edit it.
  10. Just wondering if anyone had any useful pointers on this issue. I don't check mails over the weekend much, and I'd like to be prompted for when there are new caches close to my location. So I use the notifications to generate the appropriate emails when a new cache is published. Using gmail, these notifications are automagically forwarded to a specific email account after being received in my main geocaching mail account. I came across a service provided by x-on (no link provided, but you can track it down if you are interested) that allows 3 free emails to be sent to a mobile by SMS per day. I don't anticipate receiving more than 3 per day (usually that many per week would be a maximum) so I thought I might be able to use that to receive some up to date notification. I can email perfectly fine to the SMS number and receive the SMS quickly. But when the email is created automatically (either by filtering by gmail and forwarding, or alternatively using xfruits to create an RSS from gmail and then use xfruits again to email the RSS feed to the SMS email number) it doesn't arrive. I suspect that the x-on free service is ignoring emails where the header shows that it isn't a "normal" email - i.e. forwarded etc. Does anyone know of any way of making this work, or an alternative way of getting a few emails sent to SMS? My mobile provider (virgin) doesn't have a working email to SMS gateway for PAYG customers (despite some websites claiming that they do). THanks a lot for any help / pointers. Matt
  11. Need to change my primary email address - how do I do it? Thanks GFT
  12. In the message center, I have "forward messages to e-mail" set. Today I got one such email. I looked at the message center and was horrified to see that I have received six other messages in the last three months, none of which caused an email. This failure caused me to miss out on some opportunities. I would very much appreciate a way to opt out of the message center so that the "Send message" link on my profile is grayed out and users fall back to "Send e-mail".
  13. For many years I have been running Pocket Queries and Geocaching sends me an email notification for each PQ. But now I still want the PQ run every week, but I don’t want the email notification as I usually just download it when I require it. I can’t find the switch to turn that part off, can anyone help?
  14. Sent an email message to another geocacher using the direct email link (not message center), first time on June, 14th. Since then the message has been sent again several times to both, the addressee and as copy to myself. Last time this morning 08:59 local time. Other users to whom I sent emails directly are not affected. Cannot see any cause.
  15. Is it possible to turn off the email notifications when my discoverable trackables are discovered? I like bringing my geocoins and trackables at events for others to discover, but I don't like the email notifications I receive for each one of them when they log them. I can read the logs in the trackable's page if I want to. It's a hassle to get lots of email notifications for each one of them. Like, if I go to an event and there are 10-15 people logging my 34 discoverable trackables, that's a lot of emails to delete - most of them are generic logs.
  16. I am unable to add a new email address in the "Email Preferences" setting. When I go there I see the entry box display for a second, then when the list of email addresses displays, it over writes the entry box. I currently have 5 email addresses associated with my account. How do I add a new email address? I have deleted an old address that I no longer use, but the entry box is still getting over written. I have tried using IE (Windows 7), Chrome (Windows 7), Chrome (Android 4.4.4), Dolphin (Android 4.4.4). This is the URL: https://www.geocaching.com/account/settings/emailpreferences that I am going to. Thanks Terrible Ts
  17. I used to live abroad but since I returned to Germany I don't get any emails anymore. I set up notifications but there isn't a single one coming in. I also don't get any information about the logs of my geocaches. Sometimes I get an email telling me about a message and I got the email with the survey from geocaching.com. Is there anything I can do about that? Or how can I report this problem? Thank you very much!
  18. Hello everyone, Is anyone out there who can help me with the following? Our geocaching name is one for our family (dad, mum and 2 kids). Both mum and dad have their own email address, but as far as I can find, there's only one email address I can put as main mail address. Now all notifications are sent only to the mail address. For newly published caches (setup notifications), I can make 2 separate notifications and make them sent to both, but for logs, this doesn't work... Especially for logs of our own hidden caches and caches on our watch list, I'd like that there'd be a mail sent to BOTH mail addresses. Is this possible and if so, how/where can I change those settings? Thanks a lot in advance! palarunca
  19. Is adding someone by username the only way to add friends? Or is it possible to search a person by email address (or send invitation)?
  20. how do I get rid of an old email address for my account that I no longer have, can set a new one but the old one still says primary and will not let me remove it This as being stopping me receiving messages or able to renew my account
  21. Hi all, Been meaning to ask this for a while. When i get an email notifying of new caches it always relates to my previous address in the Midlands. On my Geocaching profile my home location is correct in the account settings so what else do i need to change to ensure that i get notifications for my new area??
  22. "The "Send Email" feature is disabled because this email address has not been validated by the user" Have this message on my profile page now (been premium since 2011, same email). How do I fix this? .
  23. I frequently get messages about my earthcache through the message center, and up until the changes in October have always been able to reply to the email I received which would post into the message center. Now when I reply to the email, nothing is happening in the message center which leads me to believe my replies are not going through. Cheers, Ge0Patr0l
  24. I've been keeping track of my grandson's finds on "his" page, but it is listed under my email address with a second name and password. Today I tried to enter a find on his account and could not. I had to verify my account to get back into it and can not get to his to move it to a new email address. I'm guessing there can now only be one account on any particular email address, but am not sure how to transfer his to a new address without losing any data from either account.
  25. Hi, when using the adoption tool for a geocache and run the adoption process, the confirmation email for the giving cache owner contains a wrong piece (see screenshot). Instead of the receiving cache owner's name it says "RazorEngine.Templating.DynamicViewBag,AdopterName". ;-) The adoption process on the website finished without error messages. I don't know if the adoption process actually works - will have to wait for the receiving owner to reply. ;-) Thanks for the service! best - Marcello
