  3. Where do I download maps for Garmin? Anyone have the link?
  4. I have a Garmin Oregon 450 that came with a micro SD that was 1 GB and I have another that is 8 GB (class 10). When I plugged the Garmin into my computer, It did not show any more storage on the Garmin than it had before and it also showed a greyed-out F:/ drive that "Windows can't access" I have tried plugging it into all the ports on my computer, plus others, I have formatted the card twice, I updated the firmware and updated Garmin express as well. Can somebody point out what I'm doing wrong?
  5. I got a 67i a few months ago and finally got around to actually caching this weekend. We did the Chehalis/Centralia Cache Machine, https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GCAGZYJ_chehalis-centralia-cache-machine-dinner My GPS was connected to my phone so every time I found a cache it was auto logged "Submitted via Garmin Live Geocaching" to GC.com. Is there a way to either create a canned log to be uploaded or not automatically upload the logs. And now that all of my finds/DNFs have been uploaded it there a way to delete those logs so that I can log via GSAK like i normally do with for Cache Machines. Thanks Jeff-
  6. When sending navigation information from any geocaching app (Geocaching app, Adventure Lab app) I get the message "No Location Information Found In The Link Provided". This only started in the later half of 2023. It was working before this. I believe it may be due to these app sending only coordinates and not addresses. Has something changed?
  8. how i download Pocket Queries direct to garmin 64st
  9. I have created and named a list that I can see in both the Geocache App and on Geocaching.com, I can also see the list exists on my Garmin 67i but when I press enter on the list the list is highlighted as not synced, when I enter the list it gives me the option to sync, when I press enter it seemingly starts to sync then on page stating Basic geocache details downloaded with continue highlighted at the bottom of the screen, when I then press enter it takes me back to the original list which states not synced and I have to start all over again and this then becomes a continuous loop, can anyone help me get out of this madhouse please ? If it helps I can download photos of each of the screens !
  10. Hi. Existing a garmin device that support add a longer text than "Found it"? Presets log which I always use to logging a geocache. And I can set this log in Garmin too. Thanks
  11. looking to purchase a used garmin oregon 550 but not sure if it is compatable with Garmin express, or if it is worth buying at all. Hope to hear what others have to say.
  12. I solved a puzzle cache that says you need CHIRP for the final. Do you need a gps or can you do it with a phone gps with an app?
  13. A geocacher contacted me and told me the required answer (input, question requires and answer in text format) cannot be given, because the answer is too long. I don't have this problem when I test the cartridge. I use a smartphone. The geocacher is using a Garmin Oregon GPS. How many fields can the given answer be when playing a cartridge on a Garmin Oregon?
  14. How do I get this GPS to stop navigating to a geocache and return to the regular map?
  15. This is the worse possible time for this problem to be happening as I just started my trip. My GPS handheld was working fine until I removed the AA batteries for charging. As soon as I reinserted the batteries, this problem started. My Garmin GPSMAP 66S suddenly become non-functional with the message "Updating GPS firmware" and going 0% then 1% (see attached screenshot) and the message disappearing and no GPS function. Unfortunately, I don't have a laptop/computer with me as I'm out of the country. I only have an Android and iPhone with me and the Garmin app installed. I don't know how else to troubleshoot and fix the GPS unit. I tried a hard reset and the problem didn't go away. My handheld is using the latest firmware. I think it's 2.70? I recalled updating it before I left for my trip. Help?
  16. Has anyone else had this problem. It started with a bulk load two times ago. Now there is a space in between the letters, where before there wasn't. This a nuisance, because at times when I have loaded some caches individually, I like to copy and paste the GC number to do a quick search for found caches, so as to delete it from the Garmin. I can't do a fast copy paste search with this, as the spaces in between the number and letters interfere with this, unless I laboriously remove the spaces. What change did this?
  17. Hello, I want to get into geocaching again :-) I am going to buy handheld gps - can you recommend a Garmin 750i or 67i? - also I am doing some Hiking too :-) Cheers and thx in advance for any answer. Torben
  18. I have several car GPS units (e.g. Garmin Drive 52) that I use in different vehicles in my household. I regularly generate pocket queries on geocaching.com, and then download them to my Garmin Drive using Garmin's "POI Loader" (https://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=927). As you're aware if you use pocket queries, most pocket queries generate two GPX files: one containing the cache information, and one containing all the waypoints for the caches in the other file. Some time ago (months ago, perhaps?), POI Loader started complaining that the files containing the waypoint information were invalid, and wouldn't load them onto the Drive unit. The "regular" GPX files were loaded without difficulty. This isn't optimal, especially when some caches have waypoints specifically for recommended parking areas adjacent to the cache. This seems to be happening on multiple computers and with multiple different Drive units. Has anyone else observed this behavior? Does anyone know how to fix this?
  19. Im sorry but ive been out of the game for a while, but how do I transfer pocket ques to my Garmin 62s? Thanks in advance. I know there has probably been a thousand questions like this.
  20. Thinking of replacing my ancient nuvi with one of the new Garmin Drive series units. It looks like there are two apps that will do extra stuff with these units, but I'm not finding anything that shows the difference between the Garmin Smartphone Link app vs the Garmin Drive App. Anyone have experience with both or know of a comparison table/site?
  21. How can I load caches to my nuvi using garmin express to show the cache name and not the gc#?
  22. Good morning everyone, I'm a bit stuck (and so is my Garmin :)) Hope someone can help. I've got two Garmin 64s' in front of me and one has the following problem: When I find a cache on the map I put the arrow on top of it so the name of the cache shows up in the top of the screen I then press [Enter]. On the one Garmin it opens up the cache details page with a blue button on the bottom saying: [ GO ]. On the other Garmin I do the same thing but the page is empty with the same [ GO ] button on the bottom. The page immediately get's stuck and all I can do is turn off the Garmin to get out of it. I have no idea what's going on. I put exactly the same info, the same GPX's the same maps everything the same on both Garmins... All help is appreciated, SacajaweaX
  23. My Garmin 64st suddenly decided it wouldn't store my geocaching finds by calendar day. It just stopped doing so all of a sudden; I don't think I changed any adjustments. (It still will list any new Waypoints by calendar day.) This is making it hard for me to keep track of my finds when I get home and want to log them on my computer. Any insight will be appreciated.
  24. I intend to use my device to create a GPX file for geotagging my photos. How do I configure it for maximum accuracy? I'm assuming GPS+Galileo will yield the highest accuracy? Can I enable WWAS? I also intend to set the recording interval to one second.
  25. I was trying to get the old Montana 650t GPS charged up and connected, and everything was working until this morning when I noticed that the Power Button is missing. All I see now is a microswitch inside on the circuit board. Now I am wondering if I should get a Montana 700 or a GPSMap 67, since I have the iPhone 13 Pro.?? I could keep the GPSMap 64st, or is it worth it, to upgrade to GPSMap 67 with long battery life? No I see that the Montana 650t was from the Summer of 2011, and the GPSMap 64st was from 2014, so that one is supported with the latest firmware, to work with Garmin Explore App and website. P. S. - I have been a Very long time away from Geocaching, GPS units, and even lack of hiking. The Smartphone and Internet to blame.
