  1. Newbie. Just started geocaching, we did a multicache and could not figure out how to input the second set of coordinates into the oregon 200 while out on the field?
  2. I am a total newbie - just purchased an Oregon 200 last week, and subscribed as a premium member in order to do the paperless geocaching. So far I only seem to be able to download the geocache info, hints and logs individually by geocache - which is very time consuming! When I select a group of geocaches for download, I only receive the coordinates. Is there a way I can select a group of geocaches and download the pocket query info, without having to do it individually? Any help would be appreciated!
  3. I am looking to sell both my Meridian Gold and Explorist 200. The Meridian comes with the auto power cord, a 2Gb memory card, and a case. It only exhibits some wear and tear. The Explorist comes with a wrist strap, and is in like new condition. It hasn't seen much use since I got the Meridian. $125 for both, or 75$ for the Meridian and 50$ for the Explorist 200. Also willing to consider trades for Garmin models. Shipping is extra, probably about $10-15 by USPS, depending on where you live. I will ship to US only, exceptions available for Service Members, as I appreciate what you do. Please contact me by email if you are interested.
  4. I know the difference as far as features and such, but I am wondering if there is an internal difference as far as antenna or anything like that? Just curious if the higher models worked better at satellite acquisition, locking, ect. I know I am not happy with my 200 so I am trying to decide whether to sell it and buy a higher end Oregon or another model all together or just keep it and deal with less than good performance.
  5. Hello, I recently bought a new Explorist 200 from a local retailer. I noticed it wasn't utilizing WAAS as it should have been. Called Magellan support and they said it is a firmware issue that can no longer be addressed. They offered to exchange my Explorist 200 out for a Triton 300. It seems like a good deal to me. But I started reading reviews on the Triton 300 and they mostly seemed negative. I also noticed that they were older posts generated when the Triton's were first released. Here's where I need your help if you don't mind, please. I really like the Explorist and from what I've seen, the Tritons have very similar menus and feel. Can any Triton users here give me some opinions on their units? Also, how do they compare to the Explorist series? I really appreciate your help!
  6. Streetview just added a whole load of UK imaging, so huge areas of the country are now covered, there must be a cacher 'caught in the act' on there somewhere. Anyone spotted themselves yet?
  7. I purchased an Oregon 200 series recently, I previously used an Etrex legend. I am findind that the Oregon is completely useless. The compass will say 20 ft to cache and then will suddenly point you 30 ft in another direction. I am looking for a possible fix for this or any suggestions on a paperless gps to replace this one.
  8. I am looking to purchase a good TOPO map for my new Oregon 200. Right now I am looking at the Garmin 24K TOPO Mountain South (Arizona, New Mexico) and the National Geographic state maps (Arizona). Has anyone had any experience with either or suggestions, considerations, advice?
  9. I have a magellan Explorist 200, What is DATUM, the factory setting is WGS84 but I also see in the list CANAD which would be the better to use and what really is the difference? Also why is my clock never the correct time? Even after setting it to the correct time? And, How come the accuracy section never indicates the "accuracy" it is always blank? I should mention im in the Toronto Area...
  10. I just purchased a Oregon 200 and took it caching for the first time yesterday and it worked great. I adjusted some basic settings last night and now the distance to the geocache or waypoint does not display. Any ideas on what I may have done?
  11. I'll keep this short and sweet, I want a unit that is new or like new (not trashed) and preferably has no screen scratches. I don't need the box but manuals, included accessories and a computer cable would be lovely. I need the bottom line price to be $200 or lower, shipping included. These are the units that I'm looking for: 1. Garmin GPSMAP 60CSX 2. Delorme PN-30 3. Delorme PN-40 Thanks and please PM me if you have anything to offer!
  12. I have a SanDisk microSDHC card. Will this work in the Garmin Oregon 200. It calls for a MicroSD card.
  13. So I just sent back the 400i and opted for the 200 that Bass Pro had on sale. Although the 400i was nice, I did not feel the added features were worth the extra cost to me. This is my first experience with a GPS and was really only needing it for locating and refinding waypoints along with some inland lake and driving navigation. I have since uploaded the latest firmware and also loaded free Topo maps from gpsdepotfile and am looking to add a micro SD card to expand the memory for more maps. I am very satisfied with this unit so far and can not wait to use more extensively in the fall.
  14. Hello, I've been Geocaching for a few weeks now with my Nuvi 350 and have decided to buy a handheld GPS. I was going to get the Garmin 60Cx, but when I got to Costco they were out of that model and had the Oregon 200 for $20 more than what the 60Cx would cost. Now I don't know if I should get the Oregon, or go to Walmart for the 60Cx. So, I am wondering if you had to choose between these uniits, which would you buy? Many thanks, Michele
  15. Can a Nuvi 200 sync with City Streets or anything else? I need to have a database of the waypoints. Thanks, Joey
  16. I need a bit of help. I use a Mac, and have always used a Garmin Edge 205 for all my geocaching - until it recently packed up and died. I bought an Oregon 200 and have been very excited about it so far - but I've found that I'ev been unable to load my pocket query into it! MacCaching doesn't work with the Oregon anymore, complaining about a USB interface problem. I downloaded GeoJournal for the Mac, but it doesn't seem to include the Oregon in its support list either. Can someone help and give me some suggestions of what else I can try? Thanks in advance! artemisworks
  17. When turning on my Garmin 200, a prompt is coming up that says "maximum number of gpx files exceeded" How do i delete some? Would this prevent me from downloading further caches?
  18. I'm wanting to know if there is a way to delete the "Found Caches" off my unit? If I can't, will it use up all the memory on the unit? I have logged 100 caches, so far and am wanting to clear them off it at all possible?
  19. Im looking a purchasing a noew GPS unit. Im looking at buying either the Garmin Oregon 200 or the Lowrance Out & Back. Could you please advise the pros and cons and what you think is the better buy. Also, does anyone know if the Out & Back can recieve geocaching files directly from Geocaching.com as the Garmin units can? Thanks!
  20. Need someone in Bradenton or Sarasota to help us set up our new triton 2000. Would like someone to tutor us on setting this up would be happy to pay for your time. email:rchuler@tambay.rr.com
  21. Hi folks!, Don't laugh. The Explorist 200 was free and it has been a very trusty little unit. Anyway, the accuracy is ok, just the clock has seemed to slip 3 seconds. I had this problem before and fixed it with a recommendation from this forum. I did a search here but can't seem to find anything on this particular subject. I did a clear and dump but it didn't work for the clock (and I had two WAAS birds, now I only have one. I knew that might happen). Time to go shopping I think. Wayne
  22. downloaded some geocaches to my gps, no longer need them, how do i remove/delete them from my gps? this is new to me and my gps didnt come with a geocaching for dummies manual. looked on line for users manual and no where in it can i find how to remove geocaches.............help
  23. Hi everyone! We are very new to this. Haven't even found our first cache yet. We have an Oregon 200 and the maps seem to be horrible!!! I've done some searching on the web, but haven't figured out how to update the maps yet. Can someone help me with this??? It would be great if it was cheap to do too! lol Thanks! April TeamDavisPerson
  24. Wow. This Oregon is so much easier to use than the Venture HC I accidentally donated to a river. The touch screen is easy to use. The paperless geocaching is great. I loaded 100 or so closest to my house in no time - and it's so easy to find them and the details and whatnot. The screen is huge in comparison and the resolution is wonderful. It's very clear and easy to use. My only problem so far is that I need to add a TON of memory. That's the main feature I wanted - was the ability to add a card. I'll pick up an 8GB card on the way home and play some more tonight. I'm hoping to figure out some Google Earth transfers (both ways). Once I've got it out in the field some and found a few caches with it, I'll write a proper review. I've also got to upgrade the firmware (O/S?). I intend to get City Navigator and hope that I'll be able to use it to get close to a cache, then switch over to the 100:1 Topo map to get from the parking spot to the cache. If it'll do that smoothly and effectively, I will be major-league stoked. Also, if I can put in waypoints I find on Google Earth to be able to drive to them and then hike to the next, I will be thrilled. I've been spending a lot of time on Google Earth looking for new fishing locations, and would love to be able to work it out with the GPSr. - Zurfco p.s. Thanks to everyone who have been so helpful to me already. I'm sure I'll have a million more questions. Your patience with a new GPSr user is greatly appreciated.
  25. After some of you guys had good luck with the free NUVI 200 giveaway, I decided to give it a go. Signed up, which does include your personal info (which made me nervous at first). But, I figured Discover is a big name company and wouldnt mind having a Discover card anyway. Signed up for it and bought grocerys and a tank of gas. Not exactly sure how long ago it was, (maybe 2 months ago or so) and I get a box in the mail, which is a brand new NUVI 200. Unbelievable. I figured I would get junk mail for sure and havent yet (well anymore than I already do), and never get a junk call on my cell phone because I didnt use my correct cell phone number. I am normally pretty reluctant about these things, but I actually like my Discover card and didnt have to jump through hoops or anything to get a GPS. This NUVI goes well with my Vista HCX, which Im letting the 'ol lady use. Im not recommending this at all, just told everybody I would report back on my personal experience. Glad I did it!!
