On Feb 16th you listed these topics as being "in work". I can't speak for all of them, but for topic 3 there has been no change in the last 3 weeks. I am still not able to create lists with more than 200 search results with one click. I would appreciate some update of the status.

I am on an extended vacation, and somehow in my travels the map on my Oregon got erased! Ever since I was limited to caching with my iPhone, but am now in an area where there is no reception. Is there a way to recover them? I checked the mygarmin site, but no dice yet. Any help will be appreciated! Thanks!

I've just received my Oregon 200 and have finally found the time to sit and load talkytoaster's maps. Except I can't. Really not sure where I'm going wrong - please help! I've downloaded the zipped file to my PC. I've unzipped it and renamed it GMAPSUPP.IMG I've tried to drag and drop it to the GARMIN folder when the Oregon is attached via USB. Message saying file too large (with 4gb SD card inserted?) So loaded it directly onto SD card. Reinserted card in Oregon, no sign of it under Setup, Maps. What am I doing wrong?! Grrrrr......

It's gps is off! It thinks I live a street over and we found a cache today but could never have unless I had a picture spoiler clue as it was about 100 yards away! Do I need to reset the thing? Which I am slightly reluctant to do because I will lose the voice of Ozzie Ozborne that came with it (bought it off ebay) or is there something else I can do to make it know where things are?

I am probally going to get the Garmin Orgeon 200 as I have a gift card for Bass Pro and this is the only GPS that I like in my price range. A few questions: 1. Would I really need a compas? This unit does not come with one and I don't use the compas on my current unit. 2. Would I better served getting the Orgeon 400t? I will only be geocaching and maybe taking this unit on my kayak when I go fishing. Is this unit worth the extra $130? Thanks.

I have a 400t and a 200. I honestly don't need both. They are both in great shape and I have the carabiner, computer cord and original box. Not sure how much I could get out of them. Anyone have ideas about starting asking price. I will advertise here first then probably put one on ebay.

I just purchased the City Navigator North America NT DVD so that I could install it on an SD card for my Oregon 200. I'm not sure if I put the unlock code on the GPS or on the SD card when it asks for the device. I'll have to store the maps on the card because of the small amount of memory on the 200. I'm a little confused. I've been doing some searching on the Garmin site as well as other locations on the web, but I've had no luck. Can anyone help?

Obviously, something went wrong with my origingal post. Sorry about that. What I said was: I lost my Explorist 210 and need a replacement. The 210 was perfect for me and if I can duplicate it then I would be very happy. I have my geocaches, POI's and an important route through the desert (offroading) someone else did and posted on the internet which I loaded on the 210 and intend to do in about 4 weeks. I looked at a Triton 200 on Amazon but the sole reviewer trashed the base map. If the Triton 200 base map is as good (or no worse depending on your outlook) then that is good enough for me. Also, it has to be able to be hooked up to a computer to download the aforementioned stuff. So my simple question is: is the Triton 200 a worthy successor to the Explorist 210? I don't have time to learn another manufacturer's product so please don't go there. Thanks.

Hi, I am selling a brand new Garmin Dakota 10 that I got as a gift and dont need. I put batteries in it and powered it up to see what it was like, probably ran for 5 minutes total. I dont need another GPS so am selling it.

Some of this may be old news, but I'm quite excited about it and wanted to share this setup with other Garmin Nuvi users: Recently I had asked for advice in this forum on selecting a GPS to fit my needs and received many helpful answers. I intend to purchase one of the recommended GPS devices, but I have also discovered couple of things that fit in my budget and fulfill most of my needs without purchasing a new GPSr just now. One of the biggest problems with my Nuvi is the short 2-3 hour battery life that makes it useless on long caching/hiking trips. While I was researching some options, I came upon a Nuvi battery extender. This extender promises up to 9 additional hours of battery life per 4 AA battery set. So in effect, it's battery life is only limited by the number of rechargeable batteries I want to lug around. I haven't ordered it yet, but it would seem to be an effective solution. I'll post results when I get it. The next thing I found actually came from link-surfing these forums. Paperless Caching with a Garmin GPS. This I have tried and it works perfectly. My $99 Garmin Nuvi 200, which has been astoundingly awesome for driving, now gives me Pocket Query cache locations (not sure what the limit is, but I have 500 currently), each one with a detailed list including name, difficulty, size, hints and the first few logs for each. It also tells me whether I've visited a cache before, and allows me to bookmark the caches I want to log on geocaching.com. And of course, being a Garmin Nuvi, I can load on whatever kind of map I want. One remaining issue is the Nuvi's accuracy in dense woods or against a cliff face etc, but this is easily solved by getting to a clear spot and using a compass and pacing to get to GZ. The Nuvi is generally no more than 10 feet off anyhow (and it's occasionally dead on), and with a little Boy Scout mojo, I tend to do just fine in the tests I have run in a nearby heavily wooded lot. Another remaining issue is the fact that if you drop it in a puddle, it's a goner. Fortunately there are all kinds of cases out there that will provide some degree of protection from water damage, but nothing much to protect it should it fall in the deep end. I'll just have to be careful. Seems that I may be able to get the majority of the features of a $400 GPSr out of a $100 Nuvi. Not too shabby. I'll let y'all know how it works out.

I bought the Oregon 200 for $259.99 because I already had a copy of Topo 2008. In addition, I was able to install City Navigator NT on it for free because Garmin gave me a new install code because I lost my my Legend HCx which came bundled with it. I bought a new 8GB Micro SD card for $10 and loaded all of my maps on it and I still have tons of room to spare! Anybody remember when you would happily go geocaching on a unit with 8MB, not GB, of memory! I thought about spending a little more to get the compass and barometer. NOT! I never needed it before and I don't need it now. The Paperless caching saves a ton of time if you download the pocket queries from Geocaching.com. I shredded the logbook that I used to carry around. The screen is very hard to read in direct sunlight when the shading is turned on and it looks awesome at night. But, if you turn the shading off and have the white background, then the screen is just as readable as my old Legend HCx in direct California sunlight. I'll never go back to a non-touch screen GPS. Also, I upraded to 2.86(?)which is the latest beta software for the Oregon and I am now getting readings in the 9ft range. It took me to several Geocaches today without a problem (very accurate). By the way, you can store your .gpx files on either the unit or the SD card. I don't see any performance hits by loading it on the SD vs. the internal memory. In my humble opinion, the Oregon 200 is a real winner. Oh, I almost forgot. I have seen City Navigator NT on Amazon for as little as 67.00 and the TOPO for 74.99.

Newbie. Just started geocaching, we did a multicache and could not figure out how to input the second set of coordinates into the oregon 200 while out on the field?

I am a total newbie - just purchased an Oregon 200 last week, and subscribed as a premium member in order to do the paperless geocaching. So far I only seem to be able to download the geocache info, hints and logs individually by geocache - which is very time consuming! When I select a group of geocaches for download, I only receive the coordinates. Is there a way I can select a group of geocaches and download the pocket query info, without having to do it individually? Any help would be appreciated!

I am looking to sell both my Meridian Gold and Explorist 200. The Meridian comes with the auto power cord, a 2Gb memory card, and a case. It only exhibits some wear and tear. The Explorist comes with a wrist strap, and is in like new condition. It hasn't seen much use since I got the Meridian. $125 for both, or 75$ for the Meridian and 50$ for the Explorist 200. I know the difference as far as features and such, but I am wondering if there is an internal difference as far as antenna or anything like that? Just curious if the higher models worked better at satellite acquisition, locking, ect. I know I am not happy with my 200 so I am trying to decide whether to sell it and buy a higher end Oregon or another model all together or just keep it and deal with less than good performance.

Hello, I recently bought a new Explorist 200 from a local retailer. I noticed it wasn't utilizing WAAS as it should have been. Called Magellan support and they said it is a firmware issue that can no longer be addressed. They offered to exchange my Explorist 200 out for a Triton 300. It seems like a good deal to me. But I started reading reviews on the Triton 300 and they mostly seemed negative. I also noticed that they were older posts generated when the Triton's were first released. Here's where I need your help if you don't mind, please. I really like the Explorist and from what I've seen, the Tritons have very similar menus and feel. Can any Triton users here give me some opinions on their units? Also, how do they compare to the Explorist series? I really appreciate your help!

Streetview just added a whole load of UK imaging, so huge areas of the country are now covered, there must be a cacher 'caught in the act' on there somewhere. Anyone spotted themselves yet?

I purchased an Oregon 200 series recently, I previously used an Etrex legend. I am findind that the Oregon is completely useless. The compass will say 20 ft to cache and then will suddenly point you 30 ft in another direction. I am looking for a possible fix for this or any suggestions on a paperless gps to replace this one.

I am looking to purchase a good TOPO map for my new Oregon 200. Right now I am looking at the Garmin 24K TOPO Mountain South (Arizona, New Mexico) and the National Geographic state maps (Arizona). Has anyone had any experience with either or suggestions, considerations, advice?

I have a magellan Explorist 200, What is DATUM, the factory setting is WGS84 but I also see in the list CANAD which would be the better to use and what really is the difference? Also why is my clock never the correct time? Even after setting it to the correct time? And, How come the accuracy section never indicates the "accuracy" it is always blank? I should mention im in the Toronto Area...

I just purchased a Oregon 200 and took it caching for the first time yesterday and it worked great. I adjusted some basic settings last night and now the distance to the geocache or waypoint does not display. Any ideas on what I may have done?

The new "ENHANCED" search sucks! I cannot do things easily like we used to be able to. It does not use my home coords....shows me things 200+ miles or more away when looking for local things....doesn't show both D & T. So many issues, NOT USER FRIENDLY....why change something that wasn't broke! I dislike this update very much!

I have a SanDisk microSDHC card. Will this work in the Garmin Oregon 200. It calls for a MicroSD card.
