  1. Hey all, CFE or Crit here. Located in Mid-Michigan and been caching on and off since 2014 as a wee lad. I'm quite younger than most veteran cachers, but have recently been reinvigorated with the love for the art by introducing a new friend to caching and we've been on a spree finding them since. For having cached for as many years as I have, it may be surprising that I just recently got over the 200-find mark. But as life tends to be, I do not have easy transport access and was really only able to find those within bicycle distance for the longest time. Hoping to change that soon and change is already in progress. I'm still very proud that the first cache I hid back in 2014 is still around to this day, even if I can't be there to do maintenance on it. I really want that ownership transferred, yeesh... Best find? Probably one in the woods with a bunch of multicolored bison tubes and only 1 of the tubes had the log inside. Either that or a walk down a deertrail to an abandoned piece of wall with elaborate graffiti on it. Cheers, and glad to be a part of this community for this long, and my goal is to keep the trade going for as long as I can, being part of the newer generation of cachers...
  2. I've been setting up my Triton today and the time is wrong on it.I've set the correct time zone but it's still about 20 minutes off.How do I set the time?
  3. I just got the Oregon 200, if I use the send to gps from the cache page it works fine. When I try to send over a gpx file I dont get any of them on the gps. I have always used easygps, when I try to send the caches to the gps from easygps, nothing goes to the gps. I also tried just dragging the file to the gps but it had no information about the cache, except the cords, no name or anything. Any help here would be great, thanks Travis
  4. Saw this while surfing this morning, a Bushnell ONIX 200 GPS System with TruView Navigation for $59.99 on http://www.woot.com. I check this site everyday and they seem to have some pretty good deals. Figured if someone was looking for a gps this might be an ok one to start with. Of course if your looking to get it you will have to do it today (12-23) because they change what they are selling at midnight everyday.
  5. I'm not sure about it because it's an older model, and the reason it's for sale is because it's being discontinued. But my price range is $250 max. The other model I was looking at is the magellan explorist GC.
  6. I have an opportunity to buy a Mangellan Explorist 200 Handheld GPS for 50 bucks. The unit looks new, seems to function fine, comparing it to my blackberry GPS for accuracy. It was a gift for someone that doesn't "do outdoors." Bottom line it for me guys. I am brand new, a bench mark chaser and I want to make a small investment before I go to the big dawgs. Do you think 50 bucks is too much for this unit? He's got the carrying case and manual. Let me hear from you.
  7. I was under the impression those third-party stat sites only count those participating/contributing to them. Is that not true? Cacherstats has almost all finders with more than 200 finds (with rare exeptions). 200 because they assume interest in statistcs only after finding more than a few caches. The numbers don't differ too much from project-gc's numbers: country cacherstats.com project-gc.com (cachers with min. 200 finds, numbers for project-gc only if <10000) / cachers with min. 1 find in 2015 / proportion cachers2015 to cachers>200 1. So 383792 seems quite realistic, even though a few are missing, I would believe <1%. In areas with very few caches one can hit 200 only while traveling, so 200 might be a bit high for such areas. Last year 1,917.042 cachers had found at least one cache, this is five times the number of cachers with more than 200 finds. The proportion differs significantly depending on country.
  8. Hi everyone, I have looked and I cant find a way to erase the caches I have found. Can anyone help?
  9. THIS! I just had a couple big days of caching, with over a couple hundred finds. I uploaded all the drafts/fieldnotes, and then before posting any logs on any of them, I suffered some uncertainty about whether I had actually included everything. So because I wanted to make sure nothing was duplicated, I deleted everything and started over. NOW I CANNOT UPLOAD any of my 200+ drafts. Having to drag up each of those webpages manually to log them all is going to make me very, very frustrated. Groundspeak, this is not helpful! At the very least, there should be prominent warnings indicating that deleting a draft will result in never ever being able to use it again, even if you haven't followed through and posted a log from it! But seriously, how boneheaded is that?!
  10. Hello, I am looking at getting a new Oregon 200 for caching, Gander Mountain has them in their Black Friday add for just a mere $199.99 a $250 savings! I currently use a GPS60 but would like to do a couple of where i go caches if it will do so, if it doesnt I will just stick to the GPS 60. Any help or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks Rob
  11. The page: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/history.aspx seems to be stuck; on top of the list is 6/18/2010 needaxeo found [Traditional Cache] Leighton-Linslade Trail - Linslade Wood 4 Eastern England, United Kingdom Or has no-one logged a cache ;-)
  12. Have you Garmin Oregon 200? Can uses game Wherigo please?
  13. I have a brand new Garmin Oregon 200 for sale. Never used and sealed Topo Canada DVD. This is the latest version. Will take $330.00 for it all. I am able to ship it anywhere in Canada, I don't know about the US, but if interested I can look. This unit is great for Geocaching, I use the same unit for myself and love it. Mike 314tps@live.ca
  14. i have a GPS60 and want to go paperless i had heard the Oregon 200 was a good unit and was selling at a good price. Any imput would be great. 15. Just wondering if the magellan triton 200 is good for geocaching. -P1623
  16. Bonjour.
  17. Unfortunately this does not do, what I want. If my search results in more than 500 hits, only the first 500 will be mapped. I see no chance to somehow map the rest. Is it really too much of a request to just be able to add all of them to the list and not only the first 200?
  18. I want to create a profile with icons like waypoint ave. geocaching, compass, and all waypoint icons on one screen. Is it possible to move the icons?
  19. Selling my garmin colorado 400c. Brand new still in box. Condition 10/10. Comes with box all accesories. call or text 6269914515 for quickest response. Local Pick up only. Can meet near Rancho Cucamonga or Long Beach area. Thanks Ernie
  20. Yes this is what I meant: Moving ALL search results to a list and not only the first 200. Which is really tedious to do.
  21. GPSr prices have gone up, and it's getting harder to find something under $200 that isn't the Etrex 10... Oregon 700 or GPSMAP 64s is a good choice but around $250... Or upgrade your current phone to something like the Moto G8 or an Iphone 7, which is around $200 but accurate as any GPSr on the market. You'll get a much nicer cellphone that fully works with geocaching.
  22. Everyone gets access to all non-premium caches right now for free for merely signing up on the website. Better start archiving your caches. At one time I was a new geocacher who didn't know what I was doing. I used the website instead of an app, because at the time there wasn't an app, and I found an inexpensive GPS receiver on a clearance rack, but I didn't go and destroy everyone's geocaches. I made mistakes and wrote stupid logs in the beginning but eventually I learned. App users aren't bad people bent on destroying a game we all love, they're trying out and then hopefully continuing in a game that you and I enjoy. Apps give easy access to people who already have smartphones, and help introduce people to this game, people who normally wouldn't go out and spend $200 on a GPS receiver just to try geocaching. And if they get into the game, they can purchase premium membership just like I eventually did. I don't want to see people who have have been geocaching for a while yelling at app users to "get off their lawn". Yes. The old app worked well. And then a new app replaced it that reduced functionality to basic members. I'm asking for the app to go back to that state, whether for free or possibly through an in-app purchase.
  23. I am on an extended vacation, and somehow in my travels the map on my Oregon got erased! Ever since I was limited to caching with my iPhone, but am now in an area where there is no reception. Is there a way to recover them? I checked the mygarmin site, but no dice yet. Any help will be appreciated! Thanks!
  24. I've just received my Oregon 200 and have finally found the time to sit and load talkytoaster's maps. Except I can't. Really not sure where I'm going wrong - please help! I've downloaded the zipped file to my PC. I've unzipped it and renamed it GMAPSUPP.IMG I've tried to drag and drop it to the GARMIN folder when the Oregon is attached via USB. Message saying file too large (with 4gb SD card inserted?) So loaded it directly onto SD card. Reinserted card in Oregon, no sign of it under Setup, Maps. What am I doing wrong?! Grrrrr......
  25. It's gps is off! It thinks I live a street over and we found a cache today but could never have unless I had a picture spoiler clue as it was about 100 yards away! Do I need to reset the thing? Which I am slightly reluctant to do because I will lose the voice of Ozzie Ozborne that came with it (bought it off ebay) or is there something else I can do to make it know where things are?
