  3. I am proud to introduce the Butterfly Kisses "Sunset" geocoin, a brand new version of a highly sought after coin! Gorgeous new sunset color enamels and a bright blue butterfly, all set in antique copper! I personally like this version even better than the original and want to thank cacheaddict for helping me make it a reality! In stock for immediate shipment at Sunset Geocoins Right now only 50 have been made in this finish with an additional 25 gold and 25 silver produced as a cacheaddict.com exclusive (Mike will post about those when they're available). Icon will be the same as the original Butterfly Kisses geocoin. Mods, if this thread needs to be merged with the original BK thread that's fine but please change the title so it's the same as this one. I wasn't sure how to handle it since Mike opened the original thread.
  4. Very very urgently looking for Butterfly 2010 Geocoin Fall brown - copper with orange, purple and grey
  5. Hi All! while caching a while ago we came across a TB dog tag attached to a blue butterfly biner clip. Tied searching back the logs of the folks who dropped it off in teh cache we found it in - noone mentions dropping it off. When we try to log it - it says - "not activated yet" isntead of "does not exist in the system" Already recieved (on July,2 2010) an email from Eartha with basic troubleshooting (make sure the numbers/letters are right, etc) and now following her advice and posting this here in the forum hoping maybe someone will recognize it and will be able to activate it. If noone comes forward - we plan to get a new activation code. Thanks all. Here is what it looks like.
  6. I have a Butterfly Cachekinz that I'm trying to activate and can't find out how. On the coincodes site, the cachekinz link is non-existent. Anyone know where I can get an activation code? Thanks!
  7. After many months of off again, on again artistic block getting this design just how i want it I am now stuck on color combinations. I would love to hear your ideas. I will be using all translucent hard enamels and most likely minting this coin in polished gold. Any ideas? This coin means a lot to me I feel it relects my fun quirky side. I absolutely love butterflies, but i wanted to put a different spin on the normal butterfly look. I call this my fantasy butterfly. Thank you for any inspiration you can provide. Edit to add: These will be trackable on geocaching.com.
  8. Omgosh! I got the MOST WONDERFUL mission from tjheath52. I was totally amazed at all the wonderful treats, especially all the dachshund gifts! (And, of course, the beautiful 12022021 butterfly coin). Teri, you totally made my day. Thank you so, so much! You are awesome! Have a wonderful new year!
  9. I initially checked the damaged goods, no identifying cache number or anything else was found. However, it was found in Lapham Peak, north of the Butterfly Garden...approx. lat/long = ,43.03580493811299, -88.39093940962138. There are a few possibilities in the area, but didn't find the cache it belongs to. Or at least most are too small, others just not right. Possibilities: GC54CE4 - Trail Travel Bug Hut GC12NK5 - The Grid This may just have to remain a mystery!
  10. This cointest is open to everyone. The winner will be the first person to guess the correct answer and they can pick which version of my Fantasy butterfly they would like. One post per person/per hour. I will give clues to the answer as time passes if there are no correct answers, but for fun to start off your only clue is: Clue #1 - There is a hidden, personal message in the design, what is it? I am including a picture to help those of you who do not have a coin in hand to look at. fixed picture problem
  11. There's nothing happier than sitting and watching a butterfly lightly flit from flower to flower. These lovely little creatures have such a short time to enjoy our wonderful world but they never seem to be in a hurry. Watching them teaches us to take things in stride. Don't panic over the little things and trust that everything happens for a reason. Make the most of the time you have, it may not be enough time but it can be the best time. The design for this coin was inspired by a child's coloring page. Butterflies have long been one of my favorite creatures because they are so cheerful. The text around the edge is a quote by Rabindranath Tagore, a Nobel Prize winner for literature in 1913. To me, the quote says everything. Life is too short to worry about what's going to happen next, enjoy the time you have. Size: 45mm or 1.75" Editions: Gold, Silver, Antique Silver, LE- Two-tone (black nickel and nickel) Designed By: Ronni Marcum Trackable: www.geocaching.com Special Features: Suncatcher Icon: *When sales reach 250 * Shipping & Handling to US & Canada - $2.99 for the first two coins, $.25 each additional ($1.50/order more for international orders) Reservations
  12. I was going after a cache in a "greenbelt" area (don't know if that parlance is common - it is 'round these parts) that abuts to a modern-day monstrosity of concrete known as a strip mall complete with one or more big box stores. Around the back of said place, along the alleyway, there was, in addition to the requisite concrete lined ditches and culverts to handle all the water that is now diverted when it rains, the wall of "green" of untamed nature to face the silent, windowless wall of cinderblock and modernity. And along that wall was a distinct trail. I was happy to find that because I knew that was the intended trailhead the cache owner expected me to use. I even saw a lone butterfly flitting around near the trailhead which often moves me. This is a little-used trail that is an offshoot of a much more frequented trail that I would probably avoid altogether if I had to enter it via the "popular" way. Just WAY too many people vying for parking spaces and so artificial feeling it spoils the venture before I even set out. I do encounter a little evidence of nefarious human activity like shopping carts and even one of those really heavy, flat carts you find in a big box hardware store. That is near the beginning but as I go on the trail is rather pleasant and unpolluted. It meets up with the main trail but I don't have to travel it far to get to GZ.... I know when I used a GPSr unit ages ago I could actually backtrack along the same path. I rarely used that feature, but it was there. And I haven't often needed such a feature with the way I cache when using my phone and the app. It would have come in handy this time, though. As I was heading back I was presented with options I don't recall the reverse-answer to. I have a general bearing. I have literally no fear at all of being "lost" because I know I can dump out of the woods to the reverse-frontier of the strip mall eventually (plus there is a highway which I am within earshot of - these things I make a note of along with the position of the sun for backup.) Anyway, to not make a story longer than it already is (and longer than I already set out) I choose the wrong path to get back to the trail but soon I see the back of the buildings and see where I can get back to my car with a little bushwhacking. I distinctly remember, as I'm walking in the shade provided by the buildings and along the alleyway to eventually lead back to my car (also tired, hot and a little hungry because I hadn't eaten all day) having a feeling "well, I'm "safe" now - back in civilization." Only half-serious of course, it isn't like I was in some uncharted territory. Just knew that I could get to my car, get a few good gulps of water and find some place to eat. No sooner did that thought cross my mind did I hear someone calling me from behind. "Excuse me! Sir!" Oh, hell, what is this? Before even turning around I surmised what it might be but I just didn't want to accept it. I HAD seen what looked like tents up ahead *just* before cutting out to the alleyway area. It had weighed in my decision to stop my progress in that direction and cut out but more it had to do with the knowledge I was already far west of the marked trailhead and I could see civilization through the brush. This person, this woman, is nearly 100 yards behind me. I think she and others must have had a delayed response to my unexpected brush with their encampment. She continues "What do you want? Do you want something?" Or something to that effect. What have I gotten myself in to? I only pause to turn around and give what I believe to be a universal gesture of "I don't want any part of whatever you are offering" and keep on walking. But she continues to advance. She is actually remarkably well-dressed. In a fairly nice DRESS of all things. But she doesn't seem to want to just take my obvious rebuff and continues with all sorts of questions why I would approach them and then leave.....why I would (in her perception) suddenly leave, etc... I begin to wonder if they (she makes reference to others but I see only her) were doing drugs or whatever and are paranoid I saw them and will report them or something. I explain that I was hiking and got out at the wrong spot, which is totally true. She still seems almost skeptical. There is a part of me thinking "what difference does it make to you - I told you what happened." She kinda switches her message to how I shouldn't feel I need to abandon the trail just because I saw them. How "they" (park services?) had cleaned up the trail and improved it. Then she is apologetic saying that "things happen in life" to explain why they are living like they are. I try to say some kind words but despite her closing the distance to about 100 feet I think it is wise to keep my distance. She turns back to go back to her world and I go back to mine, I guess. I have turned over the idea of getting a cooler full of stuff that might be useful to people living like that. My natural inertia is to not, though. Most probably won't even read much after seeing a wall of text (I set out making a much briefer account but I just got carried away.) Maybe no one will respond which is ok. Just kinda felt I need to get it off my chest.
  13. So today I accidentally became a Social Butterfly after finding a new cache nearby that was published over the weekend, on top of a bunch of geoart puzzles left over from the Easter mega I solved and found earlier in the month and a couple of other caches found here and there in my travels. I'm feeling a tad guilty now as, not only were there no events in that tally, I was caching all by my lonesome on each and every one of them. Some social butterfly, huh? Maybe I should've made an effort to find fewer caches this month to avoid getting that souvenir, but, um, I'm not sure if that's how these souvenirs are meant to work either. I guess I could atone my sin and become a true butterfly by attending an event before the end of the souvenir period, but the nearest one is on the 2nd of December and is about 50km each way by road through all the joys of Sydney weekend traffic.
  14. I am very excited by this coin design. After 6 months of very hard work trying to get things just right (no I am not a perfectionist) here it is: Morph Butterfly {with hinged wings} Metal - Colors: Black Nickel - Blue Enamel Black Nickel Set - with translucent/glitter/glow enamels Nickel Set - with translucent/glitter/glow enamels Black Nickel - Pink Glitter (LE only 100 will be minted) Gold - Mixed enamel (speacial trades only, XLE only 20 will minted) Place your reservation here: Morph Butterfly I hope you enjoy!
  15. We've been working with 3Sparks since March to create their dream coin... It's a trackable Morpho Butterfly with a Morpho butterfly icon!! Size: 45mm width, 3.5mm thick, 3D and 2D. This is not a stamped brass/copper coin, but it's still got a weighty feel - 'nuf said Qty: 400 coins minted on one edition. Paint: soft enamel on the 3D side and imitation hard enamel on the 2D side. Yup, those are blended colours on the 3D side! We will have a few of these for sale on Landsharkz.ca on or about July 19th or 20th and 3Sparks will also be selling some. Due to the frequency of our visits to the US, we're leaving our US shipping rate at the domestic rate all summer!
  16. I have designed a suncatcher coin and I'm curious if there would be any interest in it. Here is the initial design for a 1.75" coin. According to Oak Coins they will need to simplify some of the details on the artwork to allow the metal in the inner piece of the suncatcher to be the width that is needed but it would be kept as close to this as possible. I am hoping to have 250 coins produced, 100 satin gold, 100 satin silver, and 50 (LE) copper. They would be trackable and have their own icon. Reminting in different finishes may be done in the future but never again in these finishes. 5-10 of each finish will be retained by me for cointests/gifts/my collection. I would have to pre-sell most of these to pay for the production. I know people are a bit leary of pre-sells but I will provide my eBay ID (same as my forum name) so you can check my feedback and will also provide full contact info with several different phone #'s that I can be reached at. Cost would be $10.50 each for the satin gold & silver, $14.50 for the LE copper. Postage not included of course. Postage would be $2 for the first coin, $.50 for each additional up to a total of $5. International postage would be $4 for the first coin, $.75 for each additional. If you are interested please PM me or e-mail me through GS with your PayPal address and contact info. If there is enough interest I will get the ball really rolling and will send invoices.
  17. I always try and make all the caches I own about a theme because those are the ones I enjoy most, with quirky names/plays on words. Not to say normal caches aren't good but like when you're watching a film and you suddenly get why the film title makes sense... there is something cool about having the same with a GC. Doesn't have to be a series either. My last one was "Madame Butterfly", after the novel (cache attached to a butterfly". One before that was Wizard of Oz style "Somewhere under the rainbow". Next one to be published is a multicache Red Arrows themed one, because the Byways signs here use red arrows. It doesn't have to be a huge link, a tenuous link is absolutely fine
  18. A few times a year we have a benefit to raise money for Relay For Life. This is for a great cause to help fight cancer and help with awareness. I have been a huge supporter of this for many years and try to raise as much money as possible each year. I have lost two aunts from cancer and watch my grandmother win her battle with breast cancer. A few months ago I decided to offer up my CRYSTAL BALL GEOCOIN SET I had in my personal collection. It went GREAT! This time I am going through ebay to get better results. PLEASE SEE THE AUCTION HERE Remember this is for a great cause and hopefully someone can get this set to add to there collection. Thank you tw3nty3ight
  19. I announced this to the CRAKE mailing list a while ago, but haven't posted here yet. The Monarch geocoin, a design many months in the making, is finally ready to go. Well almost - there's a minor color tweak, and then I'll place the order. If all goes well, the coin along with a lapel pin will be available later in June with shipping late June/early July. The front is a Monarch (of course). Bonus points if anyone can guess whether its a male or female butterfly . The back is the lifecycle, including common migration paths and overwintering sites. Given Central Texas is smack in the middle of one of the paths we get to see these guys when caching, and with any luck we'll be able to get a few of these moving in caches so we'll get to see them year-round! Here's the sample: Details: 2" Black Nickel (only version available) GC Trackable Custom icon Stay tuned for ordering info!
  20. I'm wondering if anyone knows the cachers "jesta and butterfly." I'm trying to track down a missing TB, and they were the last to acknowledge it. They may be newbies, having some problems logging the TB. An e-mail to them received no response. (Their cache page says they live in 'South Portland,' but I don't know if it is Maine or Oregon, so this message is cross-posted in the New England forum.)
  21. I like to go to the browse map, filter for only mysteries, zoom out, and look for clumps. There are a lot of geo-arts in Florida (In my opinion). I'll get you started. Here is the first cache (Or a random one) of each geo-art. Just go to the map and look in the surrounding area for the rest. https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC6517Y_rs-1-you-cant-always-get-what-you-want https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC68GBT_1-anchors-away-uss-enterprise-cvn-65 https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC5F4N1_thurman-munson-new-york-yankees https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC5P2EW_bobby-doerr-red-sox-1 https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC7VYBT_house-of-mouse-1-mickey https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC70YFH_01-giraffe https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC7HTED_banded-peacock-butterfly-1 https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC7GDC3_largemouth-bass-geoart-series-01 https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC6FM4B_perdido-river-wmd-fl-sunshine-state-geoart-1 https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC6AZRA_apoxee-gator-run-1-alligator-facts https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC7234A_airplane-1 https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC7N5V0_beccas-cats-series-1 https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC4ZQJC_yellow-submarine-rubber-soul Have fun solving!
  22. Yes, to be a "true" social butterfly and get the souvenir just by attending events, one would have to attend five of them. That might be fine for those living in big cities where there are events every other day, but in other places that's a tall order. In my region (New South Wales Central Coast) there are no events coming up during the souvenir period; the only ones within 40km of home are two in northwestern Sydney and getting to them by road is about twice that distance. So while I was able to get the Junkie souvenir from just three high D/T caches, and got three 10+ FP caches on my way to the Connoisseur one, if I get the Butterfly it'll most likely be through non-event finds (7 10+ FP caches, 14 mundane caches or some other such combination). But I guess that'd be gaming the system too.
  23. If you're talking about "Amy's big day", you retrieved it and it's still in your possession. It's the only one listed still in your possession. If that's the one, you'd need to "Drop" it into the cache you "moved it to" for it to be listed to it. - That log itself will say "placed", which we find is confusing for folks new to trackables. It should really be "Dropped" like the action we took. Someone had to "grab" one from you (baltic cruiser) on 11/19, when you didn't Drop it in a cache at that time. - But you Retrieved and Dropped on properly two months earlier (butterfly). Maybe just a refresher on Trackable Basics is needed to get into the swing.
  24. In all of my travels, I have driven through several towns that have special art forms spread through out the town. All are identical, but each is decorated differently. I've seen: Mercedes, TX. has Boots. Mission, TX. has Butterflies. Hutto, TX. has Hippos (most are 2' high, but two are full size.) Clinton. IA. has Lighthouses (4' high) Papillion, NE. has Butterfly benches A town in IN. has 3' high Horses. A town in IL. has Lincoln top hats. (3' high) I've also seen Porpoises in a small sea side town. Is there a single Category for all these Special Town Arts?
  25. If the money went to research, it would be worth considering, and I have only those TBs which I have been given. I have never bought one, but I might reconsider if the money went to Covid research (or other science research), and I knew the percentage going to charity. All the trackables don't need to be the actual virus(although some could be). They could be other things, such as as rainbow stretching to the future, sunrise - hope, a new time emerges, a butterfly hatching; all sort of representative things of hope and renewal.
