  7. The June 2003 issue of Trailer Life has what appears to be a fairly good article on GPSrs. I've only skimmed it so far, but it appears to be a fair treatment on the general topic and important considerations in selecting a GPSr. Software is discussed to some extent too. It features the Garmin Rino, Lowrance iFinder, and the Magellan Meridian Color. Renegade Knight, they've even borrowed your signature. The article, on page 77, is entitled "Wherever You Go, There You Are". "I've never been lost, but I was a might bewildered for three days once." - Daniel Boone

  10. There are far too few new rules posted. I think we need one regarding how many spaces should be left after a period in posts. Anyone not leaving two spaces after a period should have his/her most recent find deleted. There should be no appeal. Those "one spacers" need to conform. Period. 11. IMHO, quitting is seldom the best solution in many instances. If you don't agree with some action that has taken place, it is far more logical to continue to participate and try to make your best case and implement your change. If you quit because you don't agree with some new rule or someone else's opinion, then in actuality, who is controlling your life? Certainly not you, rather it's the person who caused you to quit. In regard to things that transpire here online in our happy (sometimes not so happy) geo-community, log off for a few days or weeks if you need to. Friends & family are what count; the rest is just distraction. None of this will matter in 20 years "I've never been lost, but I was a might bewildered for three days once." - Daniel Boone
  12. Nice pics Team 360. Those critters are starting to move around down here. I've seen one this year, but unfortunately I did not have a camera then. We've been seeing a lot of gopher snakes on the roads down here. We live out a ways and accept them from the fire department for release on our property. They help control the pack rat population. Brain - Team A.I. - I was up in your neck of the woods and had a cache of yours on my list. I ran into an old friend and had to forego my caching plans. I'll try next time I'm up in the Phoenix area. 13. How about "Hide-n-Seek" with the neighborhood kids - phone pole is home, shooting stars - did you see it?, campfires and ghost stories - the hook on the car door..., playing in the creek, making dams, bluegills - a bass if you were lucky, battling the kids "from the other side of the creek" in crabapple fights, snow forts and battles, model rockets -Estes ruled, stingray bikes with banana seats and sissy bars, first kiss -at my uncle's farm, she had braces, AM radio late at night. Man, I remember those days. It makes me wonder what my two boys will remember 30 years from now. Hopefully, hiking the hills with dad in search of the elusive geocache will be in their somewhere. 14. Also, be sure that when you input the geocache coordinates, your GPSr is set to WGS84. "I've never been lost, but I was a might bewildered for three days once." - Daniel Boone

  16. Congratulations on the new addition, Leatherman. That pooch has some personality! "I've never been lost, but I was a might bewildered for three days once." - Daniel Boone
  17. I've got a "free" Legend I'll sell you. Just $200 for shipping. Look out for those shipping charges, sometimes that's where the real cost is hidden. "I've never been lost, but I was a might bewildered for three days once." - Daniel Boone
  18. Sounds to me like those bobbies were doing their job and doing it well given what's going on in the world. I got stopped recently outside a federal office building in Tucson because I was monitored on camera and looked suspicious. All said and done, I was glad someone was being that alert. 19. I agree with Mr. Snazz. Those ammo boxes wreak, and when I open them, the rusty hinges squeek and hurt my ears. What's up with that? Rude. Like a lot of other geocachers around here, I like to put live rodents in caches for the kids - it's a family sport right? Nothing harmful mind you, just hampsters and gerbils. I buy the sick ones cheap down at Petsmart and breed 'em. When I put the gerbils in an ammo box, I can't see the little critters running around like I can with tupperware. That bugs me. Sure, you can shake a gerbil much better in an ammo can, but heck, after a shake or two it gets old anyhow - unless there's a pocket knife in there too. Nothin' beats that on a Saturday night, no siree! A box of gerbils, some pocket knives, fresh batteries in the Lowrance and I'm good to go. Uh huh! I've been thinking a lot about this next one. Even if we started to call ammo boxes Homeland Defense Boxes, that wouldn't help. Most people would just see right through that. As good as Tupperware is, I think old cottage cheese containers are even better. I figure every household probably eats, what, maybe 9 or 10 containers of cottage cheese a week (small curd, not large). If we all started using those old containers for our caches, we'd make our landfills last a lot longer. I mean a lot!I'm doing some cipherin', so I'll probably have more on that later. Anyhow, that's what I think. I've got to go out back and feed the gerbils. This new batch gets cranky around this time. 20. Hey Spinner gurus, I am not a spinner user yet, but am thinking about downloading it. Does Spinner work with loc files or only with gpx files? Is there a conversion application available between loc and gpx files? Any other good apps available for working with loc files? Thanks in advance for the info. 21. Thanks OICU812 (Oh I See You Ate One Two - good one!) for sharing the site. I'll check it out. The kids might get a kick out of this one, and I know I will. "I've never been lost, but I was a might bewildered for three days once." - Daniel Boone
  22. I think some geocachers find the cache and observe that their GPSr says the coordinates are really "over there". So they rehide the cache "over there" to help out the next guy. Some folks just don't get the fact that the coords in all practicality are ballpark and the cache needs to remain in its original spot. I've never been lost, but I was a might bewildered for three days once.Daniel Boone
  23. Go to your "My cache page" and then select "Change your account information". Scroll down to the info section and make the changes. Don't forget to enter your password near the top to make the change. Wet mop, aisle seven ...
  24. 10. Do you carry a gun and a bag of pocket knives? Wet mop, aisle seven ...
  25. Happy Easter to you all. It's 2:24 PM here in sunny AZ and I'm smelling some fine ham baking and some pumpkin pie on the table. Picked up a couple of caches yesterday, and as John Steinbeck said, the world is moving in well greased grooves (a poor paraphrasing, I know). Oh yeah, God Bless America! Wet mop, aisle seven ...
