  1. here is the message received

Sorry, we could not find a member using those log in details.

I have validated the account...so and I can login to my account, I just can't login to the message board, so it must be that you have to wait 24 hours to login to the board as it states

  2. last night I created a new ID and password, I keep trying to login this morning and it says that the user name or password cannot be found...do I have to wait the 24 hours to login ? I though it was 24 hours just to post? I should go premium I guess?

  3. Being new to this please forgive my ignorance (please  )

If I create a region in topo and a region in mapsend direct and I load the Topo region as active, is there a way to display the topo maps and also will the roads and streets poi etc, be overlaid with the Topo map?

The reason I ask is because I do not have topo and I am looking to buy it, so when I am driving if I have topo loaded will it still show streets and directions etc??

    Thanks for any help

  4. Check the GPS serial number you are using. Use the internal one (press menu, select about). The serial number in the battery compartment is different. Also check communication cord connection. The cord should be coming out the connector and running down over the battery compartment.

You were right...I asked to speak to a supervisor and it was the same guy that helped me in the beggining...he said rick we have a fix for you and pointed me righ to the serial number.

The serial number on the back of the Unit that you register with is not the same as the one from the help display options..

Ok, so I have to repent and say that I now love the unit and I need to be more patient with customer service..

He (support) helped me with a few other things to ....:D:lol:

  5. I cannot get a region loaded on my 500, when I click on the upload to GPS, it tells me I have selected the wrong GPS type to upload (I have Explorist selected)

I have talked to support three times, they todl me to reload Mapsend Direct 3.0

I did, still can't get the region on the gps, the software won't communicate with the gps.

    Anyone else ever see this??

    Ahhhh they kill me

The honey moon was nice :D

  6. Ok, so I know playing with this thing and I created a route, converted it to way points, when I save the route it saves it as a .upt and a .rte file, now when I use the conversion manager to put it on the explorist 500 that application is looking for .wpt or .trk file format....did I miss something here??

Same for the region, I created a region in Mapsend, now in the transfer/convert utility it is looking for different file extension names :D

  7. You can turn the unit on and change the screen until you see the battery meter at the bottom...it'll say charging or something to that effect...if it's plugged into the computer, you'll have to change the connection to power only to veiw the screens!!

It'll charge while on, so no problem with turning it on!!

I also have the car adapter, I use the adapter while driving, it also charges while on...pretty cool, no battery loss while enroute to the next cache!! The only drawback to all this is that you MUST use the computer cable even in the car...(charger hooks into the little jack on the cord)...I take mine right from the computer to the car, but you could buy a different cable for the car as well!!

Thanks Roddy, I was wondering if I could turn it on while it is charging so this is good to know.

My main question was with the unit off is there an indication it is charging...you know a little LED somewhere like all my cameras have..

So far the only thing I have done with this is play with the pretty color screens :D

  8. I have been off the air for a few years and want to start getting back into it, with Motorola around the corner (I used to work there) there are a lot of Hams in the area and repeaters.

So I am looking at the Yaesu FT-60R as a dual band, when I was active I only used Yaesu (Mobile) and like it but are there any other options or items that you guys would recommend for an HT dual band with more then 2 watts output??

    Thanks
