  1. THANK YOU for finally coming clean on this issue. All this drama could have been avoided from the very start. I think the community would have gotten fully on board and embraced the cause to help this organization if you had simply revealed your connection to the organization when you were asked point blank about it. Despite all the negativity that YOU brought upon this organization, the coin, and yourself, the community may still get on board. I give you credit to finally come forward with ALL the facts which was probably pretty hard to do given all the webs weaved but be that as it may. I don't think anyone is 'badmouthing" the organization and if anyone has punished the kids (and the organization) it was you and your deceptive actons. That being said; I am satisfied that you have seen the errors you made in this situation and accept your apology. No doubt your coin will do well, it is a very well done design. Kudos to your originality.
  2. I also believe he is closer to this coin than he is telling us. Closing that other thread just adds to my skepticism and suspicions that somehting is seriously wrong here that he is trying to hide. Makes me wonder, was this guy bidding against his own item (shill bid) to drive up the price? I won't be surprised to see this thread closed too.
  3. Let me guess, I bet there is no online version of this newspaper to verify the above donation. Forgive my skepticism but something seems amiss here.
  4. WOW! I see that Easter Rabbit has been busy busy busy hopping here, hopping there, hopping everywhere, dropping eggs, putting smiles on faces, and spreading the joy. Congratz to all the finders!
  5. I am not even sure what the components of the design are. Its pretty small to see what is all in the image. Can you get a bigger image uploaded?
  6. I was having the same thoughts . . . Pink Floyd jumps out big time as seen by the many references. That being said, I like the design and think black nickel and silver would be nice IMHO.
  7. Ok sorry if this is common knowledge, I have never been through this process before. Is production artwork done with both metals in mind so we get a better idea of what it will look like in both metals? Will we be able to view the production artwork and change the quanties of specific metals at that time if we desire? Not the overall order but the metals used. Some of this is confusing to me is all. Thanks Peace
  8. I got home from a day spent outdoors, (no not geocaching unfortunately) not in the rain directly but damp in the elements non-the-less. It was enough to chill me to the bone and give me that weariness you get from being outdoors for the day in the fresh air if you know what I mean. I changed to warmer, more comfortable clothes, and just got settled in to read emails when holy smoke I see a log notification that the GSA had visited. I couldn’t believe my eyes so back out I go, into the cold, and the rain, and race over to get to the cache before anyone else. I wasn’t chilled anymore and now had that warm fuzzy feeling of anticipation. The possibility that maybe, just maybe, I might find the illusive GSA coin when I arrived. BUT NO, things are never THAT easy, it was then that I saw the cop. OH %#@&, I knew I was speeding in my hurry to get to the cache before anyone else. What I didn’t know was if he spied me on his radar before I could get on the binders. There went my warm fuzzy feeling out the window and quickly replaced with uncertainty and high anxiety. As I passed by, the cop pulled out and got behind me sending me into a full lather of emotions. My mind was screaming – NO, NOT NOW! I GOT SOMEPLACE I NEED TO BE! ! ! I could do nothing but wait for him to hit them lights on in what always seems like a bomb going off in the rearview mirror. I am confident you know the feeling. Needless to say I was sweating projectile bullets and the psychic pain was almost unbearable. For the next 1 ½ - 2 miles I watched him in the mirror and wondered why he wasn’t stopping me? I need to get to that cache! Was he running a plate check first? Was he calling for support? Should I turn? Should I keep going straight? Maybe just pull over or pull into a store parking lot? At this point I am happy that it was raining hard knowing it would keep the muggles at bay and keep all but the hardiest of geocachers indoors as well. It would buy me some time in the event that the cop pulled me over. Eventually he turned, MUCH to my relief, and I can assure you I fought temptation and did the speed limit the rest of the way. That warm fuzzy feeling began to slowly return again. By the time I parked the truck I was getting all goose pimply and jittery by the excitement to get to the cache ASAP. Flashlight in hand I headed toward the cache. It isn’t a long walk but I feared I might be too late. When I opened the cache, there it was . . . GSA #182 . . . whoa! I have to tell you I was smiling so big my cheeks hurt. Anyone wanting GSA #182 will have to pry it from my cold dead fingers. I neglected to bring a camera in my rush out of the house but it was raining pretty hard anyway so a photo would have been difficult anyway but did take a picture once I got home, dried off, and stopped shaking enough to hold the camera reasonable steady. Here is #182 all dried off in his new home proudly getting acquainted with my humble but growing geocoin collection. Whoever you are Geocoin Secret Agent . . . . I know the gods are smiling upon you with approval. You definitely made my day and it will be a day I won't soon, if ever, forget. Thank you! Peace jAY miLLS (GC111CG) Wonder if maybe the GSA liked the palindrome - reads the same forward and backward.
  9. Deafhunt - NO there is nothign wrong with you. I think you are just excited about geocachng and should be. It is a fun and rewarding sport and game. I also believe you are trying too hard to please others and are moving to fast. You are in the right topic here <Getting Started>. I would offer this advice: Slow down, and forget about coins for right now in my humble opinion. The coins will come as you gain knowledge and experience in the field. You have one coin right now to show and inspire others to maybe get involved which is kewl but you try to hard. Get out in the field and find some more geocaches it is good practice and gives you experience you can then share with others. Finding just 1 cache is not enough. That is the best way to get the experience and knowledge you obviously want so bad. Go to events to get to know others in your area who might be interested in going out with you to find caches or ask questions. This will build your credibility within the geocaching community that you are indeed serious about this sport. Maybe hide a cache or two for others in your area to locate. It is fun to read the logs of people that find your cache. Again this would build your credibility and demonstrate that you are serious about this. I am not trying to get down on you, I am just trying to keep it real with you. Please do not take offense to any of this as that is not my intent. Does your GPS unit confuse you? Is that why you only have 1 cache? If this is the case I am confident that there is someone on GC.com that is from your area that can help you out with that if that is the problem. Or take the issue to a local event and ask someone there to help you I know someone would be more than happy to help you out. But anyway to answer your question again no there is nothing wrong with you, you just need to get out and get some experience is all. Peace jAY miLLS
  10. I got a few of those: I gorilla glued a magnet to the side of it painted flat black (or any color you want) and bingo got a nice lil magnetic stash. I also camo'd a couple to hang in pine trees and such with a piece of wire (also camo'd) like a christmas ornament. Can make pretty evil hides in the right place depending on how much of a clue you want to give away.
  11. I better get busy then and have another kid! Nah, been there done that, just gettin busy is fine but having another kid is out.
  12. I have never heard of or seen a wooden nickel traveler that wasn't attached to a TB. Can you post a picture of a wooden nickel traveler for me to see. The travelers I have seen are either coins or travel bugs that have a tracking number on them. The wooden nickels I have seen are just sig items that people drop in caches but are considered swag as they don't have tracking numbers. Correct me if I am wrong.

    HOW ?

Deafhunt - Go out and find some geocaches (more than 1) and forget about coins for right now. Get some finds under your belt maybe even place a cache somehwere. This would give you more credibility in this forum. We have already been down this path with you in this thread.

    HOW ?

    Pick one and go look around...... www.coinsandpins.com www.coinsforanything.com www.personalgeocoins.com www.oakcoins.com www.thecachingplace.com www.geocoinstore.com www.chqualitycoins.com www.coinforce.com www.landsharkz.ca www.geocoins.nl/ www.geocoinshop.de www.hogwildstuff.org www.my-geocoin.com (Europe only) www.coinable.com
  15. Deafhunt: This is not really about coins which is the topic. Probably better off posting this in the Geocaching.com Web Site topic.
  16. Spoke to Groundspeak to understand the reasoning. Simply put they have had issues in the past where coins that say "trackable at geocaching.com" are not trackable. They would like to avoid situation like this in the future. Therefore, I will not be able to offer non-trackables. In place of the previous offer, I will have 3 "SAMPLES" made of each metal. They will be marked "SAMPLE" where the tracking number will be on the other coins. I will keep one as mentioned in post and website. The other 2 are your to do with but please do not place in CACHES. If you give to someone ask them to do the same. In order not to confuse the mint this will be done on each order for each metal with no charge to you as the end customer. I'll chalk this up to learning So if we ordered a few non trackables when we submitted the order do we need to re-submit the order?
  17. You clearly wanted a clean slate on your coin and I personally don't see a problem with that. Its your coin to do what you want. Don't be bullied or guilted into doing something you don't want to do. Just my 2 generic coins worth.
  18. Dumb question probrably but what is GWS?
  19. I remember when Jeff (Team 360) showed me the Original Stash Plaque replica before he went to GW4. Nice to see it found a nice home. Where is that Original Stash Plaque sold or was it like a one time thing for an event? Just curious. The thing looks liek it must weigh 10 lbs
  20. My artwork - Thanks Jen What would look better the nickel finish or the bronze???
  21. What is that coin to the far left, second shelf from bottom. That thing is huge!
  22. Show some more collections and how you display them. First, It is mind boggling seeing so many coins together in one spot. Second, It is an excellent way to show off all those great looking coins you have in your collection, or just showing off your favorites. Lastly, and speaking only for myself as a fledgling collecter, it is great seeing what life COULD be like down the road and to see the differant styles and tastes of others. Keep em coming . . .
