Many, many thanks to all, both on the forum and via email, for the congratulations.

Thanks for all the good wishes. Thank you too to all the Geocachers who have made this possible. Keep placing them and we will one day be able to double this tally! When we hit 4035 caches we could cheerfully say that we had found 4000 SA caches (the 35 being in neighbouring countries). It's been wonderful travelling to all corners of SA which includes having cached in all 52 municipalities. Our 4000th milestone was doing Blood, Sweat (and Sandy Bay) cache and we can say that most of the caches involved a lot of sweat and sometimes blood too!

Congratulations Fish Eagle on your 2000th. We were privileged in being able to share this special occasion with you.

Congratulations TV&M on a phenomenal past year of geocaching as well as attaining your 4000th cache recently. Amazing and well done! Pity we were not able to be there in the WC to see you reach this milestone!

Thanks for all the good wishes. We are home and the going will be slow for the next while. We set out on our holiday with the intention of just reaching the 3000 milestone, but thanks to all the wonderful caches out there it just spurred us on and on! Thank you SA Geocachers (and exPats) for all your placings. Keep up the excellent standard of cache placings (and keep them coming! []) We would like to congratulate all the other recent achievers out there. Well done! And, a very special mention must be made of the TVM's who had a bumper time (and in quick time!) achieved their milestone of 3500. Wow!

Thanks guys for all the congratulations both on this forum and via email. Without all your caches this would not have been possible. We are amazed at how many new caches there are since our last visit to this area in September last year and we have so many that we can still do! But, time doesn't allow and we need to press on to the next leg of our journey.

This all took place in Bloemfontein yesterday and are all caches of louwtjievdw placed after our visit to Bloem in November last year. We had a great day caching with perfect weather and mild temperatures. Our first cache Tempe L/H was found at 06h20 and we ended our day on (appropriately named) Rus n bietjie at 19h15 - 13 hours of caching. We also had two DNF's and as you all know a lot of time is spent looking for missing caches. This is our new record for a day's caching. These caches are placed in such a way that it is possible to achieve this figure - some are easy and some are a bit more challenging, with a good few koppies to climb!

We now have another Platinum Earthcacher. Congrats to iNoka who qualified by doing his 20th cache on our Sedimentary Intrusions GC2B8JB!

It certainly was a pleasure and we thoroughly enjoyed spending the day in your company seeing how the younger generation geocache! Enjoyed reading all your loggings.

Now that the "dust" has settled after the festive season, which picture took "photo of the month" for December?

Well done to iNokia on your 150 FTFs and that was achieved on our new Earthcache Cove Rock today!

We wish all our Geocaching friends (those we've met, corresponded with and yet to meet!) and your loved ones a very merry Christmas and a wonderful and prosperous new year. Please take time out to remember the true meaning of why we celebrate this special occasion. Enjoy it and take care and not least of all "happy caching"!

Any idea how many "Premium Members Only" there are in SA?

As far as I understand it, if the same cacher posts multiple pics, you only get the 2 points once no more thereafter. If different cachers post pics of the Racer e.g. with animals, then it means your Racer earns a total of 7 points - 2 points for posting a pic and 5 points for the animal. If you were to be the same cacher doing all the pics, you would only earn 2 points for the first pic and no more thereafter. The points for each animal (5 points) would still apply though. Surely rule 3, which states 1 photograph per cacher will count for points, means one photograph, whether it is a border crossing, animal or any other. Getting 5 points for a photograph for every animal means that all you have to do is take photos of animals. It would be very easy to find a few hundred animals. This raises the question what do animals have to do with geocaching? I have travelled hundreds of kilometers with a number of 2009 racers to F.T.Fs, Earthcaches and National Parks to earn points for them. This was a challenge which I found very rewarding, but, I could have earned far more points for them by taking a few more phtographs in a National Park (or for that matter in the local zoo!). B.t.w. I do not have any TBs or Geocoins in the race.
