  1. My halloween themed multi cache has a custom Halloween treasure chest painted for halloween with spiders and such on it. I think treasure chest caches are pretty cool to find just for something a little different. Nothing beats a good old ammo can though.
  2. I cache with a phone and have had no issues really. Works pretty good and the premium app has a pretty good user interface. I really enjoy hiding caches and seeing the logs roll in. I try to hide something that people will favorite and only use ammo cans for regular sized containers (which 3 or my six hides are, the others are a fake bird house cache, large small size at a local historical mansion, and a micro that I'm going to get around to spicing up soon), because I personally love finding an ammo can instead of a gross swampy glad ware container or a pill bottle canister.Hiding is very enjoyable to me. I don't know why but I just love seeing great logs on my caches. I really put a lot of work into them and I'm gad that other people get to enjoy them. I bike to every cache I find and love it. I almost exclusively cache with friends as it usually isn't as fun by yourself! Im a pretty casual cacher and find one every now and then when the opportunity presents itself and only go on caching rides on some weekends when I have tie to find multiple caches. I just started getting into puzzles and have a bunch solved for when I head out next time. Excited to go grab those. Ive only found one multi but would like to do more and very much enjoyed my only earth cache! Geocaching is a great game and when played right (by the guidelines) is very enjoyable for everyone.
  3. Oh act like an adult. What the heck does that post even accomplish? I mostly just lurk the forums but every time I see you post it is just useless, sarcastic, and unnecessary. The OP did nothing that required a response that sour. He posted it and asked what other people would do. I honestly wouldn't appreciate that log on one of my caches either and would delete it for the sake of the kids who find them with their parents. Someone who logs something like that on a public website clearly has something wrong with them. Thanks for your off topic personal attack. Hey I just read what I said again and feel like a total jerk. Sorry about that.

  5. Im also in your area and am one of the cachers that found one of these caches (in fact I was the FTF and the one of them was better than about 60-70% of the caches in our area. Pretty sad that a member for 30 min can hide a more creative cache than that many experienced cachers. It was hidden by a kid and he kind of copied some of my caches with the pulley system in the tree. He found some of my pulley caches before he hid his. It was also neat to see the tree memorial there. Regardless I believe that it would be a good Idea to make minimum finds a requirement due to all of the 3 finds, hide and dones. Nice to see a local cacher on the forums! Edit- I just looked at my map and for the first time saw the no description geocache. It is about a tenth of a mile from me and it the open space where two of my caches are hidden. Ill take a look on saturday or sunday and see whats up. The no description thing is honestly unacceptable in my book.
  6. Im also a teenager and started caching last April. My neighbor and his sister are really into it as well and my sister loves to come with too. My parents are fine with it and think its a fun way to spend a saturday afternoon if I don't have a Basketball/Football/Lacrosse game! They let us bike wherever we want, just be home by dark. We bike to every cache we find and have logged over 250 miles on our bikes each. We always bring some stuff for a picnic or something and have it at the little parks we find and play some basketball. I thinks its a fun pastime that I usually get out and do for an afternoon about once a month. I couldn't imagine caching without some friends as its all I've known! I hope you find some caching friends and it makes it more fun if they're your age! It really makes the game for me and I probably wouldn't cache without my neighbors and sister!
  7. While I still have only recently almost cleaned out the 2 mile radius from my house leave 5-10 caches I still have plenty to find being a casual cacher myself but in my area (South Denver suburban area) We have had 5 new placements in 4 months in about 20 miles of my house. I am almost a year into this and I really don't know what it used to be like in the early days but it seems slow. Most new placements are camp taped pill bottles in pines though so not very exciting. I place almost only regulars with 1 micro that makes sense in its location and is a nice official container, not a crappy film canister/ pill bottle. I have kind of gotten a reputation in my area as one of the best cache hiders in my area (I only use ammo cans and have made custom containers) As a younger geocacher in my caching career I will have to say new placement is little to none.
  8. Im 15 and started geocaching this april. Me and my neighbors started by accidentally finding a cache in the woods near our house and have fallen in love with it, we cache probably 1 weekend a month and when whenever I'm somewhere I always check if theres a cache nearby. We exclusively cache by bike and have knocked out 7/8 of the caches within a 3-5 mile radius of our house so were having to go further and further, LOL. I also really love DIYing my own caches and love seeing all of the emails from people telling me how much they loved the caches and I take pride in hiding only high quality containers. 3 of my six hides are ammo cans and the other three are DIY camo caches like a birdhouse cache in the woods, a Halloween themed cache at a local haunted historical building, and a camped micro. I love to increase the number of quality caches in my area because thats what we like to find and notice that most caches aren't very nice. Nice to know a couple other teenagers ache but I'm not alone in my situation as me, my sister, my neighbor, his sister, and one of his friends always go caching together! What makes caching fun for me is the experiences and fun with my sister and friends, we've made a lifetime of memories this summer and can't wait for more to come!
  9. I honestly use Army surplus metal ammo cans for most of my hides that don't require an uncommon container and they work awesome. Stay dry and I have to say finding an ammo can always is a little more fun than an old coffee can or old, soggy prescription pill bottle that got listed as a small.
  10. I think a sub forum under cache creation and ideas would be awesome. I do a lot of Diy work building my caches and would like to talk to other Cache DIYers about ideas and tips.
  11. You can go do the geo-art in western Colorado conning 1,250 caches and then you would have to find one more large geotrail or two to hit. I think doing the geoart would be a way more fun way to do it. Also if you complete it the colorado geocaching society gives you some sort of prize I think. Happy caching!
  12. Actually what got me into geocaching was a miracle find. Me and my friends were on a nike ride in late april on a trail right behind our house and I saw a tin box in the knot of a massive cotton wood. I went and opened it and it had the note explaining about geocaching and what it is and the web site so we went home, looked it up and figured out what cache it was and logged it and downloaded the free intro app and geocached a little that night! It stuck and it has become our go-to summer activity, and 107 finds later here we are!
  13. Ive actually seen them several times stuck right next to cache locations as well. They are kind of annoying but in my experience i would consider them less than harmful to geocaching. Especially since 99% of the ones I've seen have been placed right next to LPCs or guardrails.
