  1. Nice accomplishment! Congrats!
  2. I could roll in it and not get it (although I wouldn't recommend trying it) but all my husband and son have to do is look at it and they get it.
  3. Glenda, of the East. It's "Guh-linda"... Are you a good witch or a bad witch?
  4. LLBean has the Camelback 100 oz unbottle on sale for $24.95. It's the insulated one. Not a bad deal. Camelback 100oz unbottle at LLBEAN
  5. Same thing happened to me. I placed a geocoin in a cache a few months ago. After I place a coin of mine, I always look to see who's logged in the caches I've placed coins in because I want to track the coin. The next person logging after me said the coin was not there. He said that someone signed the log between my visit and his, but never logged a find or the coin on the web. I went back in to the tb page for my coin and logged it as missing so it removed it from the cache. It's a bummer but I think that's the risk we take. I'm thinking of just switching to the regular TB's because they're cheaper than most of the coins I've been getting and I won't be soooo bummed if it comes up missing.
  6. It doesn't work with Firefox. I know it works with IE... Well that explains it for me! Thanks
  7. I had the same problem tonight. I saw a new cache in my area and just wanted to upload this single cache to my gpsr. I have a Garmin as well and got the same error message. Tried downloading the updated garmin software with no luck. I just manually added the waypoint, but after playing around for 45 minutes it was too dark for my liking to go for this cache; will have to get up extra early to get it before work. I generally run a pq for the caches I want to go for and have no problem running it that way, however, I run it with GSAK so I can send the waypoints to both my GPS and my Palm.
  8. Today Peace Flag Geocoin Set (black & nickel)
  9. We've been using a WS Pungo 120 (him) and a Perception Acadia (me). After having rotator cuff surgery in June 2006, I wanted to trade up for something lighter. This past May I got a Current Designs Kestral 120. It's a composite kayak and weighs a little over 30 lbs. This is a great boat for a woman; it's light and I can put it on top of the Murano myself and talk about nice tracking. No more waiting to see who wants to go with me just so they can put the boats on the roof. I'm loving it. Current Designs has a nice line all around. http://www.cdkayak.com/products/template/p...c3034885b172b56
  10. I love that it adds another dimension to hiking. I generally hike between 15-20 miles per week, and now that I'm caching I've found new trails to hike instead of hiking the same old local trails.
  11. The dog. I keep her leashed when I'm hiking and caching and I was going through the cache box when I realized there was no dog head inside the collar. I backtracked the 4 miles towards the car and there she was sleeping under the rear bumper of the car. I think she's getting a bit bored with it lately. I pretty much figured I'd never see her again during those 4 miles. I also lost my house keys and a cell phone but that seems like the norm.
  12. Miko the Wonderdog is my faithful caching companion. She's 14 and is still a trooper when it comes to caching and hiking. I never hit the trails without her. Miko @ Breathe by Weathernowcast Miko @ The Ironman by BrianSnat
  13. No it is not. If it was their signature you can turn that off in your forum settings. This is manually entered into every post. Why do you even care?
  14. I just ran into a timber rattlesnake last Sunday - the dog and I were going out to do some caching. Walked down the street to the fire road entering Ringwood State Park and there was one by the gate. I walked back to the house and made my husband join me on this hike because I'm so totally skittish about snakes. Well, all in all, it was a good thing because I finally got him out caching with me. I'm not sure that he was completely sold on it yet, but that was because I estimated it as a 3 mile hike but it was really 7 and it took a bit longer than he wanted to be out. Oops!
  15. I have a long way to go - 245 w/in that 10 mile radius that I haven't found. But, I love for people to keep placing caches in the area so I never have to get in the car.
  16. Miko is completely indifferent to it. When we find the cache she wants to keep hiking and hates the fact that we stop.
  17. Not only moderators. Platinum members can also use them for a modest fee. That's funny you say that - I think a good percentage of my finds are his caches! I don't have many finds - maybe 40 or so at this point, but everytime I search from my home, there's several of Briansnat's caches on every page!
  18. Scarecrow and I had two bear encounters today on Wawayanda's Pump House Trail - actually I think it was the same bear twice. A REAL Silver Mine Also, Brian, we did see an empty BEER bottle in the vicinity.
  19. Maybe he's lazy like me. Thanks all. I think that the issue, in my mind, is that he didn't log that specific geocoin. He could hang onto for as long as he'd like to, but I don't want others to have to hike up that blasted mountain to specifically go for this coin (because it is very cool) and have it not be there. Brian, for some reason I think you are anything but lazy. The new caches placed by you around here coupled with the hikes surrounding them is definitely not something a lazy person would do.
  20. I use a Palm Z22 loaded with Cachemate and I use GSAK to synchronize everything. The Z22 has a hard plastic casing around the screen and it seems to protect it every time I drop it - which is at lease every time I hike and cache. It was just under $100. I'm not crazy about the screen because when I'm out on a bright sunny day I have to take off my shades to view the screen. But all in all it does the trick.
  21. Wow - that's awesome. You can never be too careful in that area. Our property backs up to the state park in Ringwood and we see the bears all the time in our yard. They're good to look at from a distance when you're inside of the house, but I agree with you that it's a bit unnerving when you are out in the woods and run into them. I was hiking with the dog in November and we were about 1 1/2 miles up into the park and two bears ran across the trail about 50 feet in front of us - one kept running but the other stopped and stared us down. Of course I just lost all sense of what I was even supposed to do, so we backed away slowly and then ran back down the trail to the house once we were out of the bear's sight. The dog didn't even want to bother with the bear. I'm sure you made someone's day by finding Blue! Nice going Geobernd!
  22. I understand that, but they didn't enter a log for the coin.
