  1. Well I reused some of the cartridge file. I changed some zones here and there, text here and there. I added different functionality. When I publish - it's updating the ORIGINAL cartridge and not creating a new cartridge on Wherigo's site! At this point I'm going through the cartridge code seeing if there is something here that would try the LUA code to a particular cartridge. I believe I found it too... EDIT: cartDoYouSeeWhatISee.Id="ef12768e-a915-4e61-8305-d3980a0a336d" in both cartridges are exactly the same! I'm going to try modify this line and see if it works!
  2. I believe that to be the correct answer. Create a smaller zone within a larger zone and place the character inside of the smaller zone.
  3. Are there any variables on reading the unit's time and elevation? If so - how would one read and then use the data?
  4. Has anyone been able to view the logs uploaded to Wherigo's website sent from players? I even tried uploading (it says it worked) from a different account using the log files (I'm curious to know what they look like to the cartridge owner) and nothing is appearing...
  5. Thanks, Ranger Fox, for your response. My motive here is simply trying to save some typing and clicking time due to my carpel tunnel issues as I am still paying dearly from the latest cartridge I built! Each of my cartridges (and the ideas behind them) have continued to improve in the originality and complexity categories. While I am not trying to re-create the likes of a LPC or Guardrail style of cartridges - I am trying to give the players on each side of the state something fun to do. The cartridge will be different enough for each side to have a great time as it is based entirely on their knowledge of their local community.
  6. I recently took an idea I had for the west side of the state and used it for the east side of the state during my last visit over there. I created a cartridge for it and it turned out pretty well I think. I would like to take that cartridge and re-use it (thus ((hopefully)) saving me a little work). I was thinking - change the zone names, media, and coordinates but leave the rest intact so as not to have to redo so much. Is this possible? Encourageable? Thoughts are welcomed!
  7. Deane - try this topic: Wherigo w/ PocketPC Emulator + Garmin 60CSX http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=187391 All the best, Khan
  8. Thanks for the link! I looked at the cache page and this is exactly what I was looking for. I have contacted the cache owner to ask a few questions!
  9. Just throwing an idea around . . . Anyone have an idea of how to build a play anywhere human maze playable in a large field? Possible? Not possible? Suggestions?
  10. Attached file a screenshot of the emulator, showing how the icons are used in the player. The Colorado devices, unfortunately, don't use the icon files. Is there a certain image size that is recommended for icons to be used?
  11. If you want you could require the player to enter a code into the cartridge before it will start up. That code could be available only on the published cache's page. It would probably be polite to warn people on the Wherigo page's listing that this is the case so they don't rush out, turn on the cartridge, and find they are stuck. Sneaky . . . but I like it. Don't know if I'd do it - but I do like it!
  12. Nobody does that do they? Deane AKA: DeRock & the Psychic Cacher - Grattan MI I doubt that ever happens but it's a woot if it ever does!
  13. You cannot delete cartridges right now, but it will be a feature soon! J2B2 Great! I have a duplicate of a cartridge that I would definately love to get rid of!
  14. What a great idea, DeRock! Knowing you I know it will be first class all the way.
  15. ... perhaps there is a market for said product, "Cartridge Notofier 2.34" to alert Wherigoers of new cartridges!
  16. Jeremy - did that update occur yet? I try to pay attention to new updates but may have missed this one.
  17. I went back and added the GC number to the description. Wasn't my first choice, however. Sure would be nice if they would add a field for the GC on Wherigo.com.
  18. I too would certainly love the chace to add release notes for me and my players benefit outlining the differences between the versions.
  19. Before that last update, it took Garmin close to two months to release something. Frankly, I'm surprised I saw an update so soon. It certainly wan't a long time between 2.54 and 2.60. I'm pretty suprised myself! However, 2.60 is the first update in some time that has not been beta.

    Excellent info! Thanks for sharing.
  22. My last two have used images with the final coordinates. That makes it very difficult to extract the coordinates using a text editor. Also, each of my zones now have a question that makes arm chair caching much more difficult without a lot of visits to each zone in the field to find the data, or having a friend with the running the emulator over the phone and someone out in the field. If that becomes a problem I could always invest more time in trying to get the elevation (I have tried - just can't figure out how and where to place the code to get it to work) read from the GPS and not proceed until its a certain height above sea level.
