  1. When clicking the events I OWN I see a listing of the events I have ATTENDED.
  2. Does someone get to claim a FTF everytime it gets published?
  3. As they say in Starsky & Hutch - "DO IT". . . congrats!
  4. Yes, I was very surprised about it too since I wasn't aware of it happening.
  5. Anytime I make multiple changes (especially ones I don't want to have to do twice) - I save the cartridge. Jump to Windows Explorer and copy and paste the code. Windows will automatically rename the new file with the same name - different "copy" number. Some of my cartridges have had 20+ copies . . and a few times - I have used them too.
  6. No, that is a very recent change. Old caches to my knowledge are grandfathered in - however - that is not the case with new caches published after the new rules went into effect.
  7. I live in a urban concrete jungle... yes there are park here and there. However, most have been filled with caches for some time. I personally like to see an area re-populated with new caches so I have something to do close by. So, that is what I do - archive mine and put something new in its place or nearby and give others a chance to find it. However, not many others do that... Just my $.02....
  8. I use PM caches on my hard puzzles and all of my Wherigo caches. I always say, "membership has its benefits". If you want to do one of those caches pay the $30. Plus, I really like to know who and how often they have looked at the cache page. A year ago I got the nastiest found log that I have ever received.... everything about the cache was terrible and even an accucation or two. I looked at the audit log (first time in over a year now) earlier today before reading this thread and saw that they have been looking at it quite a number of times.... Makes you wonder though. PM caches are not wrong. It can be hard not to let it bother you - but let it go.
  9. I'll have to do some more playing with it OR I didn't do it correctly... Pun intended.
  10. Just ran into this a week ago - how long is the file name? Mine was too big - changed it to a single word (ie. cartridge.gwc) and Voila. Only a few wasted hours....
  11. Has anyone got the OR statment to work?
  12. Well, I can't answer your question in it's entirety, but perhaps the "who" part can be partially answered by a quick search on GS. Beside Geoaware there are: geoawareASIA, geoawareAUS, geoawareCA, geoawareEU, geoawareHQ (the boss?), Geoawareness, geoawareUSA, geoawareUSA1 and geoawareUSA2. Mostly new accounts, new reviewers, I'm not sure? Very interesting... I too am interested in hearing 'who' is on the review team. I think that this is the whole point of the thread. Knowing *who* clicks Publish doesn't really matter. I just am interested in knowing what is going on in the background.
  13. I can think of at least a case where 48 hours is not enough time. Sometimes when I am on a long trip I have lots of caches to log. Earthcaches take more effort to log since you have to post a picture and email the owner (almost always). It can be a pain to get your pictures off the camera at night when time is short and the next day of your trip comes quickly. In the few cases where this has happened to me, I logged a Note to the cache that I could change to a Found log later when I can post the picture and email the answers. That way the order of the finds could be preserved, and you could have more time to log the find correctly. I totally agree with you. Just don't log the cache then. Wait til you have everything you need to be able to log it properally. I have no problems with a note posted to the cache page but don't "Find it" until you are ready to complete it. I have two earth caches that I haven't logged because of that very reason. I don't have my photo ready off of my camera. I believe in "practicing what I preach".
  14. Bravo!! Especially on the vacation rules - I love looking for new sites as my family my travel. Finding an EC site is a bonus and being able to share it is an even better reward.
  15. Let me tell you what I do. 1- If I get correct standard replies to my questions the log is 100% valid. 2- If I get some answers that are correct and some that are wrong, I correct the wrong answers and allow the log. 3- If I don't get the answers and still no reply to my e-mails, the log disappears into thin air. I think your's is perhaps the latter situation. You decide what to do. On each of my earth caches I have several things written: "Each Cacher that logs a find is required to submit answers to the questions above (failure to comply will result in a deletion of your log). The only exception are young kids that are cache with their parents (who have their own account, but not computer privileges). Per Earthcache guidelines, each cacher is to learn from their visit/experience. That means each cacher must perform the necessary task(s) or requirements to log the cache and earn your smiley." and "You must complete these requirements within 48 hours of logging the cache." That should be adequate more than enough time to complete the requirements once the cache has been logged. Personally I would like to drop it even more than that... but I do know and understand that life happens. As previously mentioned and quoted here in my reply - I do pretty much the same thing: 1- If I get correct standard replies to my questions the log is 100% valid then I thank them for taking them time and letting them know their answer was correct. I may even comment on their photo especially the cool spots, the crazy shots, etc. 2- If I get some answers that are correct and some that are wrong, I correct the wrong answers and allow the log. Me too. 3- If I don't get the answers and still no reply to my e-mails, the log disappears into thin air. Yup, EXACTLY how I do it too. Once in a while I understand answers get lost (I've done it), photos get lost of deleted (it happens to me). What I do then is just tell me what you remember. I had a guy write a whole page which I appreciated and thought was a tad overkill (for me) but to each their own. For photos - then I tell them to paste their favorite geo photo. Show me with them in a cool spot. Those that take the time I always will work with unless they are a jerk. Just my two cents...
  16. Agreed. I have spent now months on several locations securing permission. Now that I have it and have to do the write ups between work, family, and severe hand pain from carpel tunnel (and still working a few other places) I hate to see all of that effort go down the drain. I hope the powers that be will see this and possibly reconsider at least the vacation rule.
  17. Yup, saw the problem two weeks ago and wanted to investigate further. Now, I at least know it wasn't me!
  18. Any ideas when that will occur?
  19. I've been contacted by a player or two as well in the past week giving my the same error listed here when they are trying to download the cartridge for their Nuvi device. I don't recall their name.
  20. Anyone know if the new firmware fixed the problems?
  21. I saw that a year ago - it was a setting on my GPS. Don't recall what and/or where - but it was in there somewhere. Once we got that figured out you could at least see the tiny red arrow in the Wherigo player.
  22. Sounds like it works for me - the most I've had active at anyone time is 15 and it wasn't all that bad.
  23. I use the image method too. It works well for me.
