You have probably already tried this, but: 1. Try different cables to be sure it is not a problem with the USB cable. 2. Check to be sure the computer is recognizing the eTrex (Right click on my computer: properties >> hardware >> device manager. When connected, you should see the Etrex in the list. If not, the cable is bad or the drivers have not been loaded.

If you go to mygarmin you can see if you got yours registered. Mine registered just fine, but I just do not get the updates. I did notice that the revision date on their webpage where you sign up for the updates was changed recently, so that may indicate they are aware of the issue. In the meantime, I have just bookmarked the webpage for the updates and will check it once a month or so. With regards to customer service, I have been very pleased. I get in fairly fast and the reps are helpful and courteous. Software updates have been reliable and worked every time I have applied them.

I have tried signing up to get the automatic email whenever Garmin updates the firmware for my GPS or the software for my Mapsource software. However, I have yet to receive any of the emails. For example, there was an update on Mar 26 and I did not receive any notification. I must be doing something wrong. Is anyone experiencing any similar problems?

Agree with that suggestion. I have used our 60CSX to navigate in San Antonio, TX and it is great. The amount of time you save by not having to look at a map or getting lost is just incredible.

I have a Garmin 60CSX. Absolutely love it for geocaching, hiking, and city navigating.

I second that recommendation. I have a 60CSX and it is great for geocaching and city navigating. It does great in heavy tree cover as well.
