  1. Odd looking sort of 'Z' shape to the trunk of this Beech tree: GC17V22
  2. Walking twenty yards through the knee-deep water of a gator hole to a cluster of trees in the middle that held the cache. All after hearing the gator slide off the bank and splash into the water. Not sure what I was thinking at the time.
  3. Well He is 1 Less Virtual Find Now.. We'd have deleted it for sure.
  4. Then's there's the folks who 'find' virtuals all over the world without leaving their house: (1/1) 1 Nov 01 Ndebele 1 by RadManZulu (GC26A9) Mazowieckie, Poland 19 Mar 08 (1/1) 16 Feb 02 Atlas by Saros and Luna (GC3A87) California 19 Mar 08 (1/1) 19 Jul 01 Elijah Cornell Chase House by Todd & Tracy (GC117B) Kansas 19 Mar 08 (1/1) 19 Jul 01 Washington and Nancy Cross by Todd & Tracy (GC117C) Kansas 19 Mar 08 (1/1) 29 Mar 02 Kanab History Cache #1 by David (GC46A3) Utah 19 Mar 08 (1/1) 9 Aug 02 Billy Bowlegs by Firemedicwhite Adopted By Lehigh Mafia (GC7C9F) Florida 19 Mar 08 (1/1) 23 Mar 03 Centinial by jhmw (GCEABB) Oklahoma 19 Mar 08 (1/1) 26 Oct 02 911 Memorial by pkpaul (GCA072) Virginia 18 Mar 08 (1/1) 19 Mar 03 Sammie by Kimmies (GCE84E) Texas 18 Mar 08 Seven states and Poland in only two days. This guy gets around! This is only a small example, there were dozens more across the country for that month alone. The sad thing is, he thinks he's impressing somebody.
  5. This fellow posted two finds on one of our caches on the same day. Probably a mistake, right? Fat fingers, trigger-happy index finger on the mouse? Time goes by and I come across this: October 17 by shameless (71 found) Found at 4:05 PM Took a while as the 2 GPS's couldn't agree within 2 to 25 ft. Put them down and used the eyeball method. Walked right to it ! TNLN TFTC SHAMELESS October 17 by shameless (71 found) Found at 4:05 PM Took a while as the 2 GPS's couldn't agree within 2 to 25 ft. Put them down and used the eyeball method. 6. Here's another good one. Cache is MIA, throwdownder comes along and does a 'good deed' and replaces the cache, logging a 'note'. Then comes back three weeks later and logs the find: (NOTE) May 23 by THROWDOWNER (650 found) I replace the cache. You replace cache? Me Tarzan, you Jane... June 16 by THROWDOWNER (650 found) TFTC ! You mean to say TMFC! (Thank ME For Cache!)
  7. I posted about this guy before, logging finds for every time he visited his own caches for maintenance or a trackable drop. Well, he's still at it: February 18 by CacheOwner (1113 found) Logging this one as a find for my nephew to remember which ones he's found and can go back and log them for himself. CacheOwner For your nephew? Sure you are.... May 31 by CacheOwner (1113 found) Finding this one for my nephew to count. CacheOwner Another nephew? You're an awesome uncle! I have a feeling the finds are as ficticious as the nephew(s). It's a shame because this person is a servicemember, and among the values he's supposed to adhere to are Integrity and Honor.
  8. They have a 'pal' who saves TB codes and passes them along. Cheaters, both of them.
  9. It was the same for us. I was hiking in Maine with a couple friends, one of whom kept talking about this 'Geocaching' thing. Well, the next day we were descending along a trail when I spotted this large tupperware box a few feet off the trail. At first, I thought it was some kind of first aid kit, but the writing on the cover told me different. I yelled back to my buddy and said "Hey Dude, I think I found one of those geocache things"! Turns out it was quite a distance from where it should have been. I guess somebody grabbed it, but got sick of carrying the thing down the mountain and just left it.
  10. I'm with you on this. It's just like logging a find when you didn't find it, or worse when you can't find it and do a 'throwdown' and claim a find. Or how about logging multiple finds on the same hide? That's lame too. We came across a cache owner once who was logging multiple finds on his own caches. Really lame.
  11. Veterans Day or Armistice day depending on where in the world you live. Tell a soldier thanks. Armistice Day or Veterans Day, call it what you like. We're in for that either way.
  12. "We didn't find the cache, but signed the log on the ammo can I was carrying. Then we decided not to leave the can. We decided this spot was too intrusive to the birds for a cache and it was removed." Holy Cow! A throw-downer cheating on a throw-down! What's next?
  13. Here's what we wanted to post before the distraction: July 24 by bugsscareme (27 found) Nice hide. Didn't sign the log because of the mosquitoes....couldn't spare the blood. TFTC You need to sign the log in blood? Now that's quite the ALR!
  14. It's not easy being verbose.
  15. Don't quit! Think of all the 35mm film canisters out there relying on you! What future would they have?
  16. Responsible cache owner archives virtual: April 30 by cacheowner (79 found) Archived, as construction has gotten to the point that area is inaccessible and the plaque that was the cache is removed. But this person wasn't going to let a little thing like the cache being missing stop them: May 17 by wellIreadaboutit (217 found) Pulled a paper copy of this cache when I was supposed to come here in early April on business, but my son was injured. I have been here many times before I knew about Geocaching and wanted to log that I came back. I did not know the extent of the construction but was suprised at how far along it has come in a relative short time for xxx. Looking foward to the memorial. #12 for today / #6 for this place!
  17. No, it had both legs. Although the KFC idea was brought up more than once....
  18. While out doing a multi-stage paddle cache one of our group came across this on one of the islands we visited: At first we thought it was a chicken, but turns out it's a turkey. The strange thing is, it's a small, wooded island about a half acre or so about .3 miles from shore. There was no other 'poultry' on the island. It's a mystery how or why it got there.
  19. Staying off-topic: Brockton! That's close to home. I was going to suggest Attleborough. Brockton sure fits the bill though.... Reality sets back in
  20. Why not? I lived in Pawtucket for years. It wasn't Olneyville, though. I'm trying to remember what rundown ex-textiles town seemed to be entirely populated by unkempt men pushing shopping carts and talking to the sky. Nerves would remember, her being a neuro nurse and all. Woonsocket maybe? Ever go down to Wes' Rib House (..."on Dike Street...down in Olneyville....") Thank you, thank you very much Sorry. Getting off topic.
  21. Auntie, you went caching in Olneyville? Maybe you could send some of that British Sterling back this way so I can restock your cache? (edited for fat fingers)
  22. From the description of the cache in question: This truly is a really bright spot in beautiful, downtown St. Augustine. If you haven't been here before, now's the time to check it out. Why now? Well OBVIOUSLY because I just dropped a micro here! Any other questions? I apologize for the paperwork not being up to my usual high standards. I couldn't pass up this spot and all I had with me was the junky... oops! I mean generic paperwork I use to replace OTHER people's damaged logs with. I know it's a huge disappointment but you'll live so get over it. -Not up to their 'usual high standards' ? -'Junky' aka Generic paperwork ? -OTHER peoples damaged logs ? Maybe the log was made from a paper towel? Bounty, the quicker picker-upper! I think I'd have to pass on this one.
