  1. I was wondering...the smartphones have been great for use in geocaching, but what do folks do when they are caching in areas that don't get cell service. I have an old Palm Tungeston E2 that I have used with cachemate, but now I am having trouble getting the palm to bluetooth with my computer and obviously then I can not sync it. I have Windows 7, 64 bit. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

Put the .pdb file on a SD card and put the card in the palm. Cachemate will read the file from the card. you can copy the .pdb file to the sd card in the sd card slot on your windows machine.

You are a genious. Why didn't I think of that. Thank you.

  3. Friday, 04/11/08, submitted 5 queries today and am not receiving the email?? Anyone else have this problem? Haven't had this problem in the past. It's not even showing that they have been run, the day Friday has been checked and it shows 5 queries, but not running.

  4. I have a friend who is desperately trying to become a member of geocaching.com. She has filled everything out correctly, including her email address and is not getting the validation code sent to her. Any help on what she should do. We have emailed geocaching.com, but have not heard back. Thanks

  5. I am from VA and will be visiting a little town called Washington, Missouri about 1 hour's drive, I believe sw of St. Louis. I would love to attend the WWFM Event Cache on November 10th and was wondering if anyone would send me the GC of one that will be close to us. Thanks MarPeg

  6. Are you talking about regular PQs, or PQs from the "Caches Along A Route?" I just ran two PQs that were already in my list with no problems.

I haven't tried a Brand New PQ, nor a "Caches Along A Route" PQ.

Try running a BRAND NEW PQ, and let me know if you are able to.

I just ran one and got it in a minute or so....

hmmmm, wonder what is going on!

  8. Emailed Eric with Groundspeak and he told me they were updating and it wouldn't be until next week that I would be able to run new queries. Anyone else having this problem?

  10. Gramza--

When idd you las download the latest version of Palm Desktop? I saw a note on the palm webpage saying they were working on a fix, but think it is due out sometime this summer.

    About three weeks ago.

By the way, I HATE VISTA

I know, why does a good thing always have to change. It seems like if you want a new computer that is the only choice you have unless you go with a mac. I'm just not computer literate enough to make that change. I will say geocaching has definitely made me more computer literate. Happy caching and I will download the latest version and see if that helps. Thanks.

  11. Where do I get the download for "PalmVista Simple Installer"? Thanks, I'm not the most computer literate.

Once you have run your query in GSAK and are ready to export the PDB file to your SD card, just set that path as the filename to save the file to (On the SD Card). After creating the file on the SD card, it will attempt to run the install, and you can just cancel that.

I have been paperless caching for about a month now, and I have Vista, and that is the workaround I found. Haven't run into any problems with it.

Thanks, I have been paperless caching since about February so can't live without it and do not want to lug the bigt laptop around with me when traveling.

  12. I'm using Vista, GSAK and my palm all with no problems. Are you using Cachemate or something else on your Palm?

All I did was go to the Palm web sight and download the latest version of Palm Desktop and it works fine.

Well, aren't I the jealous one. I am using cachemate and will try the download. Are you using cachemate?
