  1. I've made these and you're right.. glue doesn't work so well. Good idea melting them together... I'll try it next time I make one. How many times have I tried to glue stuff like this? Melting! such a simple idea. I've got to try this...
  2. Well I have read all 98 pages and I must say the creative juices are flowing. I have plans to copy a few of these and maybe create a unique cache or two of my own. will be posting pics as soon and the locals have had ample opportunity to locate and log! Keep up the great work everyone!!!
  3. Hilarious! Great name, and fantastic job of decorating it, too (especially the lettering!) Great Camo I am going to have to steal this! I wonder if one of the local tobacco shops will let me install it near their doorway!! Would be awesome in an urban setting.
  4. Let's see some pictures. I have thought about doing one in a light bulb but I have yet to figure out where to put it. My fear is that someone would come along and replace it with a working one.
  5. Why does everyone seem to think that an ammo can has to be cammo'd and hid in the woods? Anyone can hide a cammo'd can. The real trick is to hide on that is bright pink.
  6. After reading each and every page of this thread the creative juices started flowing. This is my answer to a traditional ammo can in the woods. The cache title will be something like This Little Piggy Went…. It was supposed to be placed at a new local BBQ restaurant but a fellow cacher place a micro there before I had a chance to place this one. The problem was, since this place is new, so was the landscaping. There just wasn’t a decent place to hide a bright pink pig without it sticking out like a sore thumb. I would appreciate any ideas or suggestions you might have.
  7. I pointed the nozzle away from the object I was painting. Now, how do you remove spray paint from your face without the use of harsh caustic chemicals????? I cannot go to work looking like this!
  8. How do you upload an image to be seen in a topic reply? I have used the forum search engine with poor results. Thanks for your help.
  9. Ok, I finally upgraded from my good ole trusty Magellan GPS 315 to this new Garmin and I can't seem to download more than 50 caches to it. Will this thing only hold 50? I thought 500 was standard. I have looked through the manual that came with my unit and I can't seem to find anything relating to number of waypoints that this thing can hold. I downloaded about 100 GPX files into GSAK and used GSAK to download into my GPSr. HELP!!!
  10. Its nice to know that i am not the only one that keeps a hard hat handy. I have found that in high muggle area the only thing you need is the right attutude. If you don the "I have reason to be here and I am just doing my job" attitude no one pays you any attention.
  11. As the parent of a 9 yr old who used to have a problem with spelling, I feel I should add my two cents. When my son was in second grade his teacher informed us that his spelling was great. He spelled everything exactly as he pronounced it and that was how children learned to spell correctly. The problem, she pointed out, was that he had a speech problem. After our initial visit to a speech therapist we were told our son could not lift his tongue or stick it out. A week later we had his tongue clipped and began speech therapy so he could learn to manipulate his tongue (a muscle he never learned to use) and learn to pronounce words correctly. He is now a very proficient writer and has written several books, including a few non-fiction titles. He would not be at this level if someone had not pointed out his problem. As parents, we sometimes overlook the obvious and consider some things as being part of our children’s character traits. I would recommend looking at your child’s writings to see if he is spelling some words, as he is saying them, if so, there may not be a spelling problem. And to reiterate what some of the above post tell you, a spell checker is not a spelling/grammar tutor.
  12. If anyone has an old GPS 315/320 that doesn't work anymore or has an extra cable that they no longer need, please let me know. I would like to be able to download directly to my gps. I took me abaout an hour of searching for a cache two days ago to finally realize that I had manually keyed in a wrong cord . Very fustrating!
  13. After reading your reply I powered up my unit and it is a 315/320, so I decided to search through menu options. If yours did it so should mine, right? Within minutes, I found where I could change the Lat and Lon from deg/min.mm to deg/min.mmm . I now have three decimal places and have no desire to upgrade my gpsr at this time. Thanks for your reply, it made me look. I can't wait to locate my next cache using full cords.
  14. Please don’t laugh, but I have (and love) an old Magellen model 315 GPSr (circa 1998). As a newbie, I have only logged 43 caches to date and I would like to update with a newer unit. I do not want, or need, bells and whistles. The only feature I use on my old unit is the compass which shows me the direction to go and where the sun and moon is. To me, this is what makes caching fun. I do not want a map that tells me turn by turn where to go, and the fastest way from point A to point B. I have found many areas in my city that I would not have known about if I used a map. My only complaint with this model is that I have to manually enter waypoints and I can only enter Lat. and Lon. up to two decimal places . I could buy a cable that would allow direct download but I would still only have two decimal places. This unit has never let me down and has worked great in dense tree cover. I have never lost a signal with this unit. What I want: Older GPSr with cables (serial or usb, usb preferred) that is capable of three decimal places with compass. I would also like to go paperless so an el cheapo model of pda or pocket pc would be great. Either would do, and like the GPSr, a usb model would be preferred. A b&w screen is fine and rechargeable would be nice. These items would only be used for cashing and keep in mind that my budget is extremely limited. Everything that I have asked for is nothing more than a want that my wallet says I can do without. I am open to any and all ideas and suggestions. Thanks for any advice you can offer.
