Yeah, I'm a Mac-head, but that is a terrible article. This person obviously didn't do much research on the subject. My wife is a writer and I know she spends hours if not days or weeks researching something before she even drafts an article.
Other than planting the idea of geocaching in the minds of others, this is misleading publicity.

I worked on a tool like this for my own personal use a while back. But after reading the terms of use for the site I backed off...
"This website is for personal and non-commercial use. You may not modify, copy, excerpt, distribute, transmit, publish, license, create derivative works from, or sell any information, or services obtained from this website." (emphasis mine)
I realize that it's not being sold, but 'creating derivitive works' is a serious issue when it comes to intellectual property law. I'm not trying to be a killjoy either. Just be aware.

RS232 is tech from the 70's. I still can't figure out why companies make products that use it. USB has been standard for 5+ years.
I wanted to connect my eTrex Summit to my machine but I didn't have a cable for it. They wanted $20 for a serial cable. A serial cable for $20? That's madnesss. Then another $30 for the serial to USB adapter. Well, I used my serial to USB palm adapter, and made the serial cable from scratch. Not pretty but it works like a charm. Find a shot of the semi-finished product below.

I just took my wife to two caches that I have been to before. Of course, I let her actually use the GPS and find them, but it counted as a 'revisit' since we log as the same person on the site. I'll be placing a note to say that I was back, but not as a find. TNLN.

If I get a TB, and it has a mission of going to a certain place, what do I do once I get it there? Just place it in any cache in the mission area? Or do I hold onto it since it has completed its mission?
