  1. Well if his collection is not worth at least his annual salary times the amount of years he has to retirement plus the $250,000 and 5 years in the Federal prison, I doubt his collection is anything to shout about. If you contact the Postal Inspectors the person who has collected your money and not delivered the goods has committed at least two felonies so far, mail fraud and wire fraud. If Groundspeak can't get him to make good they can sure make his life a living hell. Yeah. I think anyone is well within their rights to bring this to some sort of closure as they see fit, and I think this has to get resolved somehow if for no other reason than to help ensure it is less likely to happen again. I'm just not sure how many of us that only ordered one or two will follow up on this with some sort of legal action. I think it's probably more likely that the clubs who have purchases with totals on the hundreds of dollars will pursue legal action should any of them deem it necessary. ummm - just to be clear (so no one thinks I'm accusing the USPS of something ... I like mail carriers. They are my friends. They bring me shiny things in cushy packaging. ) that comment I made to Shilo is about a separate trade we have. It looks like the coins we sent each other have both been delayed in the mail. It was a bit OT, but when I wrote the post, I was just wondering if there are piles of coins that have fallen out of envelopes, dropped off conveyors, or have otherwise become unclaimed merchandise in stacks at the post offices around the country. I recently heard of a place in Alabama where all of the unclaimed baggage from several major airlines goes. It is opened, sorted, priced and put on sale (yes - the clothing is dry cleaned). Back on topic - now I'm wondering if the Wyoming coins are in Alabama? HA! My comments were to let people know that they do have options when it comes to this sort of thing, Also all undelivable, lose or damage mail will sooner or later end up in Atlanta's dead letter office. If you contact your local office and put in a tracer inquiry with the information about your package (it has to be the sender that makes the inquiry) they will check at all the points between where the item entered the mail stream and where it ends. Then if they cannot find it they will tell you to contact the dead letter office and list the contents and see if they are there. It's a long progress (two or three months) but if it helps recover your property it's worthwhile. I worked on several inquiries and things are found this way believe it or not. I just don't think people should be so quick to write it off as a loss when theres other options

Well, Charlie suggested I do this coin since I coached him on how to play me in that little movie he did.

This is a preview of a coin I'm having made to mark my 5k milestone, it will be trackable, it's close to the final design and should be ready in a month or so.
  7. The silver looks alot better in person than they do in the picture Billy but both samples got pretty good reviews this weekend. I'll be waiting for the shipment to come in
  8. I could use a handfull of them, let us know when they're on sale

  12. Thanks for the upgrade, as always it keeps getting better and better.
  13. The Margaritaville multi will take you pass most of the other caches on the keys and take you to places you might not know has anything to do with Buffet. The southern most point cache is a neat place. There are several benchmarks also if you're interested in that. Download everything and try them all, there's not that many. There's one that takes you to an old cemetary(can't remember the name) alot of history in there.
  14. The idea to add an icon for the "1st" cache placed in each state in the U.S. is a very good idea indeed. If local geocaching organizations would adopt their state's first cache the maintenance could be shared to insure that it will be available for future hunters. If it's archived they could replace it so that it could be hunted again. If it's because of location where it is no longer permitted, maybe asking the reigning authorities if a plague commemerating it's locale could be erected. Then make it a virtual where you have to have a photo of it with your gps. Or if it's an unsafe place have a cache placed as near as safely possible to the original and explain the history behind it. I know I'm not going to hunt the Mt. St. Helens cache at the present time. There's a way for each one of these caches to be unarchive or maintained, if the locals would take an interest it can happen. We have a pretty good standing with all of our parks systems in Tennessee thanks to Jogps who has met with local and state agency and explain that geocachers on the whole leave an area in better condition than they find it. We have several area parks that promote our sport because of the meetings. Out of the 20 something 1st state caches archived there are probably only a hand full that were placed somewhere that can no longer support an active cache. It would be an unique icon that people would have to make an effort to get. I think if people believe 50 caches is not big enough number then have each country list their first cache and you would have 250 caches and everyone would have a chance to get at least one of these finds. I think TheStosh had an excellant idea. I will hunt a 2 or 3 digit cache if I find one still active or the states first place when I go into a new area. I also like a little history with my caches but that's just my 2 cents worth.
  15. Now I know I didn't treat you that bad on our cache run. Are you going to wear that prison rodeo shirt while you're there? Keep in touch and let us hear from you. Mosestron and the Wolf Pack
  16. Thanks, I'll contact them in the up coming days. Appreciate the help
  17. My wife (Grannylani) and I are coming to the area next month and would like to get in contact with some area cachers. She is approaching her 1k mark and would like to surpass it while we're in town. Any help on some quick find and go caches or contacts we can call if we get stumped would be greatly appreciated. We are setting August the 26 aside for nothing but caching, I know this is during the week but the rest of our time there is already booked with noncaching activities. Thanks Mosestron
  18. Congrats Lynn on the big 5000, enjoyed hunting and socializing with you last nite. Will see you at the party tonight when you're presented the gold cache Have never met a nicer cacher than you and yours. I'll be there when you hit 10k also. Happy huntin
  19. When I started I hunted with members of my family, sometimes there was six or seven of us. Once there was nine. When I attended my first meeting and introduced myself to some of the other members, I got a response from one "Oh, you're one of the pack" Which I guess is how we were hunting like a pack of wolves. But we did eat up some finds though
  20. I've met five of the top ten and they go at it hard, BruceS and I pass each other when I was just starting out caching, it was 10:30 A.M. and we chat for a couple of minutes, he said his gps had died and he borrow one, so he was behind schedule, had only found 15 so far. CCCooper and her daughter were in town to celebrate her 3000th find and we chatted awhile found a couple of caches that was placed in her honor and told cache stories. They thanked everyone there who had placed a cache in the area that they had found, and in a couple of weekends it was over two or three hundred, 115 in a marathon day. They are nice people. Robert Lipe is a computor whiz who I think has every gadget made by man and can explain how to use it, he and his young son have over 1400 finds, he does alot for the Middle Tennessee Geocachers Club, from being an officer to organizing special events and meetings. If you have a question about something he can usually answer it or find out for you. Southpaw is closing in on 2000 and has more ftf than most has fines, he enjoys talking about caches that you have in common, about what he ran into when he found it and listens to you tell what happen when you went after it. That's what we do at most of our meetings, it's almost like talking fishing (the one that almost got away). He has some very good hides also. Jogps is over 2000 finds and could have more but he gives his time helping new cachers learn and enjoy the game and working with our parks systems statewide, so we can continue to cache in them. Some of the toughest caches you will ever find are one of jogps or his brother Southpaw's. No matter what he's doing or where he's at, he always find time to help someone when it comes to this game. The last three are tops in the state of Tennessee and are very active so I'll probably never pass any of them, but it was nice to have a stats sheet so I could see how many thousand more I needed to pass them. All of these guys get alot of finds but they are just like I am, they still enjoy clever hides or unique places and other cachers, that's what hooked me away. It may not be about numbers but I like mile markers too because they let you know how far you have came and how far you still need to go. Long winded way of saying bring back the stats. Mosestron
  21. There is a demand for stats, I have about 12 people in my family that cache and we would pull the latest ranks and e-mail them to each other, with the statement " you better get back in the woods" I was currently 4th in the Nashville area and in the top 60 in the country, but now I can only keep up with Nashville ranks by asking the cacher on my heels and the one above what their counts are. Numbers aren't everything but they sure are fun, like when you hit an area for the first time and come away with 50 or more and you jump over 3 or 4 ahead of you. It would be great if they at least had state stats.
  22. Thanks, knew it had been a while since I could pull the page up, it's a shame
  23. I was wondering if anyone knows what happen to Dan's stats page, did he closes it or is it just my pc. I really enjoyed looking at the stats around the state and country.
