  1. Did not think about the lock on the sd card, just checked it but it is not locked out. The data is stored in GM as a gpx file which prior to yesterday all I had to do was highlight the info I wanted to transfer and hit the button and it would move to the gps unit. The data is stored in the geocache folder either on the sd card or on the internal memory, folders are both named the same. I have looked in the geocache folders, POI folders and find no new data. There is old data in the folder but it appears that the new information is not writing over the old.
  2. I have now uninstalled both the magellan software and the mapsend topo programs and reinstalled both. I have tired to upload both a pocket querry and information typed directly into geocache manger and still cannot upload.
  3. I have a 500 LE and have been extreamly happy with the unit until yesterday and have used it for four months now without any problems. I am unable to upload and information from the magellan geocache manager to the gps unit. The computer finds the unit and even says that the infromation has transfered, but it is not there. I have searched both the internal memory and the SD card and there is no new information. The only change I have made is that I installed a new sd card, 2mb, and uploaded a topo map, this information is in the unit. I even put the old sd card back in the unit and tried that and it still does not work. I called Magellan and after 10 min with the tech I was told they could not resolve my problem. Any suggestions? I will be calling magellan again on Monday and I don't want to return this unit.
  4. I just became a premium member so I can now do pocket queries. Before this I manually entered the cache information into geocache manager. Today I downloaded individual gpx files form the cache pages and did not use a query. I saved these (15) files to a folder on my desktop. I want to add these new files to my existing list in geocache manager but when I attempt to do this it only opens a new list page and will not merge with the existing one. What am I missing, I am sure there is an easy way to do this or do I have to always run a pocket querry??
  5. I have the 500 le and purchased a battery for $20 direct from Magellan, they still have this offer. I did not want to screw with the warantee by using other batteries. The unit and the battery both came with a 110 volt cable. I keep one in the car and connect it to my power inverter that I use for my laptop. Keeps the battery charged just fine for me.
  6. I have had the unit for a couple of months now and have experienced no problems. I purchased the 500 le that did not come with the rechargable battery, it uses the AAA with an adapter. I was going through batteries twice a day. I ordered the rechargable battery from Magellan and this has been great. Battery life easily exceeds two days not even using the back light.

    HELP

OK I'll ask the question... First off I have a Magellan 500 and a Palm M125. I am not a premium member, yet but will be soon. I am currently using Magellan Geocache Manager to keep track of by finds etc. I will add that I am not a computer nerd so please keep answers somewhat basic. Yes I can turn on the equipment so I do not need it to be that basic. My question is, What do I need to go paperless and how to I make it work togeather? I like the cache manager from Magellan but this is the only one I have been exposed to.
  8. I have an older Palm unit a M125. Can this be easily used for paperless caching or is this to old of a unit? What software would I need if this can be used? Doubt that it matters but I am using a Magellan 500 gps unit.
  9. you could buy rechargable batteries, like an energizer 15 minute aa and aaa charger which i use for my eTrex. I ordered the motorola battery and it works like a charm, and i have the LiIon battery as well, the motorola for the way less money if you do buy a battery from magellan, mine came with one, the little bit of run time that you sacrifice to save 13 bucks is worth it. I have the 15 min rechargable rayovac and have poor luck with them. After charging the battry meter on the unit shows only about a half charge. When in use they only work for about 20 to 30 min.
  10. I ordered the rechargable battery for my 500LE from Magellan about 4 weeks ago and it is still on back order. Has anyone ordered and received these batteries? I have read postings about using the SNN5595B from Motorolla. I am tired of replacing the AAAs everyday. Does anyone have suggestions? I also posted this in the garage sale forum if by chance someone has an extra battery.

  13. I have read the entries for this topic a couple of times now and some very good information has been provided on handling the entries and working with Groundspeak. It also appears that GS has now locked this persons account. This to my knowledge is about the best they can do. However, as it was pointed out they can create a new account and continue just as before. Renagade Knight hit on a very valid point in that "Death To" is a threat, be it actual or implied. As you live in FL and this person is alledgedly in WV I doubt that they live next door to you, but you never know for sure. I would suggest a call to your local police and discuss the issue with them. As it appears this alledged threat was made electronically over several state boarders this matter could also be a federal issue. If they believe the case has merit they will refer it to the States Attorney for their investigation. Anymore it is very hard to tell who will carry out their threats or are just making statements to move the air. You can read about things like this happening in the papers every day. Will this person carry through on the alledged threat, I doubt it. However, I would not bet my life on it either. Ok, I'll get off my soapbox.
  14. I am using a Magellan 500le that uses AAA batteries. I have tried using the Rayovac 15 minute recharables with no success. I have cycled the batteries 5 times and even when fully charged the meter on the gps ony shows the batteries to be abo0ut 1/3 charged. I also only get about a 20 use with these batteries. I thought I had a bad set so I exchanged them for new ones with the same results. I am open for suggestions. I know Magellan has the lithium battery that can be used, is this worth it?
  15. Groundspeak has these for micro caches: http://shop.Groundspeak.com/productDetail....mp;ProductID=24 If you have a brick yard near you they should supply artificial stone used for simulating stone on buildings. Not sure what it is made of but is is relatively light weight and can be shaped with a dremel tool.
  16. Ok I am with you on adding the photos to the forums but how do you add the photos to a cache log?
  17. Is there a way, without being a premium member, to download to the Magellan Geocache Manager without using the easy gps program?
  18. Ok I'm new.... What is a "PQ" and a "KLM"? I am not a Premium member, yet, but am seriously thinking about it.
  19. I am new to this and have a question. I have seen several logs which note "Touch and go for travel bug milage" what does this mean? Are they simply using a coin to track the distance they have traveled while geocaching? What is the point of this? If you maintan your own log would this not provide the same information?
  20. The battery clip from the LS is removable and can be replaced with a rechargable battery. You can order a battery direct from Magellan for $20 which includes the charger. This is a "while quanities last" offer direct from Magellan.
