  1. Show Me The Cache has several RIGHT around the Churchill Downs property. Then there is GC2TGXF, which is close to Churchill. I haven't done that one yet, but have been told it is quite the treat. In Southern Indiana, I'm a fan of where GC94FA takes you. Beyond that? Depends on what kind of caching you are in the mood for.

That is WONDERFUL. Thank you. I will look and see. And I will let you know about GC94FA

    Again, Thank you

  2.

Going to Louisville KY & Lexington KY next Friday. Can anyone recommend any MUST DO cache's around Churchill Downs - of course, horse related??? Also crossing the bridge to Indiana, about 15 miles over. Would love suggestions.

    Thanks

  3. A couple of questions:

--where are you located? This is an international forum, and those of us who would be happy to have you join us have no idea how far away you are from us.

--unless you include your email address, a lot of folks won't reply to emails sent to them.

some of those emails might have ended up in spam folders.

--events are the best option. You don't need to feel silly by saying "hey, I'm a newbie. Anyone want to team up some time?"

--I don't do that fazebook thing, but apparently it's the hottest thing going for geocachers. Perhaps your local folks are gathering all the time on a fazebook page?

Hope you meet up with some folks. I certainly can relate to the concern about caching alone in some situations.

Or .... perhaps .... convince your hubby to join you and the fun of geocaching?

    B.

Thank you for your advice. Do you mean "Facebook"? And hubby is coming with me on some. Usually have to work everyother weekend, so he can't go with me during the week. But will check out some options. PS. Can't wait to visit Canada one day!!!

  4. Here's a list of upcoming events in your area...

I used Hide and Seek a cache, http://www.geocaching.com/seek/

Try advanced search options, in the lowest search pane >>>Advanced Search and asked for Events by coords, using the coords of the first cache you found.

Attending events is how to meet folks to cache with !

Thank you. Already signed up for the Bugs one. Really looking forward to it.

  5. Can't believe I am writing this, that I sunk this low, but I am looking for people to Geocache with. Yes, I am a newbie. Yes, there is a lot to learn. Yes, I will get the hang of it soon. But for now, I would love to meet with people, or find ONE person who likes to Geocache & maybe would like to help out someone. Signed up for 2 events in my area, hoping to meet people there. Even sent off an email to some people locally & never heard from them. Just recently, I went 2 places geocaching, where, I should have brought someone with me. Got alittle scary at one point & I am originally from NJ, it takes a lot to shake me up. Now, hubby will not let me go by myself. My parents want to start doing this (they are in their 60's) and they can't go to some of the off the way places I would want too. Anyway. Feel like a freshman in HS or something, like you have to "DO YOUR TIME" before people will reach out to you. Anyone else feel like this, or is there a breech of etiquette I did when emailing people?

Hope everyone is having a great day.

  6. There is nothing official. But I heard on one podcast "Podcacher" that popular ways are to ask, "Have you found it yet?" Or, use your GPS and give some kind of signal. You could just ask, "R u a geocacher?" My idea is, "How many smiley's do you have?" Those would definitely throw non-geocachers off. :lostsignal: Hope this helps!:anibad::anitongue::antenna::ninja::omnomnom:

Hey, that is really good. How many smiley's do you have
