  1. Checking walmart.com they list the unit as being for sale for $342.64 when you add it to the cart to see the special price. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4564610 If you can get it at a better price locally go for it...but for those of us who shop online because we can't get the good deals locally (I called our local walmart which I will not shop at for many reasons and they have it for the $342 price as well), the $299.99 is still a great deal.
  2. Sweet! the list just gets longer and longer and as more sites get added that I have never been to before I foresee my bank account getting smaller and smaller!
  3. Normally I wouldn't post anything about a sale somewhere but if your looking to upgrade your GPS or get your first this is an amazing deal. REI currently has the Garmin GPSMAP 60csx on sale for $299.99 after a $50 mail in rebate through September 3rd. http://www.rei.com/product/735607 (also posted this in the GPSr discussion area but thought it was applicable here as well)

  5. Not intentionally ruling out ebay. But I don't see them as a coin provider but a venue where you may or may not get what you think you are buying. This stems from another thread in which there was quite the heated discussion about coins being listed as VHTF or LE when in fact they were neither. Also thanks to the poster who added the link to dorkfish, I had them on the list but my copy and paste job was not done properly and in inadvertently had multiple links to the caching place there instead. Another one to add: http://tntgeocoins.com/
  6. also some coins at http://www.socalgeocoins.com (so modest of you not to shamelessly self promote, but you do have some nice coins available). I know that there is a list of manufactures who often sell coins but trying to compile a list of places that also sell but may not mint...
  7. After reading a few posts about the problems with coins on ebay being potentially misrepresented and noobs (like me) who don’t know where to source coins, I thought this thread may be a good idea. I’m sure that I don’t have every site that sells geocoins on this list and if I haven’t listed one of your favorites it wasn’t for a lack of trying (it was completely for a lack of knowledge). After paying attention to this forum I have found the best way to get any new coin is to watch the forum like a hawk and get the pre-order/reservation in for the coins before they disappear. This is especially true of limited editions and other beautiful things that may never hit the mass market. But for those of us newer to the coin game these are some sites where coins can be found to fill out our collections. Where to buy coins on-line (In no particular order): http://www.geocoindesign.com/store/ http://www.thecachingplace.com/index.htm http://www.thecachingplace.com/index.htm http://www.thecachingplace.com/index.htm http://www.usageocoins.com/index.htm http://www.geocoinstore.com/ http://www.coinsandpins.com/ http://www.geocoinshop.com/store/ http://www.crakephoto.com/store/geocoins.html http://www.hogwildstuff.org/ http://www.geoswag.com http://www.coinswag.com/ Any other suggestions or resources out there?
  8. 514 now that's a nice pre-order total. So I gotta ask, how many coins will be minted in this order and most importantly, when will we get to have them in our collections? In all seriousness, again, thanks for doing another minting of this coin for those of us who missed out on the original sale!
  9. Got these in today, a healthy addition to my very small collection: Bee-Ware (AB) Euro Cache Antique Silver Master of Space GC Element (AC) Dragon Spinner ROT13 Antique Gold (x2) Road to Sacramento
  10. When you get in a new coin for your collection do you activate it or do you leave it alone? From what I have seen most people want to trade for or purchase coins that have not been activated. Would you be less likely to trade for or buy a coin if it was activated already and the owner was willing to adopt the coin to you? So far I have activated a few coins and sent out virtual info tags for a few of them (too many coins mysteriously disappear in this area) and allow them to be discovered at events. I just don't know if I am doing myself a disservice as far as trading down the road by doing so. Opinions, thoughts, or random ramblings are much appreciated.
  11. another question, kind of related: most people want to obtain/trade for unactivated coins. I can understand that it makes it easier so you can activate under your own account. However, is there any downside to trading for a coin that is activated so long as the person who activated it is willing to adopt it over to you? I guess the question becomes, if I think I may trade a coin down the road should I not activate it just in case?
  12. As a new collector who has now completed both a pre-sale order and a reservation order I don't really see any difference. The pre-sale was paid and the reservation was deducted out of quicken so the money is already set aside for the coin when it invoices. Either way it works out the same for me (as long as the coins are minted and arrive safely).
  13. Got our reservation in for that beautiful LE Pink butterfly. Big Eared Monkey loves the coins and is a sucker for pink. Truly looking forward to this one. Thanks!
  14. Just a simple word of thanks to FSM. As Pastafarians who missed the sale of the original minting we are THRILLED to be in on the pre-order for the new minting. These will be a treasured part of our small but growing collection. One of the monkeys here is also a full time biology instructor who graduated from Oregon State (where the church originated). Thank you for making a beautiful coin avaliable to the rest of us. One minor question, I assume that C&P are doing the minting, but who did the design and template work if not done by yourself?
  15. We accomplished the mission, but don't have any confirmation as of yet. *Crossing fingers*
  16. We have also been having problems not getting gc.com email. We have a few very active caches that we monitor and while there were posts to it yesterday, no email has been recieved. While pq is working fine, owner mail and watchlist mail and publication notification are not working. We use our own email server and all other messages are coming and going as expected. I have ordered products from businesses and sent test email messages to the accounts we use for geocaching and they are all functional. Hopefully gc.com will figure out what is going on and correct the issue ASAP.
