  1. Although it is one of the most visited places in California, I still like Yosemite National Park the best. No caches inside the park, but plenty on the way there. I snaped this picture while riding through the valley on my bike.
  2. Some people are better than others at hiding. I can say for myself, I do a lot better finding caches rather than hiding. I literally have only one hidden cache to my name. If everybody who plays the sport out there hid caches, there would be a lot more second-rate micros floating around. I say, leave the hiding to the creative minds. Others, like myself, can find other ways of giving back. For example, a few weeks ago I found a cache plundered on the sidewalk. I took it home, repaired it, refilled it with swag, and brought it back. Someday I might reach a level where I can activily plot my next placement. But, until then, I havent the time, the resources, nor the inginuity.

    Tb Question

Is there a way I (as the owner) can find out the tag number for my travel bug after releasing it? A cacher asked me for the number becuase she has forgotten to log it as found before she dropped it into another cache. The TB is currently in a cache and I have released it on its Copy Tag because the first got lost. I figured the only thing I could do was (1) contact the cache owner to check it or (2) wait until another cacher picks it up. Is there another way to find out? TB: The Baboon
  5. Southern California - SoCalAdmin Link to similar thread
  6. Yeah...Ive thought that would be a good idea too. Here is a thread for it: THREAD!!
  7. You might want to also try posting in the regional forums. Maybe somebody in there will have the the answer to your question.
  8. Beat me to the post. Glad you found it.
  9. Are you trying to log a cache? Visit the cache page and click "Found it? Log it!" in the upper right-hand corner of the page.
  10. I found a Jeep 4x4 in my mailbox today...a surprise. Just when I think I have all the rules of the Jeep 4x4 down, I find this: We not only can submit but we can nominate? Once I clicked on a picture I didnt see anything to do so. I would hope this would not be the case, unless some cachers are constantly frequenting the gallery to pick the best new pictures out. Can somebody please clarify, thanks!!
  11. There are a couple of ways you could go about it. Unfortunatly, I dont believe the cache will show up on keyword or zipcode searches. Also, there is not yet a feature to browse archived caches on GC.com. Therefore, you will need one of three things: the GC*** waypoint number of the cache, the cache owner, or a name of somebody who found the cache. a.) GC*** waypoint number On the main geocaching menu, click "Hide and Seek a Cache" Scroll down to "By Waypoint" and imput the number It should appear right away b.) The cache owner Go to this link: LINK Type the owners name exactly An email box should appear Above the box it should say "view profile" Click "user stats" Click "All cache hides" Look for the cache on that list (Note: if worse comes to worse you can email the cache owner for some help) c.) A name of somebody who found the cache Go to this link: LINK Type the cachers name exactly An email box should appear Above the box it should say "view profile" Click "user stats" Click "All cache finds" Look for the cache on that list Edit: Clarity
  12. I get a lot of strange messages from a lot of strange companies. Who knows where they get email addresses.
  13. I think you have to email the admins of the site. The email address is contact at geocaching dot com. Be sure to reference the bug number and the two user names. I have never heard of changing bug owners, so I dont know what to expect. Hope that helps.
  14. Although I appriciate you enthusiasm, please restrain from posting duplicate topics in multiple forum categories. This only leads to confusion of topic responses from others. I recomment closing this thread and refer to the one posted in "Getting Started" from now on.
  15. The point where you say cachers should stop their car and search...do they have to walk quite a bit further to find the cache or is it relativily close? If they have to walk some more, I would include the coords in the cache description. Telling where to disembark from your car is always nice and doesn't really add to the challenge by making cachers figure that out themselves. If it is a point of interest, definitely put the coord in the cache descriptions. Encrypting wont do much of anything, because you cant encrypt numbers. The only reason I can find to not include the coords for the car stopping point would be if the cache is hidden withing a matter of feet from that point. Then there is no real need becuase cachers can generally figure that out.
  16. I recall seeing that written in blue text further up this thread No, smurf...you typed CONTACT, not APPROVERS same difference I just had to set you straight. Thats all.
  17. I withdrawl my previous comment and now agree. I count 32 seconds to get onto geocaching.com, as opposed to an average of 4 seconds to other sites. I guess I just didnt notice it until you mentioned something. Dont mind the wait, its not that long.
  18. I think hand carved craftsmanship is always preferred over mass production.
  19. The next best thing: a quote from KA on a similar issue. He recommends sending an email to approvers at geocaching dot com.
  20. I found a Jeep near my home!!!!! Finally!!!
  21. If you select "run only once" do you have to delete it and start over if you want it to run again? Just a thought. I would create another just in case. Did you do it late at night? Because the PQ generator is probably in a different time zone.
  22. Or run a pocket query and select the "only caches with TBs"
  23. I agree...log again! I dont know if it will go towards your numbers count though. It might not.
