Just a Trifle

In 2009 our resolution will be to attend more geocaching events and meet more great people who enjoy caching, and discovering geocoins.

We are relatively new to the forum and so are not familiar with the general feeling of the community in this regard. It would seem to us that any personal coins we were lucky enough to receive would be a compliment and something to cherish, so while we were active in the caching community we would keep these coins to remind us of the special people who are out there. We have only participated in one mission so far so these coins too are special to us for this reason. A mission gift however, is bit of a lucky dip in some respects (and we were lucky). We haven't been lucky enough though to have received a gift out of nowhere, but if we did, we would probably place more value on that due to the generosity of the person making the gift. Would we place more value on a 4 coin gift than a 1 coin gift? Well it could be 4 very ordinary coins or 1 exceptional coin. That 1 coin gift could also represent the life and soul of the person giving the gift. We would be unlikely to ever sell coins on ebay though - it would be much more enjoyable to set all the coins free to travel from cache to cache.

NUDE CACHING GEOCOIN Well where do we start with listing the features we like and why? 1. Just the bare necessities - reminds us of what we enjoy most about caching - getting out there with nature, taking in the sights and sounds, stripping away the stress of the world and just getting out there and enjoying life 2. The oval shape is something we have not found before and it complements the scene on the coin. 3. It reminds us of our youth, a time when we could be carefree exploring the world before us. 4. It feels good to hold. 5. It makes us want to go out and continue to explore looking after our natural places, and being thankful that we and our loved ones continue to have good health and live in a country that is free and safe.

Gee thanks for this info Jackalgirl. I too like to see pictures on the trackable page, but my computer skills are lousy and all I have been able to manage in the past is posting a picture in the gallery. I will have to try and fix this up now.

I have decided that one of my New Year's GeoResolutions will be to set up my first cointest The ideas are starting already.

Our new year's resolution is to make more time to get out and about to find another 500 caches in 2009, and hopefully meet many new people while doing so.

On Christmas Eve I would usually spend some time having a few drinks with friends before preparing for the onslaught on Christmas Day. Coming from a large family this requires a mammoth effort. In my childhood, our family always had a visitor join us on Christmas Day and I could never figure out why we would invite a stranger to celebrate with us. When I was older I realised the visitor was usually someone in the neighbourhood who had nobody to celebrate with so we would just take them in for the day. Now whenever I am responsible for Christmas celebrations, I try to include anyone I know who might otherwise be on their own for the day.

This mission looks like fun so we are putting the fire under the witch's pot in anticipation of being added to the list of volunteers to help the Witch's coin on its mission. Our info is on the address list.

Those pictures of snow look so enticing while we are sitting here checking out the forum and having a laugh. It's 6.30pm and still 28C (82F) so you would have a snowball's chance in hell of being hit by one here. The coins look great - keep throwing those snowball's about and having fun.

Unfortunately the eclipse style micro epidemic seems to have spread - the fact there is almost no expense involved may have something to do with it. We certainly do not enjoy looking for them when there are perfect places to hide a regular size cache, especially when many caching teams involve kids. The other downside to the micros is the tendency to place them close to playgrounds.

Well we were too impatient to wait till Christmas so we opened our Santa's Mission and were excited by the generosity of TeamEccs21 who sent us a wonderful box of goodies. We were also intrigued by what the mission came in - a box for an all-weather remote controlled convenience system to start your car from the comfort of you home or office! WOW - you guys can buy a device so that you can start the air-conditioning in your car to cool it down before you hop in it! With temperatures between 32C - 38C (90F - 100F) the last few weeks one of these would make caching here in summer so much better! Thank you very much Tim and Marie for your gifts, we love your personal coin, pathtags and the Travel Penguin Christmas coin, and it seems, we have a challenge to complete before we unwrap the second gift. We hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and Holiday Season, and special thanks to Butterfly_Lady for helping to spread the cheer.

Wow our Secret Santa package has arrived but can we wait until Christmas to open it probably not! We will try and hold off as long as we can. This is the first mission we have participated in and we have been blown away by all the pictures of the wonderful missions being received. We sent ours out in early November and from what we have seen, we have a lot to learn. Thank you Butterfly_Lady for all your efforts organising this.

Congratulations Tsunrisebey on a great coin to reflect your feelings - home is certainly where the heart is. It is not likely we will ever have an opportunity of visiting your beautiful state but you never know, perhaps one day.

Now that is a different looking geocoin. I wonder how widely they will be found Congrats to all who have found them.

It's Australia - so they gonna be Gum trees thanks,Tooey... Well we're not exactly sure what trees they are, but we know they are definitely not Gum trees. They could be a type of she-oak though. It is interesting reading of the fun you are all having finding the Geo Sasquatch geocoins - there must be some teleporting going on to enable them to be found in such a wide area.

We were so very lucky that our Caught Red Handed micro geocoin was a "virtual" drop into this cache in Beijing on 3 November and then later grabbed by another cacher to head to the US. It took a few days for the email to arrive that the coin had been grabbed and initially we thought we had lost the coin until we realised it was not physically in the cache. We will keep our fingers crossed that your coin will find its way back into a cache some time soon.
