    So what's the simplest explanation?

    MONEY

The "double secret probation" algorithm selects the cachers who somehow result in the most $$$$$ flowing to Groundspeak coffers.

    GOT IT!!!!

Yes, we have noticed how some of those with an instagram/FB/youtube account seem to have received the reward ... yes, some have also placed some awesome caches, but others not so.  As a result, truly deserving COs have missed out which is very sad.

  2. Recently, owners of earthcaches at Ayres Rock were requested to provide permission from the local aboriginal community ... I believe you will require written confirmation from the traditional owners that they agree to the cache having been placed.  You should be able to send a message to your local reviewer to check though.

  3. I think the fair thing would be for a Reviewer not to be responsible for publishing caches in the same state in which they reside, given they can have all the information loaded into their GPS and time the publish log to coincide with when it suits them to go for the FTF. I understand the caches of concern were published at 10.20pm at night so knowledge of when publishing will occur will give a Reviewer an advantage over everyone else with a smartphone.

  4. If you are on facebook, you could join the Geocaching Brisbane group - it currently has about 330 members and usually put a link to upcoming events.

  5. Earth hour is soon approaching - some of the things we do on a daily basis include not wasting water and using no more than 100 litres per person each day, make sure lights are not left on in rooms not in use and outside lights have motion sensors fitted. :) We don't leave electronic equipment on standby, and we open our windows to cool the house down rather than installing airconditioning. Recycling whatever we can, and not buying into commercialism are other ways we look after our environment.

  6. During Earth Hour this year, we will be travelling to Wagga Wagga to attend Australia's first ever Mega Event. We will be camping along the way so will not be using any electricity at all on 27th March. Cooking and sleeping under the stars - life can't get much better than that. :D

We are well aware of Earth Hour it was conceived by the World Wildlife Fund and The Sydney Morning Herald in 2007, when 2.2 million residents of Sydney participated by turning off all non-essential lights. Following Sydney's lead, many other cities around the world adopted the event in 2008.

  7. It would seem everyone has already pointed out how great these coins look. It would be terrific to see some of these coins head out into the wide world. Thank you for your generosity.
