  1. I'll take Horse of war! If there are others let me know. Regards Anton
  2. Just to let everyone know that the order placed was received this past week. And it seems since the order was under R1000.00 that there were no import duties charged (or I was just lucky this time round). The Nocturnal coin is amazing! But has a hefty price at just under R200.00. Hope to show it off to fellow geocachers , but alas at this price it is unlikely to be released into the wild. Hope to place another order in August for the hemisphere coins. If you interested in possibly ordering as well drop me an email, or look out to the announcement here.
  3. I like trading items. True I don't always trade up, there are times that I take something from a cache, that is worth 100 times less, then the item I leave behind. So all in all, the caches on average are better off. Wet Logs? I love them as well. The ones that are damp, can still take my sticker. I think logs that have been damp, and the text and or colours have flowed a bit, have lots of character, like wrinkles on a person. If the log is to wet, then I will replace it with one of my spare logs I have with me, and then "keep" the wet log after drying it at home. It goes with all the other items into the "We have Found" box. What do you guys do with the items you trade in caches?
  4. I will only place a TB / coin in a cache, when I am relatively confident / sure that it is not a mugable cache. This does mean some TB's stay with me for quite some time, and I usualy log them in and out of all the caches we visit. And can get somewhat combersome at times, but at least the owner sees them traveling. So far of the 5 or so out there all have survived.

  6. Sounds like fun. If you have another one like this during the December holidays we will be there.
  7. There was a guy who tried the find a hunter's treasure, and after a few attempts had quite some displeasure. He search up high, He searched down low, He didnt's make a friends call, and all he found was Bobbie's .... (Who is the cacher, and where is the cache?)
  8. There was this man from Twane, Who hasn't had a FTF in Polokwane, However there may be a change to this event When this cacher company has him in this direction sent. (who is this?)
  9. There once was a man from Kent who did not know what geocaching meant. He went looking for a cache, but instead found a stash.

  11. The amazing "Nocturnal Geocoin - bronze" geocoin is available at www.CoinsAndPins.com. http://www.coinsandpins.com/product_info.p...products_id=385 I will be placing an order on Wednesday evening ( 2008-06-04). If there are any Gauteng cachers that would like to purchase any coins from there, please let me know, and I can add your requests onto my order. Shipping costs will be divided by the cost of your portion of the purchase. Please email (AntonDamhuis@cybersmart.co.za) me the item, and quantity you would like. I will confirm with you if I have placed the order on Wednesday night. I am willing to purchase up to R2,000.00 on my credit card, so it is first come first serve. You can either get the coins from me here in Edenvale (after hours), or Sandton during working hours. Delivery is about 15 days. Regards Anton
(WOW soos ek tik maak highlight Firefox al my spelfoute in Afrikaans). Dus my tonteldoos gaan bietjie laat geplant word, maar sal wel op 'n baie interessante plek wees (as ek dit reg kry om daar te plant). Cheers Anton
  13. Hi Batsgonemad Where did you purchase the nocternal coin from? I would love to have this coin, but coinsAndPins do not seem to sell this one anymore. Regards Anton
  14. Thanks to Gerald, KZN has beaten you guys to it... The first Wherigo cache in SA GC1BB15- Wherigo takes off in SA And you won't need a Garmin Colorado either.... Yea, Ding bat, and I have both completed out first Wherigo mission (the introductory one with the little alien. Will complete a few other "locationless" missions next weekend. Looks like an interesting concept.
  15. Does anyone know of Geocaching software on a PPC that supports NTRIP? I am looking at either GPS Tuner, or BeeLine GPS, to buy on my new HTC P3600, but neither seems to support NTRIP. BTW does anybody use either package? If so what do you like / dislike?
  16. My spelling sucks, but then again English is my 3rd language (not that I spell much better in the other two languages either). But Firefox supports spell checking in ALL input boxes if you enable it with an addon. And best of all it supports most languages, including English, Afrikaans, and Zulu. Download Firefox, it is better then IE, and much, much faster, although it does use more memory. Firefox supports many plugins and the spell checking plugin can be downloaded from: http://en.design-noir.de/mozilla/dictionary-switcher/ The Afrikaans Spell checker can be downloaded from (with all the other 11 languages): http://translate.org.za/content/view/1610/54/ Home page: http://www.translate.org.za/
  17. Hi Marius123 Once you have visted the cache, and get back to the PC enter the GC number or part of the cache name on this page (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/). Once you see the cache listing on the page, then click on the link that says log your visit. Then you enter the date you found it at, and a short message for the next cachers, and the owner to read. There are a few shorthand messages such as: TFTC = Thanks for the cache SL = Signed log L0T0 = Left zero Took zero LNTN = Left Nothing Took Nothing Then there are Travelbugs as well, that you can assist in traveling from cache to cache. Hope this gets you started. If you have more questions ask away.
  18. Hay that really looks good. I found a map of Africa, in jpg format. Will see if I can get it into the gif format as required by GSAK. Might call on your experience here GR if I don't come right.
  19. Thanks ClydeE! The work done there looks great, and will post there soon. I will attempt doing the African, and South African map. However I am still looking for some maps I can base my design on. Any one here in SA know where I can get one without infringing on any copy rights?
  20. Ek het my tonteldoos klaar, met sy skatte binne in en al, maar moet nog 'n plek vind hier op die oos rand. Ek sal probeer om dit klaar te he voor die einde van die maand. Sal laat weet hoe dit gaan.
  21. Hi I am looking at how feasible it would be to add South African provinces to "FindStatGen3.gsk", in GSAK, and would then allow the exports of provinces to the GC.com web site. I think I can do it, however I think there are two main problems, Sample (using Canada): http://www.world66.com/myworld66/visitedCa...?visited=ONQUAL The two main problems: 1) World66 (www.world66.com) do not seem to have the provinces for South Africa. I have emailed them for confirmation, and said I would like to assist them to add the provinces if they are interested, and they do not assist. As an alternative the maps could be hosted somewhere in SA (Can someone perhaps assist with this?) 2) I need some "Creative Commons" licence maps of the provinces in South Africa. So I can create the graphics for this. Does anyone know where I can get these? Are there cachers out there that would be interested in this graphical map export for their stats? Once it is working, then I will contact the creator of the original GSK makro, and ask him to include it for SA.
  22. I had a look at the spreadsheet and saw that a TB can get 25 points for an earth cache. However when we visited an earth cache, we were not able to add a TB into the cache location. If one could add a TB in to the cache location, would the TB not be penalised as the cacher could not leave it there, and would need to move it to another location, and thus the TB would not get the points as the same cacher moved it to more then one location.
  23. Yep they will be at the event. There will be two un-activated coins up as prices: eragonSaphira sponsored Dragon coin, and I have sponsored the a Flash Mob coin. This amazing (working) Quadrant coin will be on be there to be discovered. I hope to get a few more of these working coins.
  24. Have a look at this: http://gadgets.boingboing.net/2008/05/07/r...twatch-map.html and http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/arti...in_page_id=1770 It is the "GPS" of the 1920/30s
  25. At the S"ring event, I met up with someone, and saw they had a small collection of geocoins. I had seen coins and TB's before in caches, but never from this angle. Later on with the prize giving, did I get to know that this person was Andy from Fish Eagle. When the camping event came up in Utrecht, and I saw that Fish Eagle was also attending, my hopes rose that I might see this collection. Another thing that struck me odd (at the time), was Wazat and his little duck. He takes this one TB with him where ever it goes, and it belongs to a girl somewhere in the UK. Now, since Utrecht, I mostly purchase 2 coins, release one, and keep one as a collectable. and also take a TB and keep it with me for quite some time, and log this TB / coin in and out of every cache we do, and I must say I have had some nice feedback from the owners, on 3 or 4 of these coins / TBs. To me they get to see a little of my geocaching experience. I also take a photo of these TB's in the scenery, and upload at least 1 photo every second cache we visit. Sometimes the photos are exiting sometime dull. http://www.geocaching.com/track/log.aspx?L...bd-f25aaf9f778b http://www.geocaching.com/track/log.aspx?L...bb-cc5f06d59c17 Also in one of the Icenrye videos there is someone that must have had over 1,000 coins in 2 files. That must be amazing to have / see. I also keep a personal log book of all the caches we have done, and now started a section of interesting TB's and Coins we have come across. So not only do I collect personal TB's coins, but also the ones we cross paths with.
