Porkey2 and DamhuisClan have come up with the idea of doing the GPS (Gauteng Power Series) on bicycles. The idea is to tackle the whole series over something 4 to 6 weekends. The first weekend will be early March 2013, and then every 2, 3, or 4 weeks later another section. It should not be a very strenuous ride, as we get to "rest" every 160 meters. On the 1st ride we hoping to do a small loop. Thus the idea is that we meet at some safe point where we can leave the cars, get on the bikes, do a section of the series, and get back to where we started, in something like 3 to 4 hours time frame. Are there any other cachers that would like to join us?

I'll have to look look into it. I can see it was moved by different people, but the program only lists 6,400 km travelled. Might have a bug somewhere. Ok. I have looked into it. There is no bug. In my database I have an entry for the 2012/12/12 where Manofsteel73 dipped (Visited) the TB in GC41KR, and thus the second leg to GC40QAM (America) does not count. I see from the current logs on the web site that the dipped entry has now been deleted / removed. So the score should come right by the next run.

Very interesting..... The reason it is not seeing the distance as the program I wrote looks for "Dropped Off" and "Visited" logs. In the case of Polly there is no "Dropped Off" off log into the Voortrekker TB hotel. I have tried to look what happens if I include "Retrieve It from a Cache" logs but it skews the number of caches visited, and screws around with the "Single person distance" points. My suggestion is to perhaps grab it from the current holder, drop it in the TB hotel on the the 5th or 6th October and then let the other person grab it again (and perhaps delete the grab logs). So I'll be posting the race results as they currently are.

I am not a greasemonkey script expert, and perhaps better to ask on a greaemonkey user board. I think the problem is that the association is incorrect in your browser. Thus when you click on the script, the browser thinks its a text file and displays it, rather than knowing it is a script and intalling/executing it.

If I could I would join. Geo936 organised the BR series (Breakfast Run) and then had a bike run from start to finish of about 30 to 40 km. Loads of fun and well attended by both bikers and cagers. I am thinking of a challenge up here: 6 Provinces in 6 hours. Want to do that on the bike.

Pretty cool what the Groundspeak API is allowing developers to do. Piy it only does ones own trackables. Would have been awesome to see all the 2013 Race TBs on one page.

YaY & Nay (more Nay) I agree, according to me, its not in the spirit of geocaching. But I can understand there is some commadery involved doing 650 caches in 24 hours (one every 2.5 minutes). But I would get bored and just go through the motions after the 1st hour. But that's me. And yes it is a bottle store, and at some point I will go there. The question to me is how I will go there. I have been chatting to Porky2 and we are set to do 20 / 30 km on bicycle at the end of Feb. I'll have to train for that. I am very unfit. What I am still not clear on, is whether I will log it under my clan name or perhaps create a new name such as "DamhuisClan-PT" name, and log the caches under that. Still have a few months to think about it. Time will tell.

To me it gives just another aspect of the game. I love the badges. Majority of my caching are traditionals. So looking at the badges I am trying to "up" my multies, and unknowns. Do I rush out and only do those? No. But I do give them a little extra effort. I love filling in my calendar. If I miss a day so what... then I just fill it in next year. But to me it is most enjoyable to get up 40 minutes earlier in the morning, go out on a lovely motorbike ride to some cache, find it and still be in time for work at 7AM. So in a way I am chasing some numbers, but it not "balls to the wall" chasing them, it is at my own pace in my own time. One problem perhaps later on will be the "groen blokkie" blues. What will I do once they are all filled in. What will I do next? Not sure. It will be interesting to find out though.

Way to go Colin!. Perhaps also add in the value of the educational aspect of geocaching. Such as Earth Caches, and that it gets people "out there" to experience nature.

Would not mind to help, but Dullstroom is a little to far away, and its during the week. Pity.
