  1. Some time ago I have created a spreadsheet, from approximate info from the internet which calculates the distance of various planets, and Proxima Centauri to a scale Example 1: If the Sun is 5cm big (Size of tennis ball) then the earth is 0.45 mm big (Grain of sand), at a distance of 5.21 meters Proxima Centauri would then be 1433 km away. Example 2: If the Sun is 80cm big (Size of excersize ball) then the earth is 7.3 mm big (marble?), at a distance of 83.3 meters Proxima Centauri would then be 23 000 km away. If anybody would like this spreadsheet let me know, and I'll forward off-list.
  2. 15 Caches archived in the last week. 1 event, 1 multi, and 13 traditionals
  3. Congrats to: Wormgeocash: 900 W@lly: 500 BruceTP: 450 HeinG: 350 All over the past weekend. And also to: hosta: 400
  4. My wife got out our old Monopoly set, and there is the word "Waddingtons". So that is her guess.
  5. Hi Team57 Look at the bottom of the page. There will be a list of TB/ coins which are in your possession. U can either "Drop them off", or allow them to "Visit" the cache. If you don't come right Skype me (Anton.Damhuis) or PM me, and Ill help off list. Good luck.
  6. Total number of caches placed by province to date: Gauteng: 1427 Western Cape: 1422 Kwazulu Natal: 1009 Mpumalanga: 713 Eastern Cape: 647 Free State: 323 Limpopo: 318 North West: 216 Northern Cape: 94 Total : 6169 I find it amazing that GP and WC are so close together.
  7. I saw that when we were there, and quite diasapointed that it was never updated after that year. I thought of writing to the Linden newspaper at the time, and make them aware of it at the time, but reading my email is sounded a bit snotty, so just deleted it ... and forgot about it till now. Maybe a news paper can do something about it. Or on 702 radio there is a LEAD SA campaign. Maybe that is a way to get the community involved with the giving something back to the police.
  8. Sjoe Danie 1200! Jy doen goed! The Gold Diggers: Congrats!
  9. 3 Caches archived in the last week. 1 event, 2 traditionals.
  10. Hi SonSoeker. If you host it, they will come. If held in a park, make sure there are adequate ablution facilities. And rememeber, although you might be nervous of hosting an event for the first time, every things just falls into place, in the end. Godd idea to have it at the end of November. Also remember that the companies do their Christmas dinners at that time. So a Sunday afternoon "might" be the best option.
  11. The idea is to get to Bloem before 8AM. Then hopefully we can meet up untill about 10 AM. 10 AM you guys leave, and we can do a few caches in the area, and leave about 2PM. Hopefully we can also say "Attended" for the event.
  12. I will chat to my geocaching buddies, and see if we can drive through on the Sunday. Then we can at least try and meet up the Capetonians.
  13. I think the baboon, boabab etc, is more suited to the 9 Provinces coins (maybe I am biased), as they don't really have much to do with: a) "A world in one country", nor "10 Years Caching in South Africa". But what leaves open "What does?"
  14. @TeamGinger: Some good points made. In a way I now agree that vuvuzelas, and perhaps the soccer should not be on the coin. But what would you as a foreigner to South Africa, make you want to buy the coin? From CapeDoc's idea: What does 10 Years of caching in South Africa mean to you? To me it is how the game has grown (How would one show this?). I also like the idea of a rainbow (Rainbow nation), Maybe something to do with earth, wind, fire water? Perhaps we could add in some way how these four elements make South Africa a world in one country.
  15. 13 caches archived in the last week. 4 Events, and 9 Others. Most notably those from besem in the magalies. (Sorry to see them go, before I got to find them)
  16. Couldn't the 1 in 2010 be in the shape of a vuvsela? Which then denotes the SWC here in ZA?
  17. Since the coin states "A world in one country", the back (or front) should give more indication as to why this is. What would "sell" SA as a "World in one country"? I think Table Mountain, Kruger Park, to name only two. (This is also what the 9 coins are about though)
  18. If you guys send me the pictures, I will use The GIMP and create some type of picture from it. I also have clay, and paint, so I can make a working model.
  19. Oh oh! 11th September is not good for me to go to Bloem. I would have double booked if it were not for Bruce! Pity though, but any date will not suit everyone.
  20. My wife would like to see Cape Town as well, and for her to be able to come with it would need to be the weekend of the 8th if at all possible. Also would there be a place where 5 of us can sleep for one night? We would bring our own camping beds.
  21. Maybe I am stepping out of line, but perhaps Loutjie can organise the event if he is in towm?
  22. Hi Bruce. Yep sure. But at this stage I am not yet sure from where we will travel (PE or JHB) and in what car (7 seater of normal sedan 4 seater). But yes when the time arrives, and there is a spot you are welcome to it.
  23. I am hoping it is in the school holidays. Then we will travel to CT from PE, and drive back that same weekend from there. However as it seems at the moment it will be held the weekend after the schools open, but nothing has been finalised as yet, so we are waiting and seeing.
  24. I'll see if I can twist a few wrists this side of Bloemies, and meet you all there. Will there be an event?
