Give us a better idea of where in San Diego you'll be visiting. Might make it easier to make suggestions.

I am speechless. Just got back from Northern California on Sunday night. Went up for my grandfathers funeral. We got back into Rancho Bernardo after dark and we could see the flames from 2 of the fires and the glow from others. We called up everyone we knew that might be evac'd to offer floor space and a roof if needed. I actually had to drive back out around RB and Poway before I felt safe enough to hit the sack.
We had one family member lose a house as well in Valley Center and another evac'd down near the Otay. Still waitning for word on their house. All I can say is that I am glad the all family's are safe!

I like my old trusty compass... Figure if the "newfangled" gps thingy stops funtioning then the compass still will get me where I need to be.

OK - from a relative caching newbie and long time San Diegenite
-for non-cache entertainment in that area:
Callahans on Mira Mesa Blvd for a pub
Tio Leos in Mira Mesa for good Mexican food and Marqies...

Seaworld is a virtual ->

It's not an issue of sexual preference...
The park is a public place. As someone said, "get a room" period, end of story.

I was just starting playing with making maps with the converter utility (Hopefully to work with my Platinum Maps)
Any comments, help, instruction, examples, ... that keeps me from reinventing a poor version of the wheel would be majorly appreciated.

Been lucky so far... I always make sure that the truck is as boring as possible and leave the glove box open and empty...
Couple months ago we startled a young-un that had just smashed a couple windows in cars at the trail head... He bolted to a car and zipped away. He had hit the cars on either side of my truck and there were remains of a daypack and purse scattered about in one of the cars and a CD collection and assorted goodies tossed about in the other... Sometimes being boring is good!

Mentally while Geocaching somewhere around 12
After a day of hiking and keeping up with my nephew and stepson I usually feel about 70 and tend to make sounds very much like my grandfather makes for a day or so after...

I ended up with the Venture. Was going to pick up the yellow but wanted the cable and a little extra memory.
*** Something about working with computers and telephone systems during the day makes me not trust any single device... LOL I carry a paper map, compass, gps and if I am feeling frisky I take the pda along for the hike too...

I have always felt welcome here and look forward to being a non-newbie someday.
Hmmm, of course I have been accused of thriving on abuse and having a tilted sense of humor...

I like Mapopolis for mine. I even use it with my GPS on trips - Its fun seeing the little blip move around on the map.
