  1. Read the next pargraph in the guidelines. What you have is Mystery or Puzzle Cache. The key sentence is No need for another cache type for the cache you are discussing.
  2. I've used a AA mini mag for years and haven't had any problems with it, except when I want to go hands-free. That's what I carry all the time in my cache kit. The night cache I set up has one leg that is over 200 feet long, and I had no problem setting it up with the mini-mag. I also have a couple of different headlamps (3 to be exact) for different activities. A great big one for biking (not made anymore so brand is meaningless), a Petzel Zoom that's good for mountaineering and caving, and a Black Diamond LED (don't remember the name) with two general area LEDs and one Hyper-Brite for medium distance - very lightweight.
  3. There is no call for that kind of behavior (rudeness). You are in the right. Check the "Geocaching Topics" forum for several on-going threads about finds/dnf/when/who and so on. Keep up the good work, and don't let one person affect you 'game'.
  4. Edit Waypoint: Right click on waypoint, select "Edit Waypoint..." from menu. Send Waypoint: Right click on waypoint, select "Send Waypoint to GPS" from menu. You can also do these functions on multiple waypoints. Left click on one wp, Ctrl-left click on each addtional wp. Then right click on any selected wp and proceed as above.
  5. Costco has had a nice package deal on the Magellan Sportrack - sorry, I don't know the details off hand.
  6. But there is ORIGINAL STASH TRIBUTE PLAQUE at the site of what would be GC1.
  7. That depends on whether you consider people burning fuel in their 12 mpg 4x4's while searching for tupperware environmentally friendly. I don't own a 4x4. And I NEVER burn fuel while seaching for tupperware! Now, getting to the TH is another story, but NOT while searching.
  8. You can also find the map link on the cache page. Down under the hints, is the section labeled "For Online Map...", under that is "Geocaching.com Maps (shows caches)", click that for a map centered on that cache.
  9. I thnk he would get more use out of 'OR' - skunks or smell - that should list either or both. 'AND' - skunks and smell - lists only both.
  10. That's a different issue all together. If you find that whilst caching, leave quickly, and watch out for booby traps! And be very careful with those lighters you can't leave in the cache - you wouldn't want to catch anything on fire now, would you?
  11. You don't need one of those, just use a hiking staff. About 10-15 would be about right, just enought to handle the sadan chair, computer, sat uplink, metal detector, batteries... Hmm, with food, water and equipment you better make that a staff of 25.
  12. There is a ban on tupperware. Only ammo boxes are allowed. Some similar rules for micros, I don't remember exactly. I think is was nothing larger than a Bison, but I don't remember for sure. Close. They must be able to fit IN a Bison! And they ain't talking logbooks... edit: forgot word - leave out the negitive and it changes the whole meaning...
  13. You must have gotten somebody's notice. It's now a Mystery Cache.
  14. Yep, we do! Rain is one of the biggest reasons you find lots of baggies inside those "waterproof" ammo cans around here. Also why Rite-In-The-Rain paper/logbooks are made around here! One way to write in logbooks with out getting them wet: carry a 1.5 or 2 gal ziplock bag - enough room for most logbooks, pen and hand! I'm a proud member of "The We Love Rain Society" - 'To rain wash the world, and keep wonderful Washington's image wet to discourage crowds'.
  15. Thanks, KA, that answers a little naggy question. P,R &SP, yep, that much I knew, thanks. It's the link to a section part way down the page that I don't know about.
  16. Well, we can always go back to bashing micros, virtuals, & (uh, what else are we suppose to bash?)...
  17. Good question! How do you? Inquiring minds want to know... Or how about web pages also.
  18. Not the most elegant: Download the LOC files for his caches (should be 9 pages so 9 files), open them in EasyGPS (copy/paste to one file), enter your home co-ords in file, double click on home to make it the active point, look in the column 'Distance to Active Point' to see which is closest. A little labor intensive. Maybe someone else has an easier/quicker method.
  19. It must be from global warming - the seas will rise and caches will be flooded!
  20. You prove my point. You even listed the work around - heat source. I never said it would be easy, light-weight, convienent, trouble free, or successful - just do-able. And anyone who hides a light plastic container in an area where it might get iced in, deserves what happens to the cache, IMO.
  21. I believe that only the Moun10Bike and USA coins are tracked on GC.com. They have their own TB pages, and are logged the same. Good luck!
  22. It's all part of new promotion: Pizza Box Caching. Soon 4000 pizza's will be hidden around the country, their approx co-ords will be published, use you nose for the find! Rember, only one piece per Pizza Box per cacher and trade even!
