  1. The coords for the old, archived "Coastal Cavern" cache near Coos Bay, Oregon: N 43° 20.740 W 124° 20.689 (do not approach from the north... that"s the wrong cave) The heck that it's archived... bring a flashlight and enjoy! ALSO... Arago Cliffs Revisited a few miles way is drop-dead georgous and worth the short hike. N 45° 12.927 W 123° 58.173 brings you to a fantastic eating place you should NOT miss on the Oregon coast.
  2. I will keep the rock for a special occasion. I can make a up a certificate with the pictures on it... and have it for an event cache or something. Even crazier idea: I have a travel bug planned with the tentative name of "The Cheer Up Chris Project". It's for a friend 800 miles away who has been going through a hard time. The goal of this TB is to travel to Chris' city and find a geocacher who will set up an event cache, like a pizza party, or BBQ and invite Chris there so he can enjoy a positive time with positive people. I bet it would be cool to reward that cacher with this rock... that way it would cheer up both Chris and the unknown cacher.
  3. Hey, isn't that spelled "PWN3D"? "All your ammo can are belong to us!" (I bet these kinds of net-culture references tend to be a BIT obscure to some folks... hmmmm...)
  4. Oh rats... didn't check the thread date. Apologies to all.
  5. I guess my fear would be that the area around the stash plaque would suddenly be ravaged by folks wanting to sell their own little piece of history. I'd hate for the area to be plundered and ruined because of a few people's greed. To be honest, that is what I was wondering myself. I am thinking it would be better to wait until I travel somewhere and trade it for a good dinner from another geocacher. More of saving it as a gift or barter could be a better idea. Hmmm...
  6. I have been a geek for many years. When the site goes down, I figure, "yup, it's a computer" and go on to something else until the site is up again. (flame-attractant coment deleted) it's par for the course. As they say: "Now you know why they call it a CURSOR!"
  7. I was at the Original Stash site a few weeks ago. I payed proper homage, signed the logbook, then I spied a rock right next to the famous plaque. Just an ugly, fist-sized rock. What the heck... I guess I can take that home. I took pics of the rock and the plaque. took the rock and left. Fast-forward to the other day: I was talking to a friend who heard that 'you can sell anything on Ebay!" I said without thinking: "Like a rock?" DING!!! Oh of all the crazy ideas...! What if I did sell that rock on Ebay? What impression would THAT give? Tacky? Crazy? Fun? Cool? Heck... it probably would be fun for someone who would never make it to Oregon... at least they have a genuine chunk of something from the original and first geocache site. Should I go for it? Your thoughts please. Thanks.
  8. Would be great to know what item you are referring to. I get a page full of garden decor items, none of which look like they could even remotely be used as a cache. Perhaps the page changes from day to day? The "truck payment" comment woiuld indicate possibly the "copper fire pit"? It is the only expensive item on the page I saw. The original post was in July of 2004, so the web page has changed since then. Why do people dig up two year old posts and reply to them? It just confuses folks. The original page was of giant, hollow artificial rocks for sale. Never trust a 2-year-old link.
  9. I took Chocolate Moose to a giant melted-chocolate-fall. Sorta like a waterfall, but tastes a lot better.
  10. Maybe we should ask for help from folks who play with radio controlled model helicopters!
  11. Professional GPS road mappers - cool article! I want something like this guy's job. Some GPS company please hire me to drive on LOTS of remote rural roads I've never seen before! Pretty please... I'm a geek to start with, and wanna travel! I even know how to arrange it so you save LOTS of money on fuel for the car! Less money on upfront costs! Just ask me! (silence... crickets... crickets... crickets...) Ah well... a person can dream, at least. Anyhoo... here's another link. Digg.com comments (link now fixed - thanks)
  12. Picked up a stick mid-morning, otherwise pretty quiet from what I've caught. What an un-bear-able thread. How can anyone get that bear from the ospreys? You'll just have to wing it.
  13. "MUUUUUUUUUST HAAAAAAAAAAAAVE LIIIIIIIIIIIIIINK!!!!!!!" Gotta have link!! AAAaaaaaaaahhhh!!!!!! AAAAAAAAIEE!!!!
  14. Are you going to have a "meeting event" at a public place between now and then to help organize it?
  15. I just joined the management for the Wind Harp group and the first thing I wanted to do was offer the group a CD of a VERY rare wind harp album that I have. No way, it seems. Am I missing something that there is no option for group discussion when I join a waymark group?
  16. Holy (bleep!) Here is a whole list of places that if they don't have geocaches or waymarks, they should! Huge 2-dimensional wall paintings that look 3-D Example: If you want to get coords to each location, translate the address to coords here
  17. This is a flat wall. The 3-D effect is painted on. http://stressbuster1.net/mural/ 127 S. Davis Avenue, Columbus, OH 43222: (39.956224, -83.021069) more info
  18. NOT the travel bug we seek. Aw man... Then again... if anyone gets that bear and then turns it into a TB, that would be a HECK of a story to go with it!
