  1. So which group are you putting me in? I'm not allowed to order the 25 cent senior coffee at McDonalds yet. G-people needing some caches to find? I hear caches on Entiat Ridge and Stevens Pass area calling.
  2. I took this picture today from this cache GCTEYC by Patudles. That cache is the same distance (27 miles) south of Stehekin as is the 25 mile creek campground.
  3. CONGRATULATIONS to g-people on reaching Milestone Find #500! Read the log: Little Si Sunset
  4. Good luck Blue J on reaching your goals and enjoy your trip.
  5. For the past week I have not received email notifications of new caches, nor have I received emailed pocket query files, nor have I received emails of logs from caches that I own or caches on my watchlist. I was setup to received emails on my AOL account, but yesterday switched over to my new Gmail account. Hope that works better.
  6. While geocaching in North Carolina yesterday I ran across the name of a geocacher, 2000Mountaineer, who has over 3100 Finds. I looked at his profile and was surprised to see he found that many in less than a year (member since August 2005). Yesterday he logged 80 finds in one day. Wow! Now that's some serious goecaching!
  7. Allanon is right. The rattlesnakes up north here (Crotalus viridis) are called Western Rattlesnakes. Here is where they live in WA State: Distribution Map. I used to think they were Western Diamondback Rattlesnakes, but they are another species (Crotalus atrox) that reside in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and Southern California.
  8. Good example for when searching for caches in places like that, it's always a good idea to send a stick in there first.
  9. Welcome back g-people. Good to hear ya made back safely. So which caches did you not get to yet? I thought you would have already done those since it only took me 2 hours to round up all 8 of them. But look on the good side, more locations freed up to hide new caches. That is if the locals are hiding caches anymore. I think the Cache-cadians need a jump start. Regarding Gadgets new hide, it can't be more evil than River Bend, can it? And to answer your question about Ish. He was a geocacher who was hid some great caches. He and I used to try and outsmart each other with puzzle caches. Unfortunataly, he got pulled over to the other side. He's now a muggle.
  10. Has anyone heard from XY lately? Is he still geocaching, or did he get Ish'd?
  11. Whats an Ish anyway? Well I'll be... they have Internet in the orchards..... He's been watching us. You can take the man out of geocaching, but you can't take geocaching out of the man.
  12. Does anyone have a method for removing ticks? Fortunately I haven't had any ticks on me this year, but I thought I'd pass this along in case it might help: My cousin sent this to me: Apply a glob of liquid soap to a cotton ball. Cover the tick with the soap-soaked cotton ball and swab it for a few seconds, (15-20), the tick will come out on it's own and be stuck to the cotton ball when you lift it away. This technique has worked every time I've used it (and in KY, that was frequently), and it's much less traumatic for the patient or animal; and easier for me. Unless someone is allergic to soap, I can't see that this would be damaging in any way. I even had my doctor's wife call me for advice because she had one stuck to her back and she couldn't reach it with tweezers. She used this method and immediately called me back to say, "It Worked"
  13. Retrieved and archived the following 8 caches: Simply Marbelous, Turtle Rock, Trivial Cache Pursuit, Apple Capital Recreation Loop Trail, Panorama, Hidden Coordinates, Happy 2006!!!, Simple Arithmetic. More to follow.
  14. Oooh- this one looks good too. Thanks. How much time should we allow for it? I'd allow at least 20-30 minutes to get the cache. Perhaps an hour if you want to look around the interpretative center.
  15. May I recommend one of my own? From some of the logs on the cache page it appears to be a worthwhile stop just off of I-90 at Vantage, WA. It's called If Rocks Could Talk. It's a fairly easy multi-cache that is located near a petrified forest. The multi takes you to exhibits of various petrified trees, a display of ancient indian petroglyphs, viewpoints of the Columbia River, and an area of lava rock. While there, you can check out the Ginkgo Petrified Forest Interpretive Center and the nearby rock shop. There is a picnic area, public parking and restrooms available.
  16. The dust has settled. What I meant was if anyone is waiting for the other caches hidden there to get approved, it's not going to happen. The approver doesn't want that area to get saturated with caches, much like it is on the west side. That ought to feather some ruffles.
  17. You mean this: Authorwhere. I looked at it but probably won't participate. I don't do Waymarking either. I'm busy enough with geocaching.
  18. Can you send a link? I'm not sure what you're talking about.
  19. Congratulations to g-people for finding number 400th cache, hiking through a thunderstorm and heavy downpour to achieve their milestone. Impressive. Great job, g-people.
  20. Congratulations Barnabirdys on #2300. Sorry to hear about your car troubles at Homestead II.
