  1. While caching with my Vista, the map helps alot, especially if you aren't familar with the area. I can zoom in and look for roads to take me where to park, etc.. We did 3 caches last weekend, one it was nice to see where the turns were, but we would have found it anyway, on two, was only used for the cache, so no big deal with the map, on number 3, without the detailed map, we would not have been able to get even close to the cache. As for the base map, I find it almost useless, no details, no streets, several of the highways we were on did not show up, and I like to see the names of the streams and small lakes that the base map will not provide. Oh, I am using Roads and Rec, and will be getting metroguide. It's not a sport unless there is something dead in the back of the truck when you get home.

  7. I have searched all over and can't figure out how to attach a gif or make an avatar that will work. Can an Avatar be animated .gif files or just jpgs? It's not a sport unless there is something dead in the back of the truck when you get home.
  8. Could just plead insanity or addiction, in CA they are real suckers for that stuff. It's not a sport unless there is something dead in the back of the truck when you get home.
  9. You accidentally put coordinates on a letter or bill. (thinking of using for my return address) It's not a sport unless there is something dead in the back of the truck when you get home.
  10. I have older Yamahas, 1 is 4 wheel drive, the other is 2. On the dry the 2 does as good as the 4, but when it gets icy, hands down the 4 does better. I would not buy new, and I would not buy 2 stroke. It's not a sport unless there is something dead in the back of the truck when you get home.
  11. I have only been at this for about a month, and we already drove an extra 130 miles to find 2 caches (the original trip was 125 miles each way, we put on 425). We did get 3 in a day along with alot of shopping and fun! It's not a sport unless there is something dead in the back of the truck when you get home.
  12. i am not sure about the GPS you purchased, but I have a legend and a vista, and the base map is very anemic. Several of the highways aren't even on it. But, put on the Roads and Rec, and it really comes to life. If they are anything alike, order the software ASAP. I bought mine the same time I picked up the Vista, and boy am I glad. 13. I have 3 GPSr's, a yellow etrex, a legend and a vista. All are great, but i love the vista. If you travel at all in a car, the Vista with metroguide is great. I only have roads and rec now, but the other is next on the want list. All 3 are very capable for caching, I use the Vista in the car with the map to get to the parking areas, then my 6 year old son uses the yellow and I use the legend to get to the cache. So far he has beaten me to 4 out of 5 of the finds! Also, they say the only difference in the legend and the vista is the memory, electronic compass, and the altimeter, but add them together, and the vista shines. It will keep pointing the way even when stopped! It's not a sport unless there is something dead in the back of the truck when you get home.
  14. I have a yellow etrex, a legend and a vista. All have worked very well for me. My fav is the vista, at first I didn't think the electronic compass or alt were big deals, but the compass was a huge plus when close to a waypoint as it will still work when standing still, no so with the others, you have to move to get new bearings. Also, I can put all of wyoming, and part of Montana and Colorado on the Vista using Roads and Rec. I can only put about 1/2 of only Wyoming on the legend, but it does a great job as well.
