  1. I announced this to the CRAKE mailing list a while ago, but haven't posted here yet. The Monarch geocoin, a design many months in the making, is finally ready to go. Well almost - there's a minor color tweak, and then I'll place the order. If all goes well, the coin along with a lapel pin will be available later in June with shipping late June/early July.

The front is a Monarch (of course). Bonus points if anyone can guess whether its a male or female butterfly . The back is the lifecycle, including common migration paths and overwintering sites.

Given Central Texas is smack in the middle of one of the paths we get to see these guys when caching, and with any luck we'll be able to get a few of these moving in caches so we'll get to see them year-round!

    Here's the sample:

    Stay tuned for ordering info!

    Male all the way. <_<

  2. I have not really collected geocoins for there numbers but I have found out that when geocoins arrive in the mail, it is uncany that a large majority of them are the number 10. I have received about 20 geocoins with this number. Maybe I should play the lottery.

    :)

  3. Here is a trick you can try. I remember when we use to cut tin sheeting, we would turn the circular saw blade around and cut it that way, it worked great. With these plastic containers, you can use the size drill bit you wish and just run your drill in reverse, it will actually burn its way thru the plastic. I just tried it and it works pretty well. Will need a little cleaning when finished, but looks good. Hope it works for your.

  4. Got a Great coin Today, well actually a coin and pin combo....

The 5000 Finds Geo-Acheivement Coin and Pin set from CoinsAndPins.com. This has to be one of the classiest coins I have ever seen in it's little velvet case!

Thanks Tess and Aaron for the great surprise!

Now to go order the whole set.......

    Thanks harlas. You done GOOD!

  11. Do You Remember?

Do you remember when geocoins were only traded or given as a personal thanks?

Do you remember when geocoins were sold between $3.00 and $4.00?

Do you remember when you could find geocoins in a cache as a first finder’s prize that had never been sold?

Do you remember when geocoins were treasured when you finally found or traded for one?

Do you remember when the online auction site never had a geocoin up for auction?

Do you remember when geocoins were traded “one for one”?

Do you remember when it was really hard to find, that special limited geocoin?

This is not for pros and cons about geocoins, it is just to bring back memories to the older collectors and a little bit of history to the new collectors.

Are there any other Do You Remembers that you would like to add?

  12. I bow to the great YemonYime......... ;):DB)
