  1. Generally wrong assumptions, so I'll assume you're just trolling as other didn't seem to have any problems discerning what was going on in the conversation.
  2. Personally I say who cares. As the great prophet Ming Ming says..."This is sewious!"
  3. SCORE!! I AM GOING TO GO LOG A DISCOVERED LOG!!
  4. I didn't ask about this cache. And, I've explained that already. If not this cache, or another then what exactly are you talking about, because I can't figure it out?. If you can't go back through and comprehend my replies on the topic then there isn't really any point in continuing this discussion. You are asserting I am asking things when I never had a question...and why I care, or don't care, is irrelevant.
  5. That's what I figured...was more curious that anything.
  6. Ah, cool, never seen that.....thanks, JV.
  7. Of course, if that is what you wanted to do after you signed the logbook. That sure is what I would have done. One difference though is that I wouldn't have brought it to the forums. Why wouldn't you log a "Needs Maintenance"? I would hope at the very least you'd log both. Geesh, can't the guy sign a logbook without getting nagged about all the other minor details? NEVER!
  8. That's odd...most reports I've read say it was simply the coords from the cache location. Here is another source besides the original one I posted: http://www.king5.com/localnews/stories/NW_...J.253cb5a0.html It'd be interesting to hear the story from them first hand. Sounds off to find a GPS hanging in a tree, but anything is possible...maybe the interview will be on youtube.
  9. Well, it was a "quick question" thread, so it'll end on page 12 versus page 79....maybe...

  11. You could run into somewhat the same issue on public property, actually. It would then depend if the area is open or not. Criminal trespassing is usually issued to people on private property who have been previously warned, or are damaging something. Hence the word "somewhat"...
  12. see profile photo What is that photo anyway? It's hard to make out...you have a large version of it?

  14. Huh? You're not on my block list. Not yet anyway? I PMed you a while back regarding something and you didn't respond...so, I assumed you ignored it. I certainly may have decided not to respond, but you are not being ignored. You acted surprised like you hadn't seem a message...regardless, it doesn't matter either way. I am not going to PM you over it. Best to let it die since we can't make progress on the open forum I see no reason to believe it'd be different in PM.

  16. I can't get that video to load (presumably 50,000 geocachers are trying to see it!). Does anyone know if the cache contained its own coordinates, or whether the climbers called in the cache name and someone looked it up on the site? From the article I linked above: It contained their location's exact coordinates. I would presume so, but I suppose that could be reported like that for sake of brevity.

  18. This is one reason I work with local law enforcement when I place caches.
  19. Then don't, as an owner...I don't care what you do. This isn't about your personal cache.
  20. I wouldn't but I am often 'rediculous' about what I will and won't claim as a find. I agree. I don't post smiley's unless I find the log in good condition and the cache in good condition. I found a cache last year that I wish would just get archived. It had maintenance logs from June/July from two reputable cachers in the area. Subsequently, the cache became even more damaged to the point of only contents being strewn about, yet two cachers after that logged smiley's. I logged a maintenance request in November and have since logged a SBA since it's not getting attention.
  21. The burden of proof is ultimately on the cache owner. When there are clear signs, literally, that he may not have it then there is enough cause for concern to question the word of the cache owner.
  22. Most everyone? Are there statistics on this? Again, I'll write on a log in addition to placing my sticker on logs where that is applicable, but otherwise on many mini-logs where people are just signing and dating there is effectively zero difference. My legibility is bad and a sticker can be personal as well. I agree that stickers stuck weird can be problematic...CITO comparison is invalid, but I am sure the added drama was to emphasize a point. Well, here's my counter-point, I've seen just as many obnoxious, large, diagonal, entire page hand written signings as I have odd ball stick placements. And, honestly, I've never seen a big problem with odd ball stickers in our area. Maybe regions have some problematic cachers signing logs, but I'd bet they all aren't limited to the sticker users.
  23. Why not? The type I am talking about you print on the fly. Besides, my legibility is marginal at best. I would still write in the log about the journey if it were that type of log. There are clearly reasons outside laziness...
  24. Couldn't that cause potential issue with moisture and the ink ruining the log? This is one reason I've shied away from even using certain types of felt tips pens...seems like the ink in those tends to run when moisture hits the ink.Alternatively, we could stop signing the logs altogether. That way there is no danger of inks damaging it. Yeah, har har...that's clearly what I was saying!
