  1. I have 5 containers that are medium to large sizes that I'm looking to get rid of. I always planned on making caches out of them, but never got around to it. If you can use them and can pick them up in Astoria, Queens, they're yours! see the pics at http://newyork.craigslist.org/que/for/3212192605.html But I wouldn't dream of charging a fellow GCer. Contact me at jakebond70@gmail.com
  2. I purchased these to use as containers but never got around to using them. I'm in NYC and would love to give them to anyone that thinks they could be put to use. I'm selling them on craigslist here: http://newyork.craigslist.org/que/for/3212192605.html However I'd love to just give them to a fellow GCer. LMK. JakeBond JakeBond70@gmail.com
  3. Hey! I am really really interested in this GPS. please contact me if you still have it for sale. email at jakebond70_at_gmail.com or call at 414.202.4802
  4. I think its about time for someone to build a geo-arc so then we can have a geo-flood, and get rid of all the bad geo-eggs and start the sport again with geo-purists...
  5. Lessee, I've been to: Riveview. Largest rats that I've ever seen. DNF. I ain't sticking my fingers in there! Hogger's First Cache Second ugliest place I've cached. See above. i points revenge Absolutely disgusting! Then there was Mount Morris (definitely did not feel safe there. But it was a waypoint, and not a cache. Someone actually stole the cannon from the top?!?) Morningside Park is interesting. Did find 4quA5 Interesting area. But, I ain't going here! Spooky Island I am totally going to Spooky Island! I cant wait to make my trip out there! I think its the perfect place for a cache!
  6. Most of the VC's around me are pretty fantastic. I do believe that Virt.s should be reinstated, however only if there was a way to check to see if the places where they are placed is well above average. I konw this is impossible, but one can dream, can one? I enjoy virt.s And visiting VC's via Waymarking, is ok, except that Waymarking has been littered with so much trash that its very hard to wade through to find the gems. I think Waymarking needs a little CITO, honestly...
  7. This is exactly what I think. If guidelines are to be set, they should be something brought forth from the community, not TPTB. And who ever likes, can follow or not follow them, without being fearful of having their logs deleted. I say, if I want to log a cache that I didnt visit, who really cares. I'm only lying to myself.
  8. thats kind of the way it is. finals will be over soon. Its the risk you take by sending out something that you consider personal propert into the wild. Ive had the same expierience, and you just wait it out. Ive noticed that a couple of months isnt an unheard of amount of time to wait for a log from a TB. Due to my schedule at work, Ive been forced to hold on to tradeables for more than 4 weeks, much longer than I would have liked.
  9. good luck. do you cache in WI, or TX? if youre in WI, try getting out to Milwaukee and do covert cache. that is the one cache i wish i had done while i was at school in milwaukee...
  10. 65 days since I began actively caching I have found 44 caches without a car (3 with). On average, I find a new cache every 1.48 days On average, I find .68 caches every day. But im not a numbers person...
  11. It sounds fine. No problems with the rules. I think this post begs the question tho, about the NEED for rules. And judges? really? Im sorry, but this isnt an olympic sport were talking about here. its a fun games for dads and kids to do on weekends. I understand the issues that people have with DRR's 312 day. And my feelings on the matter are mixed. The vandalism of the cache containers that they visited is an issue, tho some cache owners might think that the graffitti actully valuates the cache and maybe they like having their cache container be part of the record. whatever tho. There are no officials in this game. there are no policemen. Just go have fun! And try not to interfere with other people's right to do the same! geez...
  12. I love my job. I work 40 hours a week, just like the next guy, but i have a rather strange schedule. Tuesdays, thrusdays, Fridays, I only work four hours from 630 to 1030. Wed. and Sat. I work noon to 1030, but have a big 3 hour break in the middle. and sundays I work 1 to 5. It leaves nearly all day open for caching. i work in theatre, where all i have to do is go and run shows, most of which are at night. I think this is a near perfect schedule. It really helps to not have kids and a wife, tho...
  13. i really thought you made this animal up reading the OP. then i saw the pics, and i was sure you planted a stuffed animal. then i saw the video and couldnt believe an animal so wierd and ugly actually exists! glad youre ok!
  14. wouldnt it be nice if the Google Earth GC KML had a customizable option to filter out broken/found caches? anyone know of a hack to do this?
  15. UM, i screwed up the date (the bar is closed on Sunday) so I pushed it back one day, to June 26th, a monday. FYI. Hope everyone can make it...
  16. I think this is a great idea, the more i research and explore this area. I cant wait to hit your new caches...
  17. im thinking about a dumpster cache...
  18. What's up with this periodic comment? All you other evil super-ultra-mega camo'd cache placers.... Good effort... just opened my eyes to the craziness of your evil genius. bump
  19. Its the cache hider who is the irresponsible party. I fiercly disagree with this statement. Please show me where in the rule book it is stated that one must not place a cache in an urban environment where many muggles congregate. Ive crawled all over the GC website and never found it. The spirit of Geocaching is for people to take the sport wherever they want it. To grow with it, and to expand it. Come up with creative ideas. Fun challenges. Different ideas. NEW PLACES! It is absolutely not irresponsible to place them in high traffic areas. I take offense at that statement and am very proud of my 3 urban caches. Check out my first cache. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...09-e92589ef3932 it is in a very busy, urban plaza that regularly has over 200 people in it. It is around 2000 sq. feet in area. Now read all the logs on the page. People love this cache, and they respect it. Please dont ever visit any of my caches with your disrespectful attitude towards this sport. Jakebond edit: P.S. All my urban caches are marked to let seekers know that they are in high traffic areas. but then again, cacheing in NYC, rational people assume this.
  20. Okay, first of all, What do you think about this series of caches? Do you like ultra-muggle caches? Any great high muggle cache tricks/stories? A direct search can be found here: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.asp...er&submit4=Find And the original OYR cache is here: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...f7-0dc61dcd9d95 Bonus question, NYC residents/tourists who have done my Follow Me Home series, do you think they qualify? do you think all manhattan caches qualify? Follow Me Home 1: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...09-e92589ef3932 FMH2: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...c8-d934ca4b5541 FMH3: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...d2-87412514c88b Sound off, Go! 21. you just have to vary your container style.... http://i9.ebayimg.com/03/i/06/6b/69/fc_1.JPG http://i3.ebayimg.com/03/i/06/05/ec/dd_1.JPG
  22. I like the idea. what about a 50 state multi?
