  1. I agree with everything everybody already said. I'll add two things to it.

1, The harder you look, the harder it will be to find.

2, Bring a walking stick to help find the cache. It helps to scare away things that might bite!!

Oh, one more, Keep it fun.

  2. I just bought a used Garmin V with the City Select Ver. 3 Map source. I'm was able to install the my laptop is telling me that I need the ISScript 9. Thats it. any thing else I get messages that I need to install by useing setup.exe When I try the install via the Setup app I get "Please start this CD install from the the Setup CD." I even tried going to the Start menu and doing a search for "Run" and trying to install from there via "F:\setup" and get the "Please start this CD install from the the Setup CD."

The lap top is running Vista.

Please, anyone out in Geocaching land help me!!!

  3. I have the LG 550 (Fusic) phone with Sprint and use the Geocache Navigator. Its works great! Gets me close to GZ, but not as close as a pure bread GPS unit would. I like it because I can find caches any time I'm out and didn't plan on caching.

Hi, I work for Trimble and stumbled across your thread. The Blackberry pearl is fully supported by Trimble's Geocache Navigator application. The Centro is not unfortunately. You can get a free 30 day trail for the Pearl here:

    Blackberry Geocache Navigator Trial

If I recall Sprint has a 30 day return policy. So you can get the Pearl, load Geocache Navigator, and see if you like it at no risk. We've had a lot of customers do this so they can determine if they like a particular phone overall.

    Rich at Trimble

The two phones I'm currently looking at are:

    the Palm Centro:

    and the Blackberry Pearl 8310:

Anyone here use either of these phones for Geocaching?

Again, any help here would be great! Thanks!

  4. I think this may be the answer?

When you are getting ready to take your wife in for a heart procedure. She says she is getting into the shower at the same time you realize a new cache has been placed across town. You tell her you are going to warm the car up and be right back. You go get the FTF and return home just in time to head to the medical center 1.5 hours away.

By the way it was an LPC and the procedure went very good!

    Great day

That FTF must have been a good omen

  5. Backround, I grew up in North Jersey, I've seen a few back then.

I saw in another post somewhere here in these forums about why would someone need to pack a gun. Then I saw this on a different forum I belong to and thought it would fit in here just nice :)

  6. You are correct.

Of course if you see black helicopters they have already implanted the tracing chip behind your ear and nothing you do will prevent them from knowing when you eat, sleep and ...well you know.

What are you? A nut job? Everyone knows that's just a urban legend! You spend way to much time on the conspiracy theory web sites. The tracing chip is really in the base of the neck. There less movement then the head and gives a more accurate reading on your movements.

  7. That unit has volatile memory. It requires a constant current, or it will lose everything except what was burned in at the factory. It's got a lithium button battery inside, to provide current when there aren't batteries in the unit. That battery has about a 10 year lifespan. I'm sure your unit is at least that old. That means you're losing your almanac data every time the 4 AA batteries run down, or your take them out of the unit for more than a minute or two.

Solution? Always keep good batteries in it, and when you swap them out, do it quickly. Or you can try to open up the unit and solder in a new battery.

Good thinking. Its hold all my waypoints , routes and stuff fine. Thats with or without any batteries.

  8. My Garmin GPS III is not receiving the sats at all. It's like it's not getting any signal from the antenna. I tried both of the antennas I have. The stock stick and a powered magnetic antenna that can placed on the roof of the car. Everything thing points to the BNC contact on the back of the GPSr. Or its in the unit its self. Anyone have any ideas? Everything works fine, the Sat page shows sats but no bars for the sats.

Garmin web site says "Repair services no longer available." for there GPS III :D

Or worse case, Anyone have a cheap GPSr i can buy ???

OK first off, how did you determined that it is the BNC socket on the GPS? Were you using it one day and all of a sudden you lost the signal but couldn't get a signal or was the unit not used for a couple of months and when you now turn it on you don't see anything after a couple of minuets?

You might just need to download new almanac data from the sats.

    Witch GPS is the "V"?

    https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=155

How or where do I download new almanac data from the sats?

The signal seemed to fad over a 2 or 3 day time frame.

OK, about the "V", That would be a step up for me. A baby step at least :o
