  1. If money where no object - as above (well, for the EU topos in my case) and the choice would still be the 60CSx for me. The 2500mah will do a good few days flat out. In addition, I'd hire a programmer / hacker who could re-do the firmware. I'd get him to: - drop the: Hunting/Fishing stuff, - get her to put in a input for warning time to next tern (it is kind of dependant in which vehicle you ride/drive and how quickly) - get her to fix the download route directions problem - but most of all, I'd get a 'Profiles" function put in... so I could swap quickly between contexts which require different routing options, which pages are available etc. That is, of course, of no help. Sorry.
  2. I've not noticed any 'D's in London yet... maybe I should look more often *Edit: or, at least, look at the Internet if not the GPSr... This chap seems to think not all satellites are working yet for SiRFstarIII (GPSMAP60 CS types) and the impact for accuracy is not that clear cut.
  3. Hi, I did. Used the online form; but no reply. Sent and email to techsupport and was asked (auto reply) to resend to: greg.vulinovic@garmin.com Funny thing is, I started this debate in sci.geo.satellite-nav and no one seamed to think this was a problem that should be fixed Do write... I'm sure then can fix it. p.s. For discussions of this problem on other lists, I've stumbled across, see my notebook.

For a WAP connection use: http://wap.geocaching.com/. I use it all of the time on my Blackberry. However, this will be useless if you are out of the digital coverage area of your cell phone provider. even if you're a premium member?!?! This has no bearing on whether you are a premium Geocaching.com member or not. It depends on your cell phone provider (Verizon, Alltel, etc.). For WAP access, you need handheld internet access. This can only be done within a "Digital" coverage area (verses the analog coverage area). But I'm in the UK - we have no analogue coverage here anymore. So the WAP will work everywhere, even when there's no "digital" coverage? Or does that mean I've wasted my money on the Premium membership?
  5. Hay! yup and have found my 1st 2 caches gadgets & running round in circles - almost as good as bikes

  7. That's in Mapsource, would those settings transfer from PC to GPSr? I didn't think they did... no they're not - but they should be! I've even complained to garmin tech support about this as it's not, IMHO, compliant with the manual
  8. I also agree the warning is to short - having moved from the Quest to the 60CSx; it's really noticeable. I use it (them both) mounted on a motorbike handlebar - and my habits for a quick check, formed from extensive use of the Quest - where way out of kilter on the 60CSx. Also, I'm very very very disappointed that when downloading routs to the unit, the directions information is lost. Not a problem if it's just calculated; but if you've used the routing tool it is a really shame (and, No!, I don't want to just use piles of waypoints!!!) Otherwise, it really is an excellant unit - and I'm sure both the above can be fixed in firmware...
  9. Thought this might be a good place to introduce myself to UK geocache... Coyote was a nickname given to me IRL by mates - something to do with my looks It morphed into Kyot when I stumbled across KYOT-FM in Arizona... since when Don Kyot has taken on quite a significant Internet and Real life of his own; particularly as far as things like motorbiking are concerned. Right now, enjoying getting into this geocache thing; and thinking about how it can be combined, in an interesting way, with biking... hi!

are there no plans for a mobile/WAP type interface to geocacher.com?
  12. Cheers. There are some really useful tools available - I appreciate the 'pocket queries' thing... wondering around trying to remember what I'd read on the net!
  13. Just thought I'd do my first post like this... So, a little about me in this context: Done two local caches so far - fun! Got a GPSMAP60CSx - had a Quest.Love the 60CSx, except that down loading routs from mapsource is broken (doesn't send Directions) I don't think I know anyone into geocaching - maybe meet some local to me? - except Ashaaria (here) who gave me a real ticking off on another forum for not thinking through an idea about... I'm curious as to whether geocaching can be combined with motorbiking somehow - like a daisy chain covering several hundred miles... so here I am to see if it's been done etc. what fun! (do sigs take html or BB code? cheers getting my sig right!)
