  1. It all starts out on a brisk morning with the dew still on the grass in a pine forest. It is about a 3 mile hike to the cache that takes me past some spectacular views. Then the cache is placed in a hidden out of the way old castle and you have to explore the castle and find the cache container which is a treasure box right and then you open it up and inside is a billion dollars, keys to like a billion cars, and all this other cool stuff for the FTFinder. That is a cool cache.
  2. I found a Starbucks gift card in my cache when I did a check up on it, but there wasn't any money on it.
  3. Never had a problem with Security, but I have only flown in the US, but there hasn't been any trouble and most airlines will let you use your GPS onboard. The only wierd thing is the strange looks some people give you if you try to see your coordinates on the plane.
  4. When I just started caching out in San Diego, it was like maybe my 10th find I stumbled across another cacher, this was in a public area and I saw him in the direction I needed to head, so I decided I might as well walk up there and when I got up there he moved away when I got close to the coordinates, so I asked if he is looking for something and he is like yeah and we then found it together. I mean if the guy is right there might as well give it to him.
  5. Well kind of a bad but good story. Went hiking in Mission Trails Regional Park last summer? It is in San Diego, along every trail I think there is another cache every .1 miles away, it is crazy. Hot as anything that day, went with my girlfriend. Found about 14 caches that day I think, we were out about 8 hours or so, thought we had plenty of water, but we found it the hard way what dehydration gets like. We hiked to the top of the mountain and it isn't a switchback trail, they are just straight up, we decided to turn around once we got up there and went back down, ran out of water about an hour hike left. My girlfriend was feeling it really bad. She was having severe signs of dehydration and she is also diabetic and didn't eat much while hiking either so it wasn't to good for, finally we made it to the end, I had to almost carry her last hour hike back. It was bad, but once we got to the car it was this huge relief, it was great.
  6. I hid a lamp post cache once, but it was only active for about 6 months til the police had to investigate it because they it was a drug deal going on with all the people that kept going to the light pole. So I archived it, unfortunate but understandable.
  7. This is a pretty cool game, haha, crash and burn.
  8. My girlfriend and I found two Seaworld tickets for San Diego, CA which we then used on my birthday. We weren't first to find but I guess someone was just very generous.
  9. I have always worried about being attacked by a mountain lion or being bitten by a rattler. I live in San Diego, but there is some trails that it would take a hell of long time to get back to a road from. I always wondered about that. At least I always take my g/f with me.
  10. Use to have a 94 Nissan Altima but I think that it had to many rough roads, so I have now a 97 Nissan Sentra, hopefully it will like the roads better.
  11. Welcome to the Wonderful World of Caching.
  12. Having muggles around have there pros and cons. Pros--some muggles know what you are doing and actually help you, like this one time I was searching for a cache with my dad, it was a 5 on difficultly and a muggle that always walks his dog in the park came by and said "Are you looking for the treasure?" and we said yes and he was like well you are searching in the right area but I just don't know exactly where it is, then he left and wished us good luck. Cons--they can call the police on you for suspicious activities. Example, my one micro that was in a lamp post skirt until people noticed that people kept going up to the lamp post for a reason and call the police and they came in to investigate it, they thought it was drug deals going down, so I had to remove that cache.
  13. I do alot of night caching in the city at San Diego. It is still hard because we have so many street lights around. If you night caching in the city I would say watch out for the drunk and disorderly and the homeless people. But other than that, going at night brings a whole new dimension to the game that is really fun.
  14. I am 20, my brother is 30, and my father is 60 (he is the one who started the addiction)
  15. Alright, so I haven't went out for awhile because my last GPS unit broke, it was a Magellan Explorist 200, and now the buttons don't work, I can press and press and press as hard or soft as I can and nothing happens, I can only use the nav button but all the other buttons don't work so I can't enter in any coordinates. So I would like the help of the geocaching community on some tips for my next GPSr purchase. I am looking for one under $200 and that is about my only stipulation. All the input on what type I should buy would be appreciated, thanks.
  16. Where is the censor bar from the FCC when we need it.
  17. I was thinking of placing a cache on the beach at the Children's Pool where the seals are? I mean there are PETA people there saying to stay off the becah and not cross their line, but really it is a public beach and you are allowed to go down there, but I was thinking of putting the cache maybe right under where the lifeguard tower is, it is a nice view and cool place to go, but I am always worried about the PETA people and how much they harrass people that go on the beach. WHat does everyone here think about putting a cache there?
  18. So my girlfriend and I placed a cache right outside of her work so she could watch people find it and hopefully go down and talk with them. So far she has seen a bunch of people. The cache is also called I am Watching You!!! Because of all the tinted windows and the ability for people to see you caching and what not. So my girlfriend told some of her coworkers about geocaching but not all of them, some of them saw people going to the spot and finding it, well the owner of the company though it was a drug deal going down so he went down himself to check it out and to his suprise found a film cannister and brought it back up to work, to investigate it, finally figured out what it was and my girlfriend's manager told the owner about it and got a good laugh about it, and then the manager got a good laugh telling my girlfriend. Just thought it was a funny story to tell.
  19. Um well the best advice I could give you without looking up everycache there and posting the easy ones is go to this one GCVZ0J and go to googlemaps it is before the comments area on the page. And look up the caches around there, look for like terrain 1s or 1.5 and if they are that low they usually mean that they are urban micros. That is the best I can do without actually looking up each cache around there to find easy terrain ones, even look at the cache pages to find out more too. So goodluck with everything and happy caching.
  20. My girlfriend and I usually cache after we get off of work and then into the twilight hours and sometimes at night, and especially on the weekends we like going out during the day and then doing another run at night, it just makes it all the more difficult and is really fun.
  21. The most common thing I can think of is lemon juice, it works under a black light.
  22. You know you are addicted when you need to go to a place and they don't have any coordinates listed. -or- You alwasy look up caches before you go anywhere.
