  1. I really went hog wild when I got my digital camera...it's actually a dvd/video-camera. It uses mini dvds to record video and/or pictures - I can get over 1000 on one r/w dvd - which is really nice because the most I've ever used before deleting them was 200++ which was for a family reunion. Once I got home and d/led them I have space for that many again.

It was A LOT, but there was a special going on at a new circuit city where you got a coupon for a percentage you paid, and since I've ALWAYS wanted a video camera, and wanted a digital camera for my business I combined the issues and went all out.

Whats really nice, is when the mini dvd-r is full (30 min. - approx) and you 'finalize' the disc it's playable in any dvd player that plays mini disc!

---my parent's have a digital camera my mom has had for a few years now, wish I could remember the information your looking for to let you know it. But with all the memory cards and etc out now, you have tons of choices! They also have a video/digital camera and love using it because you can flip between the two so fast.

They also have a pair of binoculars that can take around 500?? pictures. Really good quality and cost under $200. Found at radio shack, they were having a special at father day...

anyway, I know I wasn't much help - but I just had to say something.. =-)

**Try something 3 times before giving up on it! The 1st time may be bad weather, the 2nd may be dead GPS batteries, the 3rd you may spot that hiding spot!!**

  3. I've just LOVE icon_wink.gif this one...

    "Clue?"

--of course CLUE... I wouldn't decode this if I didn't want a CLUE!!!

    Or there was this one

"This is easy, you don't need help."

--I must just be dumb?? because it's not easy for me and your 'clue' isn't helping me either - on to the NEXT cache... maybe the logs will have REAL hints!!

  4. I realize I didn't make myself clear with my first response either, I agreed with the search for virtual, webcams, meetings, etc... I already knew I could do a name search by doing a keyword search, or using the waypoint.

    I also know I can't do a terrain/diff. search though, how exactly would I keyword a star??

I do use the keyword search A LOT, however I can't do pocket queries, plus I don't have a PDA. So, those options don't help me much.

***Although as a side note-I'm sure I'll pay to be a charter member soon.***

Therefore, we were talking about features without being a charter member, and just by being online without extra steps involved beyond "Search"

  6. That would be another interesting way to search for what you want... I usually just want to be able to do some sort of sort by Difficulty and Terrain levels - since I've just started I want to slowly work my way up and clicking through the pages finding the just the 1/1s or 2/1 or 2/2s gets kind of old..

To much time on my hands - i just started creating an excel sheet with the info I wanted and use that then come back on here and do a search for the waypoint now... so I can get the description/hint/logs/map...etc... icon_wink.gificon_wink.gificon_wink.gificon_wink.gif

  8. sounds like a regular multi cache - since there are no logbooks in the other two places, and you have to do them to get the coords for the final and third one.

isn't that exactly what a multi cache is??? with or without the puzzles..

  9. This was happening to me yesterday. I just finally threw my hands in the air and said forget it, "I" know I found it.. so who cares.

(I'm one of the people who doesn't care a great deal about the find numbers)

Anyway, when I logged in the earlier today, I gave it another shot and worked fine. I didn't do anything different, I'm using Netscape 7 and sometimes I have the log in screen set to rememember me and sometimes I don't. For both of these times it was set at don't.

I do think I had been jumping around a lot, I had several tabs open in Net 7 and was surfing a great deal - I'm such an information geek.

Anyway, it could have been that it didn't know what I was doing because I had several geocaching tabs open. I usually have one where I'm reading the forum, one where I'm looking at the cache pages - the the various tabs to read my e-mail or hyperlinks people give me while reading forums! =-)

Like I said, I am an information geek - gotta know... gotta know... it's not right unless I know!!

Anyway, I'll stop typing now... icon_smile.gificon_smile.gificon_smile.gificon_smile.gificon_smile.gificon_smile.gif

  13. I am one of those people who will read a little bit of the last few postings to see if there is anything not original said about the site; coords are off, animals, steep hills.. etc.

But I LOVE pictures and sometimes fight the urge to look, but after my first hunt I realized I spend so much time on here reading descriptions and looking through cache postings that I couldn't tell you what things I knew went with what cache.

I am still trying to do it first without much help, then coming back online and reading logs and decoding hints to try again. (of course part of this is because we don't have printer ink so I can't exactly print a cache page out!) We are fixing that this weekend though!!!

  16. That's exactly what I was thinking of when I wrote my comment earlier!

I always wondered why the micros didn't have their own icons so you could tell right away they were different from 'normal' Like a mini cache can (or the word MICRO written across it).

  17. Well,

I read an article a while back but didnt' get invovled until my parents took me out. My dad is one with the drive of the hunt between them, but I'm my fathers daughter. I'm the one between me and my fiancee (who is a red head - I'm well.. it's either blonde or brown you pick) who really wants to get out there.

I just started and every where I drive I keep thinking - OO i bet there is a cache that way, or this is the road I'll need to take this weekend....to get to this cache...

  18. I live in Arizona and worked the evening shift at the time. Meaning I didn't usually get up until almost noon. However, on 9-11 my phone kept ringing. I finally got up to find two messages on my machine telling me they wanted me to come into work early because of the "attack on the US"

I thought I heard my boss incorrectly and immediately picked up the remote and turned on the tv. I was instantly faced with a picture of the WTC just after the 2nd tower hit. I was stunned, I just sat on the couch and stared. I don't know how long I watched when I picked up the phone and said I would be into work in an hour.

I remember dressing in front of the tv for work as I watched the towers fall. It was like I was in a different place, I couldn't get enough of the news (which I normally NEVER watch or read).

Once I was at work, my co-workers and I spent all day listening to talk radio- several of us had the same station on so we could all hear it without blaring anything. We have no tv at my place of work, so all we had were the radios.

I spent the next several days working morning/afternoons instead because of flight cancellations our job was messed up while we waited for people to drive our work in from the western states.

I had no ties with NY, PA, or DC except for the fact that I've seen the NY skyline when driving through once, and I used to live close to DC.

My heart cries for all the lives lost that day, and all the families forever split by what happened.

We are a great nation, and perhaps every generation needs to be reminded that we sometimes have to fight VERY hard to the right of living with the freedom our forefathers have fought to give us. Nothing is free in life, and I'm PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!!!!!!

  19. I like your ideas, the first one in particular! I used to love those books! I was thinking of creating a cache similar to that, in the fact that there would be a story line that would take you to four different caches (each with a part of the final coords) and eventually take you to the final and fifth coords.

Of course, there is a lot I have to learn about caching before I place it but when I'm ready I know exactly what I'm going to do and how.
